I know...its gross =(

The last couple of days I have had these awful, awful burps that taste horrible.  I feel like my breath just smells terrible all the time.  I have had acid reflux off and on the entire pregnancy but this has just started in the last several days.  Is this acid reflux related and has anyone ever experienced this? And if so, does anyone have any tips that could make it stop or at least improve it?

While I am at it, I have another question.  I am currently 34+5 weeks.  I teach fourth grade and my due date is the day after school gets out.  I am completely exhausted and every day seems to drag and drag which is just making it difficult.  I am trying to work as long as I can because I don't acutally need to take a leave since I will have the entire summer at home and I have accumulated enough sick and personal days to take off two weeks before if needed.  Any tricks or advice??

Im sorry, I know that seemed whiney! Other than those two things I will count my blessings! I have only gained 9 pounds and nothing is swollen (well....yet =) ) !!

  • I am a Kinder teacher and was forced to go out early. I was really upset about it because I didn't want to leave my class, plus I had zero sick time. Now that I am out I am SO glad that I am. It has been amazing. I feel like a new person. I'm stress free and get to relax. If you can take the time it is definitely something to consider.

As far as the other issues, I'm no help there. I've had terrible acid reflux the entire time. I finally got some tums and that has helped.

  • I teach high school in an alternative school.  I'm exhausted and wish I could leave earlier than planned.  My due date is May 10 and I said my last day would be May 8.  I wish I could be out now.  I haven't been able to do anything to plan for baby because I'm so busy with lesson planning.  If they can get my sub lined up (still working on it) I will probably change by day to May 1 and hope he doesn't come too late because I won't have the pay to cover it.  If its a possibility and you can do it I would consider taking a little time off before.
  • The acid reflux is most likely the reason your burps smell/taste bad. Whenever I have really bad acid reflux my mouth and burps taste horrible. I'm not really sure what will help though. I'm still trying to find different types of antacids that'll help me. :p
  • O.o only gained 9 pounds ???? I'm 37 weeks and I've gained almost 30. Only in the belly and boobs though thank god lol I can still wear prepregs pants and everything ! And not one stretch mark woohoo!

Anyways lol to your question, it's probably heart burn acid refluz stuff. That happens to me sometimes too
  • Could be a bacterial infection of the stomach. Your doctor can order a breath test to rule it out.
  • I'm due May 4th and originally planned on going out April 24th, the last day of state testing, but I've been having contractions the last two days, which happen to also be state testing days. I have a DR appointment tomorrow and I'm going to see if she can pull me out of work. I don't want to have my baby while I'm still working or have my water break in school. My  kids are already nervous about when I'm going to have the baby.
  • Tums for the acid reflux!!!
  • Maybe it's what you're eating?  Sometimes lots of protein could cause that.  But I'm totally with you on the being exhausted and dragging at school part.  I teach High School, luckily my portion of the testing is finished so I can breath a little easier and honestly not have so many eyes on me, but it's still rough.  I'm going out the 5 days before my due date, 2 weeks before the last day of school.  I'm hoping I'll be able to go back in just to do all of my close out stuff the day after all of the students get out, but who knows.
  • I'm due May 1 and had planned to be out on May 1 if I didn't go into labor. But now the doc is talking about inducing April 27, so my last day would then be next Friday. I agree w others about how much it helps to stay home when you can. We just came off spring break and I'm already more stressed at work.
  • I teach a 1st/2nd split and am going out about ten days before my due date....if I make it that long. I have a pinched nerve in my tailbone area and can hardly walk right now. I get how exhausting it is. In our line of work we are typically on our feet all day and have to be on it mentally from the moment the kiddos walk through the door.
If you have two weeks of sick leave built up I would take them and enjoy them. Relax, read a book, nest, and just plain enjoy yourself.
