DIY projects unite!

I'd love if we could keep pictures in one place of projects we are working on/hope to work on/have completed for our babies and homes.  I like to quilt, have some antique doilies to use, and will be trying to get my sewing machine out as much as possible to get some sewing done in the next year. I imagine these early months, I will not be producing much, but in the summer months, I could see myself picking up some steam.  Anyone else with me?

    I was making this rag rug for my DD. I started when I was 3 months with her. She'll be 2 next month. LOL. Lesson learned try to finish all crafts before they get here. The time off for maternity leave doesn't allow for crafting. Maybe I'll finish it before the next one gets here. :)

    I'd like to start on a simple mobile with strips of long fabric dangling down. It's as simple as finding a small hoop and tying strips of fabric to it.

    I am doing some spring cleaning and found dress remnants from my wedding dress.  I had my wedding dress cut to knee length from a floor length gown with a train when I wore it for my wedding and was hoping to have something made from the large amount of leftovers but I don't really have any idea what.  I don't know gender and I don't plan to baptize my baby but have that be a decision that is made for them personally.  Any creative ideas?

    I'll probably make the a crib skirt, quilt and crib sheets for this baby coming.. I also made my daughter crib set set.

    I'm getting ready to start making a quilt. My aunt taught me how to make one by hand many years ago :)

    @lizerspitz , if the fabric is satiny, you could use it as blanket binding on a baby blanket. Or, an outfit for a dolly you want them to have. Or, if it is a girl, make a hair bow out of part of it.

    Lol, I have so many plans. We'll see what I actually do. I want to make curtains for sure and hopefully also a matching crib set.

    I plan to handmake nearly everything for our baby! Quilts, sheets, blankets, bumpers, bibs, burp cloths, gowns, leggings, tees...... We're converting my sewing studio to the nursery so I have to get in as much sewing as I possibly can! :)

    I would miss a studio so much if I were so lucky to have one.  I just have the kitchen table, which tends to stall out my projects.

    I am definitely going to miss it SO much @lizerspitz . I've been brainstorming how to keep it, but I know eventually I'll have to give it up and it'll probably end up being moved to our bedroom. If it'll all FIT in there!

    I make tutus. Don't have any photos bc the last one I made was for my high school dance show costume haha. But it's really simple.
    Pinterest also has a ton of great ideas.

    I like to crochet, I already made some red high top booties. I am also going to repaint an old dresser, which will also be the changing table. Lots of other projects in the works!

    Is there anyone who knits? I want to make a baby blanket but I don't know if it will be hard to use the circle needles for blankets. I was just going to make some scarves and sew them together lol

    efflerc11 - I've made a few baby blankets, and my skills in knitting, generally extend as far as scarves and hats. I think I knitted on regular needles and started with one or two stitches and added a stitch at each end of the row. Then, when the diagonal corners got as wide as I wanted, I started reducing a stitch at each end of the row.

    On one version I did, when I got to the last corner of my square, I started adding stitches again, to make an extra triangle, which I stitched down as a hood (If that makes sense). That one came out really well.

    I really am very limited in skills, so you could totally do it and i bet you can do it on round needles, just don't join it  like a hat.

    I've made quite a lot of baby blankets and I always use a circular needle. Each row takes a long time to knit but you get a neater finish than joining shorter pieces.
    It's really easy to do. As pp said, you just work in rows rather than joining in the round

    I have fabric picked to make a fabric chandelier and I really want to make a dream catcher. I also want to do a zentangle/water colour picture!

    I have so many ideas in my mind! Dying to get a cricut machine so I can make vinyl stencils and decals. Among other things of course.

    Learning to crochet would be amazing but I'm feeling imitated by it and I have no one to show me how in person.

    @oilfieldmomma look on YouTube, there are lots of great tutorials to learn to crochet! I have used it tons!

    You should look into the loom kits. My mother is a avid crocheter (sp?) and she wanted to try knitting. Unfortunately she is having trouble with her hands and wrists. So she started off with a loom kit and she just finished a blanket for my nephew that fits on a full size bed! It's incredibly easy and there are tons of patterns for free on the Internet. I highly recommend it!
