oil pulling.

So I had a dental procedure done, and they ended up pulling the enamel off of my teeth. So in result my teeth are very sensitive and every time I brush them I cry from the pain. I heard oil pulling is really good for strengthening teeth. And it's supposed to have a bunch of other great benefits too. Has anyone here tried it? Does it work? And is it safe for pregnancy?

I don't know anything about oil pulling. But I tried whitening strips when I got married and damaged my enamel resulting in super sensitive teeth! Dentist recommended using fluoride rinse-purple generic is fine. And sensodyne toothpaste. It helped me and I no longer have sensitive teeth.

  • Yes! Use organic unrefined cold pressed coconut oil, swish for 15-20 minutes every day. Do not swallow!:) my husband does this and it really helps strengthen them.. Even rebuild them!
  • Ive been in the dental field for 8 years and i could say that no "good" dentist would allow you to go through that much pain without covering the exposed dentin to either minimuze or rid of sensitivity issues. Sensodyne works great.
  • Yes! I've been oil pulling with coconut oil for for a while. It pulls all the toxins from your mouth so really gets it clean. I'm not sure about whether it will help sensitivity or not, but it's good for other reasons! Do NOT do if you have amalgam fillings. It will pull out the mercury into your mouth. Also do not swallow it afterward since it's full of toxins.
  • I have but I have a hard time keeping the oil in my mouth for a long enough time now being pregnant. It makes me gag.
In addition to not swallowing it- don't spit it in your sink. It'll clog your drains.

It's a really long story... Begins with I was in an abusive relationship, was beaten, had a few teeth cracked, moved into the south, saw a dentist there, we were going to replace/fix my messed up teeth so they did a deep clean, a hydro clean thing and then something else so we could completely whiten then match my "new" teeth to the whitened treated teeth. I don't know if it's because I had so much done, or if they didn't know what they were doing (they weren't sure how to do an oral cleaning work my tongue piercing).

And it ends with me crying every time I brush. Lol

  • Thanks you guys!! So it shouldn't hurt the baby?
