  • Recently, I've noticed that ovulation symptoms are extremely similar to pregnancy symptoms. So are symptoms of about to start your period. When I'm about to start I always have the sore boobs, bloating, neusea, even a change in appetite.

A lot of pregnancy symptoms are extremely similar to period symptoms. If your test is negative, you are not pregnant at this time, therefore your symptoms are not pregnancy related.

I've read online that sometimes your Hcg levels take some time to rise which may give you a negative test. Not sure how much truth there is to that. Best to call your obgyn.

@firebaby688 there's actually a documentary about the Shining that talks about that theory

DH and I watched it. We found it boring and poorly done, but the theories themselves were fascinating.

It's boring? Sad, it's on my Netflix list and I've been meaning to watch it forever.
They basically had the conspiracy theorists record themselves talking about the movie and what is happening from their house. You actually hear someone's kid in the background at times. They go through the basic idea of the theories, which is interesting, but then they get into specific shots and play them five times or how the room was set up. It was just easier and more interesting to me to read about it online. And I love documentaries too, lol.

  • I had symptoms blew it off as oh it is just my body reacting to going off BC, blew off the pickle cravings and sore boobs, blew off three pregnancy tests. Left it alone for another month and had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured and sent me into emergency surgery. So, for all y'all who say don't call that doc...that was me... and I still wouldn't have gone unless my husband didn't drag me in. If you are concerned go in. Learn from my mistake. I am now missing my right side "stuff" because of it. Be safe. Heck call and ask a nurse.

What do you mean you blew off three pg tests? Were they pos or neg? Ectopic pregnancies show up on pregnancy tests too, generally.
Exactly-- I can't really advocate listening to someone that ignores things & doesn't test.

  • @jlxo12 you did not say how many days past ovulation you are? It sounds to me like your symptoms are being caused by progesterone, which is a hormone that is produced after ovulation in both pregnancy and regular ovulatory cycles. It causes sore boobs, bloating, and the nausea can be caused from the bloating if it is extreme. Or even if it is just moderate. You could be cramping because you are about to get your period. I would wait until your period is due to test again. If you are more than a few days late but negative tests and symptoms, then you can think about calling your doctor (assuming you have regular cylces.) I'm guessing AF is on her way. I know it's disappointing when you are hoping for a BFP but there is always next cycle. And yes, as a PP said, if you have severe pain of a lot of pressure in your rectum or vomiting... By al means, please go in to your ER to be sure it is not an ectopic... But I really wouldn't worry about that. You'd know that something is terribly wrong.
  • Actually I had a similar situation to a previous poster.  About 4 years ago I had a late period. Which was unusual for me, I was never late. I took pregnancy tests, they said negative so I let it be. After about 3 weeks, I knew something was going on. I went to my obgyn at the time, they did some tests, told me I wasn't pregnant. I told them yes I am. But hey, what do I know, they are the doctor not me. Another 2 weeks later, negative pregnancy tests, no period I called them back and said look something is going on and they did another blood test, NOTHING. I thought I was losing my mind, literally. A couple days after that I started bleeding so badly and was in pain, went to the doctor AGAIN, got a  positive pregnant test and they told me I was miscarrying. I said oh thats funny because you told me I was NOT pregnant! They sent me for an ultrasound to make sure I passed everything and the tech said you are not miscarrying, you have an ectopic pregnancy. Needless to say, I switched doctors. But my story is to tell you to listen to your body and do what you think is right for you.

Meanwhile, OP is at her local ER having an absolute temper tantrum (arms flailing) tell all the doctors they're wrong and she's having an ectopic pregnancy...because she has symptoms.

She had posted the same thing on the November 2015 BMB and ended up saying she was going to the doctor, so you're probably right.

  • Science doesn't usually exist on BMBs. Case in point: a thread I read this morning where someone said pregnant women shouldn't eat pork because, and I quote, pigs are dirty.

    Wut.

  • Wow, I was trying to be nice, by saying sometimes you have to go by instinct and explaining my personal story, which is not something I share often. I have read  alot of posts on here and I see sometimes people are sarcastic  and "snarky"   on certain posts and I get that. And I get its about facts and getting straight to the point, but I don't think that's an excuse to be rude and make jokes at someones expense. Maybe its just me, but I would think this would be a board to be supportive of each other. Oh well. Good luck to everyone though :)

I do only eat bacon on my McDonald's cheeseburgers, it's a stipulation of my diet.
