Wives tales or STMs. Signs labor is coming.

Other then the obvious mucus plug, contractions, and pressure, does anyone remember or heard of any signs that baby is near?

I went into labor last night, luckily the Dr was able to stop my labor as I am only 34 weeks. I had no pain or discomforts with contractions with any of my children. I am kind of scared that she will catch me off guard and sneak into this world before I have a chance for my csection.

I can't be the only one worried about this so just for fun what is something weird you remember about the days/hours of your previous labors? Have you heard any wives tales? I'll post first!

  • My mom's dog keeps following me everywhere I go. It wouldn't be weird but this dog is antisocial so the extra attention is alarming. I remember our cat acting funny toward me 2 days before my oldest daughter was born.

I have been spotting for 2 days since I lost my mucus plug. I remember that happening with my 2nd daughter too. She was an overnight surprise. I can't feel contractions so I remember reaching down because I was swollen and feeling weird and I felt her head crowning! Yikes! That was a close one!

  • I had a horrible cold. For like a week I was miserable. The. I went into labor and cold was gone. I know 4 other people that had the same thing.
  • I was told my son would be late, that night I went into labor 5 days early. I had no signs, not even my mucus plug went until I went into labor. I remember always being full for about 6 weeks before giving birth. But I don't think it was a sign, he was just gigantic!
  • Ugh I'm almost 37 weeks and woke up this morning feeling like I got hit by a bus! All of the flu symptoms without the fever, and when I told my mom she said that it can be a sign of early labor. I've never heard of it but when I did research, I saw that it's actually pretty common
  • Glad they stopped your labor!!

I don't really know of any but I'm interested to hear them, too!! I'm 37 weeks now so excited to see when he shows up! DD came a week early. There were no signs or anything, but I did have the thought the day before I went into labor that I should leave my desk in an orderly fashion and tie up all lose ends before I left work. So I did. I took care of everything that day, and then that night at 1am my water broke!
  • Sometimes diarrhea can also be a sign that labor is near. Lovely eh? I can't think of any others at the moment...

  • I definitely got a big burst if energy the day before I went into labor, and I had been so tired and exhausted for weeks before that. So it was pretty odd at that point. I hear it's a thing.
