and I'm only 14 weeks. Now I'm the first to admit, I pigged out over the holidays. I figured if I couldn't drink, I'd have dessert....and anyone else's who didn't finish theirs...and any chocolate that might be hanging around the house. I wasn't really stressing about it too much until I asked a girlfriend of mine, who is 32 weeks, how much she gained in her first tri. She said she didn't remember exactly how much she had gained, but she has only gained a total of 22 pounds so far.
I know everyone is different, but please tell me I'm not alone?
Re: I've gained 10 pounds already...
Please be kind to yourself. My first trimester I gained seven pounds which was due to my doing nothing more than eating (when I wasn't nauseous), going to work, and sleeping. I went from being super active to not so active.
After week thirteen my gain slowed to about a pound a month. Once I started feeling better, I was more active and no longer gaining weight by osmosis.
I have gained 12 lbs...but I was worried from my last appt I gained originally then next visit lost a few lbs due to M/S...doc was concerned. We'll I picked up momentum now! But don't be too worried I just read that you should gain about 2lbs every 4 weeks. I am going to start prenatal yoga NOT for my weight gain but to prepare for childbirth. I work in the medical field and a nurse who worked in OB said it helps to keep your core in shape to push.
Just went to the doc today - I gained so much because I have been craving juices. Which have too much simple carbs. He said to cut down on that and choose complex carbs (the baby feeds off of the carbs - and complex takes the longer to breakdown therefore the baby will feed off of it...rather than simple carbs are used up instantly by us).
Hope this helps!
