Seriously showing at seven weeks!

People keep telling me that because this is my second pregnancy, I'm showing sooner. I'm only seven weeks pregnant and I look the way I did when I was 20 weeks with my first. This is crazy to me. Anyone else having a similar experience?

  • I hope it's gas and bloat. I don't want to imagine how big I'll be by the end if it's not lol
  • No. You are bloated. Not showing. End of story.
  • With my second I literally looked nearly done by the time I was 16 weeks. It was wild. Im not sure why this happens with some women? I also gained like 75 lbs with my second. I didn't do anything differently either - I just gained way more. it was like two pounds a week! I know that bloat has a lot to do with it but I think the bloating is the hormones. and not just you overeating.

I see a lot of women posting about that. showing early, etc. everybody's different too. I think women who are shorter or who have less room from pelvic bone to ribcage than taller women do absolutely show earlier than others because they have less room for their guts to shift to. especially if they are curvier or chubby. but even then. My sister was average to thin - about a size 8/10 when she got pregnant and within 16 weeks she was obviously baby bumpin'. And if you look at celebrity pregnancies (just because these people are photographed throughout their pregnancies - etc) - look at the shorties who aren't really lean - Jessica Simpson, Kim Kardashian, Christina Aguilera - Im sure there are more but I can't really think of many right now. They got big and the press made that all the news during their pregnancies. Well um...im sorry but there is way less torso on a 5'1 woman compared to a 5'11 woman. So...yeah....lol...

  • I read that it's normal for your stomach to start getting bigger/rounder at 6 weeks, and I thought that was crazy.  I thought that surely that is too early.  I then got the flu and was so sick that I lost 4 pounds.  When I went back to work a few days later I remember laughing to myself that I wasn't going to have any belly issues after losing weight.  It was that very day that I realized all of my pants were snug and I had to go get one of those extenders!  I was shocked but it is definitely noticeable already and this is my first!
  • If you're showing, you're showing! Who cares if it's bloat or baby!?

I totally agree, I am a shorty and even my parents said I was showing a little; though I laughed it off and said it was the breakfast bagel I ate. If u r petite and small (4/6 here) where can the big uterus go? And like one woman said in another post, regardless if it's bloat, there's still a baby in there and it's a bump. Oh as another member calls it 'blump' (bloat and bump).
  • I love the graphic! Thanks :)
  • While you see your bigger stomach and feel your pants getting tighter, others most likely aren't noticing it yet. While I too don't like the negativity about the girls who are excited to be pregnant and can't wait for the world to see it, I have to agree that you aren't actually "showing" by definition. You are however, definitely growing and changing and you can see it yourself. I am small as well, but didn't truly show (just looked like I'd gained weight) until I was 6.5 months during my first pregnancy. With my second I was pointing out this giant belly to all my friends by 3 months and they just kept saying "there's nothing there". Now I'm on my third, and I can tell my pants are tighter, even without gas or constipation etc, but no one else sees it, so it's technically not called showing. In the first trimester you usually gain up to 5 pounds which will make anyone's belly bigger, rounder and fuller and make your pants tighter. You enjoy your pregnancy and your changing body, there are lots of miserable people out there that want you to be miserable too.
  • i'm just sick of people looking at my stomache all the time :s ... like is she pregnant? but too polite to ask.... ugh

  • Lol my husband rubbed my bloated tummy up high, and said "hello little bump!" I said "yeah, the baby's all the way down there, this is just bloat," and so then he said "oh, hello little bloat!" Dork.

    Lol, cute!
  • Sweet baby Jesus upon the manger, when did being honest and factual start meaning you're negative?  How do some of these people function in life?  It's not about anyone thinking "they know everything about pregnancy", it's factual science book learning.

It takes strength and determination to button my jeans when I get my period because of hormones and bloating and gas.  Not because Im showing.  The delusions are strong up in here.
Stating facts is not rude how some people choose to state their opinions and the facts is rude
  • I feel you! I grew out of my pants at week 6! My stomach is big all the time poop or no poop. It's harder and rounder than normal and my boobs are GIANT! I am only 8 weeks and have to wear blousy maternity shirts and I feel like people are still lookng hard. It looks like there's a baby in there for sure and/or like I swallowed a gigantic burrito. I looked on Instagram at #8weekspregant and saw lots of other little bumps too. Science or not, our bodies are changing and puffing out! I felt so crazy that I have to wear maternity pants already because I'm way out of my normal pants already
  • I'm 10 weeks and wearing maternity pants. I am on my second child and have been through it all and I know I'm gaining my weight faster this time

Lets be honest, that's really what the people who get ultra defensive on these post are upset about.  I was crazy excited and love being pregnant, to the point where some friends jokingly questioned my sanity.  But I never... because I knew .... lol.  Ladies, if you want to run around poking out and rubbing on your bloat for all to see, have at it.  Screw all those doctors with their science and facts!
  • Yah who cares why your showing? It's probably bloating but exciting none the less!! Maybe twins though???
  • bloat and it will go down. I was extremely bloated at 7 weeks. I am now 10 weeks and not as bloated.

You're never going to be able to please everyone because that is subjective.  That's life.  I reread the comments and the facts part is what people are hung up on. Facts = raining on the parade.  People saying "nah girlfriend it's just bloating but don't worry that bump will be here soon enough", should not diminish the enjoyment of your pregnancy.

@blessingcoming  Im not a fan of spreading misinformation.  It doesn't do anyone any favors and causes panic for those who don't know better..  You should see some of the stuff that people believe on the tri-boards.

I'm 7 weeks today with my 2nd child and yes I'm looking like I did with my first at 5 months. I'm almost 6 feet tall and slender build, pretty fit and I do believe part is bloating but remember ladies with multiple children everything is already stretched and so as that small baby sits in there everything is expanding so bloat or not my tummy is huge and my Dr confirmed that I'm "showing" it's not the baby but everything combined makes you "show"

    I completely agree
