This is more a irrational worry, but I went out for drinks with coworkers and even though I ordered mock tails, I have a fear the bartender misunderstood the order and put booze in. I didn't taste alcohol but I'm feeling a bit fuzzy. It's probably just that this was a very long day but I'm still paranoid!
This is something I would stress about too. Lol. Crazy the stuff pregnancy makes you worry about. You would've tasted alcohol though. I feel fuzzy constantly! On another note, people used to drink during pregnancy, and my 2 OB friends drank wine throughout their pregnancy. So, even IF they misunderstood (which I doubt) I'm betting everything would still be fine with your LO.
DH went to poker night and I was looking forward to picking a movie on Amazon. There is nothing worth seeing that I haven't already! So now I'm too lazy to get off the couch and find something else to do.
My two year old was up puking all night long and continued until 9am. Then proceeded to run around like a madman all day with no nap. WTF. This was my first day off in 13 days and I'd don't have another until next Friday.
I have to answer two of these. You might enjoy some time along with just you and baby. My husband had to take 3 work trips during DS first 6 weeks. I was terrified because I had no help but it was amazing to be alone for a few 3 days at a time. Just make sure he stocks the house with food, tp etc and then proceed to forget the time of day and live like a crazy recluse. I had a super colicky kid too and I still loved being left alone.
And as a former middle school teacher I have to say these children get such a bad rap. It can be a great age if you work hard and approach then the right way. Please don't be scared of your future middle schooler. You will love them as much as your newborn.

Oh my gosh this same thing happened to me! I had everyone try it to make sure. I mean, I've had drinks in the past that tasted like they had no alcohol in them so it could totally happen.
Then that same night I had a dream that I "accidentally" did cocaine and was super worried about the baby. I've never even been around cocaine in my life! It was in jello form in my dream.

I have this same fear... In fact, I was at a casino a few weeks ago and so wanted a virgin piña colada but was too worried they would just give me a regular one and not care... So I ended up with bottled water
All I wanted was a new cute dress for my baby shower this weekend. After 5 stores later I went home and cried. Everything looked terrible on me because everything has to have effin stripes on it! We're pregnant and need other types of clothes that are not striped! Gggrrrrrrr X(

Seriously why is everything horizontally striped?
It took me a while to find a decent shower dress... A lot flared out like an upside down bell shape over my bump. Who wants to look that huge? I finally found something a little more fitted.

No joke!! WHY are maternity clothes striped in such an unflattering fashion? It's like the designers said to each other "Let's just put them in a pattern that makes them look even wider! That's a good plan!" And its almost like there are no solid colors, either, except black or white. So you can wear a black top, a white top, or stripes of any combination of colors. And dresses are always striped.
Friggin' stretch marks are showing up above my hips. Didn't have any with DS. Eff this, I'm going to bed and don't plan to look in a mirror ever again, ughhh!
2 weeks left in my semester and I have so much left to do! I have made a lot of progress on my to-do list but the fact that my weekend is totally booked (for a good reason - baby shower!) is definitely going to put a stumbling block in my homework schedule. As for how I'm dealing with it, I guess I'm just going to get work done while I can and enjoy my time with family and friends! Like I said, this definitely isn't ideal for my schoolwork, but I'm going to have a great weekend so it's not really all that bad... though I'm probably going to be very stressed Sunday night.
Me too! So so much to do in the few remaining weeks of the semester. I can't seem to focus to save my life and our baby shower is tmw. Excited but not looking forward to Sunday.
So I just tried to get rid of my mustache with Nair, as I always do, and now it hurts and looks like I drank fucking Kool-Aid...WTF it always works just fine. :-/

Ugh yes. I went to Old Navy with my SIL yesterday to get one for mine... they had the smallest maternity section ever at this particular location, but I had a gift card so I was bound and determined to get one there. Of course, all they had was black (which I didn't really want for a baby shower, I usually love black but I wanted something more cheerful) and blue (I'm having a girl and while I don't usually do the whole "blue is boys only thing," I just KNOW someone would comment on that and I don't want to deal with that at my shower). So I ended up getting a non-maternity dress. The waistline falls at a sort of awkward place since I no longer have a waist, but other than that, it looks pretty good! Will possibly wear a sweater or jacket with it to cover the waistline.

ETA: my phone hates me.
Yeah I typically wax and since pregnancy it's now popped some blood vessels grrr.
I'm treating myself to a facial today and just hoping it doesn't ruin my skin instead! Will be telling the aesthetician to use gentle products. But I've felt less than awesome body-image wise this week so want a little pampering.
@karaelaine1991 my sis has a dual degree in elementary ed and an MLS (MLIS? what's it called these days?) so I enjoy reading your posts about school. She's currently a librarian in an elementary school.

Yeah everything is black - we are pregnant, not in mourning!

Thank you! it depends on the school, if it's more traditional library oriented, it's MLS but if the program is very big on integrating technology into library services it's MLIS. My school is in the MLIS camp (although, for me personally, while I understand why it's important to embrace tech, I'm really not interested in that aspect haha). That's awesome that your sister's a librarian!

We're doing maternity pictures today and I ordered a dress a couple months ago from destination maternity. I finally got a strapless bra that fits last weekend and like an idiot waited till this morning to try it on. The bra shows in the front, back, and sides because of how the dress is cut. I don't have time to get anything else and I don't want to wear the dresses I have for my showers. I can't find anything cute in stores and thought this one would work. In panic mode now
My shower is in two weeks and i am already dreading it because mom and mil planned it for the convenience of all my family 5 hours away not thinking that by now im uncomfortable and not really feeling up to a five hour drive!!! Ugh so regret agreeing to this!! It makes the idea of thr shower not fun at all!!! Plusss i look horrid in everything i try on for it!! Ugh just not feeling today at all! ( Thanks for always listening ladies!!

well, they do have like.. boob tape, that will hold your breasts up in place of a bra when a dress wont allow it. pretty sure its just called breast lift tape. you could try finding some at a store near you?
It took my lovely SO 2 hrs to figure out what he wanted for dinner. Then asked me to get it and now waiting in some dumb line about to cry thank u very freaking much
@katyertl I am so sorry! I cannot imagine being pregnant in nursing school. It is so hard period and pregnancy would make it that much harder. You go girl! Keep up the studying! You can do it!
I'm annoyed with the fruits and veggies. I was at the store today and I usually go and seek out that weeks veggie. I pick it up and turn it over in my hands, trying to wrap my mind around this thing being in my body. My rant is - an eggplant (28 weeks) looks bigger than an acorn squash (29 weeks) and a cucumber (30 weeks) doesn't help me at all. I may as well hold a ruler. At least an eggplant looks baby shaped, kinda.
I liked it much better when my email from another site compared baby to a chihuahua. At least then it was a silly and cute image.

I did consider that, wound up finding a pretty lace racer back bralette and wearing that didn't look tol bad hanging out. Woke up this morning to a sneak peek of a few pics from our shoot and couldn't be happier with the way they turned out!
What is with all the posts this week where the best answer is just "see your damn doctor"? And a lot of "white knights" calling us meanies recently too. I thought we had left all these types of posts behind month ago!

I'm having a hard time not engaging the white knights in combat. I keep wanting to throw out a Monty Python reference at them (for some reason white knights always put a Monty Python quote in my brain) but I'm afraid they won't get it cause they are too young

Seriously some if these posts have to be fishing for "meanie" responses!
Argh, we spent 4 hours at a car dealership and left empty handed. Like we have more weekends left to deal with this sh*t. We had literally gotten through the entire negotiation and were in the midst of paperwork when they realized that oops they had only one car left and it was in a color we did not want. We had been super flexible but I guarantee they were mad we tried to hold them to a price in their online advertising and they didn't want to make the deal. I ended up bawling. I don't think a crying pregnant lady helped their business as people were coming in so I'm pretty glad about that at least. But it's the second nice day we've had in Boston, I spent it indoors, we have SO MUCH else to do in 8 weeks and I really needed this to just work out.

Booo. that really sucks. But at least you scared away other potential customers, and that gives me a savage glee. :>
I just spent the afternoon making a mobile and when I showed DH...he wasn't too impressed! Argh!
This isn't it but one that I saw on Pinterest
Props to you for trying! I found a mobile on Pinterest that I absolutely adored, but I am reeeeeeally bad at arts and crafts and didn't even attempt it.
If you're not happy with how yours turned out, the one that I ended up registering for on Amazon (and received yesterday as a shower gift) actually is pretty similar to the picture you shared - or, at least, the fabric is. I really like that it plays music and spins, I read that mobiles that do that help babies develop visual tracking skills, which are important for literacy development. Here's the link to the mobile I got if you're interested:
