Toddler air travel for 18+ hours and a week away from mom.

Hi there. Just wanting some input. My husband wants to take our LO on a week trip to visit family/friends. The air travel is 18+ hours. I couldn't go and so LO would be away for a week from me. Am I in the right frame of mind to think this is absurd?

Will your DH be with your LO for the week? If so, I'd say let them go. If it was just going to be my LO with family they didn't really know, I'd be more apprehensive.

My DH cares for the kids PT, so I was a little anxious but mostly happy that he took DS (then 13m) to visit his family. I stayed home with DD. DH first scheduled the trip for 6 days and I was relieved when it was rescheduled for 4 days - that was more doable for me. So, yes, I can see that 7 days would be hard, but in the long run I think it will be just fine.

Just an update. He didn't take him and I'm glad. Pregnancy hormones would have had me crying in a puddle all week. Next year he will go! Thx for the input.

I would have felt the same way. No way DD is going to be away from me for a week at this point.

I would not have been into that at all. Maybe when the child is 3 or something.

I'm with you and would be upset. We are living in sydney, Australia. My dh jokes I can visit home and leave our son. As tempting as it is to visit those that I miss so much, I couldn't be away from him for that long.
