Was your little one a surprise?

It sounds like many people on here were trying, which is great! However, my little peanut was a COMPLETE surprise. Anyone else in the same boat??

  • We were trying to prevent as well. I guess there were bigger plans in store! Congrats!
  • I wasn't preventing it, but we weren't trying either.... Regardless it was definitely a surprise!
  • We were planning on starting to try next year. This was a TOTAL surprise. I'm still processing

  • We were not trying! We've been together almost 6 years but just got married in October. We weren't even sure we wanted kids, but God wanted differently for us!;we trust him in all that we do, especially our children :)
  • Definitely a surprise. We were done done done. This will be number 4
  • Definitely a surprise here. I have a 6 month old... I was on birth control and still nursing. We were hoping to wait a little longer. Then again my first was surprise too...
  • We tried and lost so many times we gave up... Then this little bean!! I feel really sick this time, which is a first, so hopefully that is a good sign! This will be our first!
  • Ours was a semi surprise lol we were trying for over a year and decided let's save for another year and the last time we had sex BOOM baby lol
  • Most def especially since We just had a baby in Dec.. Surprised!!!! already in love
  • Very planned and intentional here

  • @dramaphile me too, exactly!!! Total surprise!
  • @Soyyoyary you just had a baby and now you are pregnant again?
  • Definitely a surprise. We weren't trying but not preventing. My doc told me he suspects I have Endo and I honestly thought I just could not have children. I was actually waiting on my period to start, I had all the symptoms that I thought was my oncoming period. After waiting 12 days for AF to show up, I took a test late at night and there it was. My bfp showed up literally within 3 seconds of peeing on that stick. Lol. Talk about an emotional mess. Holy cow.
  • I'm in the not trying/ not preventing club! Babies will be 18 months apart. We were going to start trying next month so we were pretty surprised! Especially since I'm still breast feeding!

  • We were ttc for over two years, but had been told we would not conceive without medical intervention. We were in the scheduling process of beginning treatment when this sweet little miracle arrived! Biggest surprise of my life! I bawled my eyes out!
  • We weren't preventing or actively trying and assumed that both being over 35 it would take a little while longer. It only took 6 months but unfortunately ended in miscarriage. But then we were surprised to get pregnant again so quickly after the miscarriage (12 days).
  • Most definitely a surprise! I have 3 kids already and he has none. He was told when he was young that, due to an accident, he probably would not be able to conceive. He able tons an ex tried for 8 years with no luck, not even a scare. We got pregnant somewhere within the first 3 times we had sex but were not trying!! My breasts were sore and I was just waiting on my period. Finall, something said go get a test. 5 tests and 5 very, very positives later, it was undeniable!! We were baffled, dumbfounded, happy, scared, and just a whole plethora of emotions LOL ... but now we're very excited!! And he's so emotional. He definitely has couvade syndrome, which in the beginning, before we knew, we both thought he was overworked and had come down with some type of bug. We had a bug alright -- the 40 wk flu!! Lol
  • LO couldn't have surprised us more if it tried. We were actively trying to prevent and (TMI here) had actually been more careful in the weeks leading up to pregnancy than we'd ever been. Now, ta-da!

  • Yup, we tried like once in the fall, then my husband's aunt got sick with cancer and died all of a sudden, we recovered a bit from that and in Feb we thought we missed the chance buuuuut apparently not!
  • Yep definitely same boat. Ive been on the nuva ring since my second daughter whos now 2. We were definitely done. My hubby actually had a vasectomy scheduled for next month. I feel like I should be contacting nuva ring to get my money back.... ;)
  • We just got married dec 6th 2014, I'm 9 weeks as of tomorrow, surprise!
  • Surprise, kind of :-)
We have been "trying" for a little over a year. Had two miscarriages last year & then in February we decided to take a break from "trying" & got pregnant!!!! :)
  • Ours was a surprise. We were preventing and I was just about to go back ok birth control after the period I never got. I feel very fortunate that we were able to get pregnant easily but mentally, physically and financially, we aren't ready, but we're dealing with it the best we can.
  • Funny enough, we got pregnant on our first try and really didn't expect to so quickly! So, even though we had decided to try, it was a surprise that it happened on the first try (especially since we haven't used birth control for about 2 years now)!

ME TOO! I've heard so much that it is hard to get pregnant and some people we know have been trying for 3 years. We were expecting the same. Halleluliah. We got such a little surprise blessing. I'm so excited. But I must confess it does make me a little nervous how easy it was. Like maybe pain will come soon... But I'm optimistic.
  • TOTAL SURPRISE! Actually was trying not to and freaked out at the news. Now, I am just freaking out that everything is OK. Almost 9 weeks and both ultrasounds and exams have been spot on so far. My body had other plans and must have wanted this. Glad to know I am in good company in the "surprise club."  <:-P

  • Surprised here too! Been on the pill since 16... We got engaged in October 2014 and were planning a December 2015 wedding... Missed period on February 4th didn't realize till that next week ... Took tests weekly each a negative result until we got the BFP on 3/29... Funny thing I had thrown it away before the results showed... So sure it was going to be negative again and period would be on its way... Glanced into the waste basket and there were two unmistakable lines... Retested just to be sure and once again BFP! We're so excited... Wanted to have at least a year to ourselves as a married couple but are both 33 years old and feel like it was probably time to get this show on the road anyways☺️
  • Yes but no. We were set to do another IVF April 6th. Instead I found out I was pregnant February 19th! We'd been doing some of our precycle testing gearing up for IVF and I had an ultrasound a couple days before ovulation and I asked my RE which ovary was about to ovulate. He confirmed the right side had a follicle almost ready to go. Since I don't have a right Fallopian tube we certainly weren't going to even bother "trying". But it worked out anyway and an egg from the right traveled to the left tube, made it's way through that mess (left tube is severely damaged) and somehow we've so far ended up with a perfectly healthy pregnancy. Very big surprise but very much wanted!!!

  • I had been trying then gave up trying and then there it was I missed my period I was so happy bt scared...
  • Planned. Been trying for a few months and I just knew we got it right in February. Turned out I was correct.
  • Lol, kind of! I was on Depo birth control for several years, so we figured once I stopped it would take us several months to get pregnant. Nope! Took us a little over a month. We're definitely very lucky, because it takes some women upwards of 18 months to get pregnant after Depo.

  • Definitely not trying we where preventing. I actually was supposed to get tubes tied after my 2nd but insurance messed that up. We are still happy. This was gods plan.
  • We were surprised! We didn't want to start trying until the end of the year as we have a lot of friends weddings and events this year. It took me a few weeks to process it but I am 10w today and had my first ultrasound on Wednesday and I've never had a bigger smile on my face.
  • Ours was a surprise. We've been married a year, but wanted to wait just a little bit longer. The man upstairs obviously had other plans, though.
And the thing is, I know which event little one was concieved... and I remember thinking "yep, that was it. I'm getting pregnant off of that..." lol.
We weren't trying, nor were we preventing. But it's still a happy surprise!
