  • @mellymar I'd skip it if that's what I'd be feeling towards the babysitter!

Exactly. Not knowing many people means I would be taking the recommendation of someone I see maybe twice a week or whatever. Not exactly a situation to warrant a trusting feeling

  • I won't care if little ones show up at mine, but, if the mom and hostesses would prefer no, then it needs to be respected.  Children are not entitled to be everywhere with adults, and participate in all adult events - if I need to stay home with my lo in the future for the same reason, I'll do it with no complaints - my special little snowflake and myself will be just fine.  :)
  • We had an adult wedding also with two kids, my cousins flower girl & ring bearer. It was perfect all of my friends who had kids loved the evening out without their little ones! My hostess ended up putting ladies only on the invite and I'm not going to be evil pregnant lady if one or two come...hopefully their moms will be moms at the event and not ignore them (I'm really only worried about one or two people who tend to not watch their kids when they are out).
  • I am one of the last of my friends to have a baby. For the past 5 or so years, it has been painful to go to their baby showers and celebrate their babies while I wanted one of my own so badly. I had to have a medical issue resolved before I could even start trying and then I had a few miscarriages. Now that this will be my baby shower, having a bunch of kids running around would just feel like they are all rubbing it in my face that I’m not a mom yet and that I’m late to the party. I know that’s not how it really is. Of course that’s not how my friends are or how they feel. But try telling my hormonal brain that!

Anyhoo…it’s *your* shower. If you think kids would distract you from what you want your shower to be, state “adults only” etc. Good Luck!
