I am a FTM and my sons umbilical cord fell off this morning he sorta has a outie and it was bleeding I am wondering when is a good time to give him a bath and will this outtie go down ?
I would wait a day or two more. Even when the cord falls off the inside of his belly button needs to dry out and finish healing. My sons opened up after the cord fell off and there is a high risk of infection when that happens. Good luck!
My son's did the same! My doctor said to wait till everything is totally dried out underneath where the cord was to submerge him in a bath, and my sister in law said she always waited a week to two weeks after the cord fell off so I will probably keep up with the sponge baths another week or so just to be safe.
My daughter's has been bleeding and oozing a little for the last couple days (she's 2 1/2 weeks and lost it about day 10). She has an innie, so I think it's just taking forever to dry out completely. I'll be sponge bathing her for awhile. She hates baths right now, so I'd rather not deal with a slippery crying baby in standing water anyway!
My daughter's fell off at 8 days and i didn't give her her first real bath until last Friday when she was a few days shy if hitting 3 weeks, that's how long it took for it to completely dry out and heal. I agree with whoever said not to give a real bath until it's completely dried ans healed
