I use this site as mild entertainment more than anything. Its pretty funny how worked up you guys get over the dumbest stuff. But DAAAAMN... i think this site must be used as some sort of release for gals to get their claws out. I guess pregnancy hormones will do that to ya

No one said that parlors had to refuse to ink her, but a REPUTABLE place would not have done the work. So, not only was she dumb enough to get tattooed while pg, on top of that she was too dumb to go to a god, clean, responsible place (assuming this is not mud)

Okay lets face it, we would all much rather that she went and got a tattoo then went to go get drunk, do drugs, or take medications which will cross the placenta. The risk ok anything happening to her or her child is very very minimal, I'd be willing to bet that the chances of her having a child with a disability is greater. A few months from now the trauma caused by the tattoo would have more of an affect on her. Just because she was inked does not mean that she did not go to a responsible parlor. Although I am not so certain that the topic of her pregnancy was even brought up, atleast not until they were already in progress. In no way am I defending the idea of getting a tattoo while pregnant, I think that it is a stupid idea but that is my personal opinion.
I got a tattoo back before I was pregnant. Like a month or so before and I was going to get it recolored because my skin didn't take good to the red and I asked my doctor if it was fine during pregnancy because my stupid a*s wasn't sure and he told me to wait till after the baby because your more proned to get an infection from it and then it travels through your blood to the baby.

Not what I ment! Silly! I just ment that you should subject your unborn child to any harm! I am just as mad as the next person!! This is my first PG and I have enough commom sense not to do something like that!!

MH got a tattoo from one of our friends "early" on in my pregnancy and he asked him if I could get a tattoo (just b/c I had been talking about it before I got preggers - but knew not to get one while). He told MH that he absolutely would not tattoo any woman who was pregnant b/c the risk of infections and disease in general, even if it is a totally sterile and reputable place.
Ooooo, only a few more responses till this post beats the 'dog peed on baby' post.

i haven't read all the responses, so this may have been covered, but unless your uncle bubba gave you the tat, you had to sign a release form stating that you are NOT pregnant because of the inherent risks. so, either this is MUD, or you are quite possibly the stupidest bumpie ever.
wrong-o. i asked when i went with a friend for her to get a tat what exactly the risks are in getting them while pg (not that i would risk it, but i was curious)
yeah, the stress on your body of the tat can cause a MC. your body freaks out bc the ink is foreign and attacks anything it might see as foreign, including baby.
again, at a REPUTABLE parlor, you would assume that the tattoo artist is smart enough not to go too deep......reputable being the key word. You seem to be missing this point entirely. If the place was reputable they would have asked her if she was pg long before starting the tat, not after they were already into as you stated earlier. A good place, with good artists, you not have touched her with a 10 feet needle!
your body doesn't only fight infections in the veins. even something that barely scratches the surface can get infected...and can be seen as something foreign to the body. that's why if a kid scrapes his knees, you use neosporin...

The risk of infection does not go up just because she is pregnant. Its always the same, you run the same risk with everything. Getting a tattoo is much safer than doing a line or using a needle. There are much more harmful things that she could be doing.
all of it is, is what i am saying. the ink is a foreign body, when you get a tat, it stresses your body out, and your body goes into fighting mode so-to-speak. the ink isn't the main concern, but your body does go in to hyper mode and fight off anything foreign, which could include a fetus.
i am not anti tat, i have one. but this is exactly how it was explained to me when i went with a friend who had been TTC. we asked why they weren't allowed to do it, they said on top of the risk of infection and disease, it can cause a miscarriage.
duh, but when you are pregnant and your body begins killing off foreign matter, that can include your baby!
