HCG testing

I just found a website that will let me request an hcg blood test and go to the lab to find out my levels. I know I'd have to go at least twice to make sure they're rising. Just wondering. .. is it totally crazy to request blood tests to make sure everything's going okay? Waiting for an ultrasound until week 8/9 seems SO long!

    I've been tempted to do this in the past, but you can often talk your doctor into checking it if it will calm your nerves, worst case scenario, a walk-in clinic could check your levels, but you would have to pay out of pocket.

    I had a 3rd done today. They typically do only 2, but a 3rd to calm your nerves is totally fine.

    My ob doesn't do hcg testing.. just pee tests. Which is so odd to me because it seems like most people know their levels.

    The only reason I ever got tested was because of a past problem.  My first two pregnancies, I went in for confirmation and then an ultrasound at 8 weeks.  

    I got levels done with my three losses and my third pregnancy because I had an ectopic and the doctor wanted to make sure the levels were rising like they should.  This time around I had an initial blood draw and I didn't go back for another one.  I go back at a little over 7 weeks for ultrasound.  

    I actually feel much more relaxed without knowing.  It was so stressful going in for blood draws and waiting for numbers and then stressing over what the numbers meant.  There is such a wide range they could be and some numbers don't exactly double in 48 hours but knowing all that doesn't change anything.  

    You are pregnant right now.  Enjoy that time and celebrate it!  Just have hope and trust that all is okay and you will find your answers soon enough
