  • How many weeks is she?? Do you lay her on her crib after she falls
asleep or do you put her on your bed?? Did this start once you took the
fenogreek?? Ive never tried fenugreek before but it seems like the
fenugreek didnt do her so well. Honestly know its been tough but just be
near her and cuddle her. She may be having stomach problems or she isnt
feeling well and needs your comfort. Try your best to sleep along side
her so she feels your warmth and so you can sleep a bit too. But two
blankets on top of her and also add a heavy blanket so she can feel a
bit of weight on top of her. This will make her feel like its you and
she wont get startle if she wakes up a bit. comfort her and have you
given her any gas drops?? that usually helps sometimes!!
  • I'd try gas drops first and maybe stop taking the fenugreek for a day or so to see if that's what's affecting her. It could just be a little phase she's going through.. Or she may be having a growth spurt needing to eat more than usual causing her to sleep less and be a bit more fussy. Try laying her on her belly on a blanket on the ground and see if that helps her digestion at all. Also, make sure she doesn't have a fever just in case?
  • Are you eating onions or garlic? That has been known to give breast fed babies a lot of gas and it's very uncomfortable for their tiny little bodies. We striggled with gas with my first baby. I didn't know about the onion/garlic connection until she was 3 or 4 months, as soon as I found out I cut it from my diet and things got a lot better. It didn't make the gas go away entirely, but it improved it greatly.
  • shes a little more than 4 weeks. in the da time i put her in her bed and at night she sleeps with me.
  • i keep her with me all day if im not with her, my mom or my husband is. im definently stopping the fenugreek. but as for the gas drops, ill have t buy them tomorrow, the store is closed :(
  • Just breathe and hang in there, mama... It can be overwhelming when they're crying so much, but try to stay calm.
  • I definitely would try the gas drops, too. I use them pretty constantly after a day or two of similar symptoms in our little one. She is doing much better. Also, what formula are you supplementing with? There is such a variety, but formula can be harder on the stomach and cause more gas and reflux than breastmilk. You may need to try a different brand or one for sensitive or colicky infants. And if it keeps up, definitely call your doctor.
  • I would steer clear of putting two blankets on top of a newborn maybe a nice snug swaddle instead. Have you tried gently pushing her legs to her chest to help her work out some gas. YouTube it. Works wonders with our boy. Gripe water seems to do the trick for us.
  • In addition to what PPs said, try rubbing her belly in clockwise circles. It will help work the gas out. Definitely do leg pumping too.

  • thank god she did stop crying later on in the night and she did finally go to sleep I gave her some formula and when she burped it was pretty big and she burped a few more times. it still was kind of a long night for me because she wouldn't sleep next to me, she had to be on me, which I do love but scares me (out of fear of falling asleep and dropping her). So all night she slept on my chest nice and cuddled up with me but i kept waking up to make sure she was ok.
Thank you all for the advice and the support. even though we don't know each other we all are in the same mommy boat and the support that we all give each other is amazing in so many ways. Thanks again everyone! I deeply appreciate it!
  • Sadly this is just normal newborn phase. It panicked me too when I went through the first week with my baby and she wouldn't stop eating and fussing. She doesn't let me put her down either. Usually my DH will let me sleep 4 to 5 hours while he feeds her pumped breast milk, then I take over and let her sleep on me on the couch for the rest of the night. It's all that has kept us sane through the clingy newborn phase so far.

  • My pediatrician recommended Gerber Soothe drops. We put 5 drops in our baby's early evening feed and it helps the colic or gas. He's definitely a lot happier and it makes a difference. Also, sign up for Amazon prime! No need to go to the stores. Just watch out for the midnight purchases. Hahaha!
  • My 4 week old has has had gas problems that past four weeks. We started to give him colic calm at night and it seems to help. We also give him little remedies gas rielf after every feeding.

Have you tried lactation cookies? They worked for me until my supply caught up.
  • My baby has been having the same problem the last couple of days. I feel bad because over the holiday weekend I ate a lot of stuff that clearly didn't sit well in her tummy.
The gas drops have helped , and I lay her on her back and move her little legs and push them up towards her chest. It helps a lot to get the gas moving. She's still fussy, but it's getting better
  • UPDATE:
so i did do all the leg pumping and tummy rubbing. she does burp and pas gas a lot. my dad told me to give the fenugreek capsule one more try just to make sure that IT IS that capsules that make her gassy or not. i took ONE capsule yesterday...ONE!  FENUGREEK IS THE PROBLEM!!! it got me sick like idk what and my little girl is gassy and fussy again! so i'm gonna cut them out of my life completely. she was getting better still gassy but not like when i first took them. that's it...im divorcing the fenugreek. they were powerful and my milk came in REALLY quick and LOT! but i cant give my baby something that's hurting her. not only that, it hurts my hubby too. poor man can't sleep because the three of us are awake from 1:30-6 AM! my poor darling can't go to work because he's sooooo tired. and peledream, pointed it out, she eats and cries, cries and eats. poor baby. i was even scared that i'm overfeeding her, but she eats as if she never ate in her whole month of life! im going to have to try something else.

  • Have you heard of Greens by ItWorks? A lot of people say that it really helps their milk supply. It has a full serving of your daily fruits and veggies, which is so hard to get as a new mom. I struggle to eat 3 square meals a day! I get the greens on the go, they come in a packet like crystal light and you put it in your water bottle. May be worth checking out, and it is natural and gentle to you and baby - not to mention giving you nutrients you both need!
