If it makes you feel any better I see a specialist bc I have PCOS and I had my mirena removed at the beginning of December. I had my first cycle in February that lasted a little over a month. With that being said, my Dr told me that it could take 6mos to a year for my body to get back on track after being on BC for so long and not to worry that my cycles may be abnormal. Its just an adjustment your body has to make and it does it on its own time. So I wouldnt worry just yet about it- like everyone else says- give it a year! The cycle thing is definitely your body getting back on track and that can take time. Good luck
sorry realized I've been confusing... I am 100% not planning on going to a specialist at this point- was just hoping to go to my obgyn and figure out the light period thing. But, I will give it more time before asking my obgyn. I'm hoping it's just my body regulating- I just didnt think it'd take this long. It's April and I stopped BC in Nov. My OBGYN said she'd bet I'd be pregnant by March and my mom keeps saying it will happen really soon so it's freaking me out a bit that my hormones are off or something. I don't think I need to go to a fertility specialist - I get you should wait a year. But, just was wondering if it was worth a visit to by gyn to say im having weird periods. I don't know- I'm confusing myself too. I'm sorry. You're right- I'm being an alarmist.
It was unkind & unprofessional for your OB to say when she thought you'd be pregnant. Your mom isn't doing you any favors either.
Truly, it can take a year & giving yourself a chance is the best thing you can do.
So much this. Yet another example of why OBs should leave fertility concerns to REs. OP, I think you've been given some really good advice. I sincerely hope you consider some of it.
