Cravings

We haven't had one of these in a while. What are your latest cravings? On the opposite end, is there any foods that you can't stand right now or make you ill?

I'm mostly craving steak lately. Sweets too, but that's nothing new. I'm thankful I don't work in the bakery this pregnancy. There was temptation at my fingertips all the time with DS. As for aversions, Italian, more specifically red sauce gives me wicked heartburn, as does spicy Mexican, which is one of my favorites. Boo.

Re: Cravings

  • Love this!
I am currently craving steak as well. There's nothing I love more than a nice, juicy, rare steak (which I know is a no-no, but oh well) along with a nice baked potato with lots of butter and sour cream. Also, meatloaf. My friend's step-dad makes the most amazing meatloaf and I love it when he makes it for Sunday dinners so I can pig out.
On the more sweet side, I crave bananas and Air Heads candies, I don't know what my obsession with the artificially fruity candy is, but I always grab a pack when I stop at the gas station.
For food aversions, I still cannot stint pizza. The idea of eating it, looking at it or smelling it still makes my stomach flop which my in-laws find funny considering that DH has a strange love affair with said food item.

  • Cookies.... And sweets after dinner. Which not pregnant I could resist..... But I now have no willpower..... Stupid brain. I also love salty food but that was more of a 1st trimester thing. ( pickles, chips, Mexican food )
  • Fun thread! I'm craving scones and cookies. I wish this one would stop! I have NO willpower. I'm also craving beef, and almond butter with fruit.

Italian food is also a big no for me. Gives me awful integestion!
  • Smoothies and soft serve frozen yogurt. I cant get enough!!! But keep me away from salmon ewwwww
  • Recently, ice cream, way too much ice cream
  • Still craving apples w/peanut butter, all fruit, childrens cereals (peanut butter captain crunch, cinnamon toast crunch, cocoa puffs :-S )
Not having any food aversions right now! Yay!
  • Jelly beans! I bought 4 bags last night but they remain unopened awaiting Easter.... Not sure how long that will last!

Still craving a turkey sub and sushi. But mostly I eat anything I crave except those no-no items. I still chug several glasses of milk a day, I've been obsessed with milk since first trimester!

No aversions, I am all about food! Or at least no aversions that I didn't have pre-pregnancy.
  • Rare streak is my biggest craving now. Most place never make it rare anyway and the outside is good and brown. I drink a lot of milk too.

Mexican food which has always been a favorite of mine makes my stomach turn. It has the entire pregnancy. I've had it a couple times just to try it and it always ended badly.

  • I haven't had any true cravings. I'm like the anti-pregnant lady- HA! I'll get a moment here and there, mostly for a good sandwich or a burger, but for the most part I've actually gotten very ambivalent about food. It's weird. No real aversions, either.

  • I still hate most food, mostly vegetarian diet now. I love porridge but it gives me terrible heart burn. I love apple and black currant juice.

My only craving is beer. I don't drink beer when I'm not pregnant but oh my god it makes my mouth water and I just can't get the thought of a nice cold savoury beer from a bottle out if my head. Driving me bonkers!!

I did read somewhere that beer if it didn't have alcohol would be the best prenatal vitamin on the market.

Good beer, like a stout or an IPA or a craft brewed lager, actually does have good stuff like hops and natural yeast and vitamins in it, but not something like a Budweiser (I guess it could have something in it, but most of the major US brands have over processed their beer so much, and they are heavy with the GMO ingredients). I've also heard that hoppier beers (pales ales, IPAs) and stouts or porters help promote milk production in breastfeeding moms.

I personally have been craving a nice hoppy beer. Stouts were more my thing before pregnancy, and I would still love a stout, but I've been stockpiling the seasonal hoppy offerings over the winter for enjoyment (in moderation, of course!) after ewok comes

  • Corn on the cob. Ears and ears of it! Yummmm!

Aversions: anything with tomatoes. Reflux is the worst. The. Worst.
  • BEER.. blue moon with a fresh orange slice sounds so amazing right now. Also margaritas!

This is me exactly!  Most nights I wish I had cravings so I could plan a meal, instead I always have to defer the choice to my SO.
  • Awww man I was trying to avoid this thread for fear of having a new craving! Especially since I'm trying to eat healthier than usual because of GD. Now I want cereal after someone had mentioned it.

Like the PPs I was really ambivalent about food. Sometimes halfway through a meal I feel grossed out. Then until about a month ago...

I wanted donuts. Maybe it's because I've been avoiding sweets for so long? I never cared about donuts until recently. So one day I caved in and had a donut sundae! Ice cream and donuts! Heaven! I was being careful and shared with other people so I don't eat the whole thing but it's still pretty bad. I felt a little guilty after. Does it help that the donut was gluten free and I had almonds for a topping? Probably not.
  • Uhhhh, cookie dough...

And pasta!! Mac and cheese or spaghetti, eeeeven thought it gives me heartburn.
  • Citrus fruit, peanut butter toast, water and seafood have been my biggest cravings. However, I just got the biggest craving for cookies and cream ice cream-but it needs to be served in a big ice cream cone!! I must get this tonight!!

Oh donuts... I love donuts! The good thing (kind of?) is that my favorite kind are only made in my hometown so I'd have to drive 3.5 hours to fully satisfy that particular craving. If they were here I'd be in trouble!

  • Sweets-- I can't get enough of them!
  • So I have been craving a monster energy drink- the green one. My husband drinks them occasionally and I've only ever had a couple sips in the past but it sounds so good for whatever reason!
  • Can't stand sweets lol , I'm a bit g chocolate fan!! Not anymore
  • Cake cake cake! No frosting just the cake any kind really! It's driving me crazy! Iv decided my last week I'm making one just how I want it and not feeling bad about eating as much as I want!
  • @CillyMama - gluten free and almond toppings? Totally valid

  • @mellymar Thanks! I feel a little better about it now. I don't think I'll have another one though :)
  • Ahhhh!!!!! I've been craving the red Monster. I feel like I may be doing a lot of pumping and dumping here soon.

ICE!! I cannot stop eating it. I even wake up in the middle of the night craving it and can't go back to sleep until I have some.

I just read an article about craving ice while pregnant can be another sign of Pica!

I did not hate chicken until pregnancy. I feel like it's all I can eat! No hot dogs or cold cuts or sushi! I've tried to sprinkle in burgers, seafood, eggplant. But so sick of chicken.
  • Ohh me too steaks rare , baked potato smothered in sour cream . and cookies ..I hate sweets but during this pregnancy.. Bring on the cookies!!
  • I can't go to bed until I've had ice cream or cookies every single night.
