I went in at 4 weeks for my initial appt and got blood work and a pap. Next appt not until May 21st at 12 weeks. I have my sequential screen then right after my 12 week appt.

I'm 5 weeks now.

Will they do an US? Trying to see if my husabnd should come with that day.

  • I would think they would do an ultrasound then. I went for bloodwork at 4 weeks, and have an appt on April 14 (7 weeks) for ultrasound and prenatal appt

  • At my doctors office us are scheduled. Unless there is an issue where they want to do one asap. If I wanted to make sure I had an us I'd call the office and set up an us for the same day. (or I can schedule online) otherwise I think my doctor would probably just schedule one for another day.

  • My ultrasounds are scheduled as their own appts. Can you call and ask what to expect at that appointment? That's what I did and they provided detailed information.
  • I would say ask your dr. I thought they would given so many do but our office doesn't do it until the anatomy scan.
  • So i called them and they said the sequential screen will be my ultrasound for 12 weeks but their office doesnt have an ultrasound machine so it will just be heartbeat, bloodwork, blood pressure and 1 other thing.

After my consult with maternal fetal medicine i will probably have an ultrasound when i see them for my appts. At my regular ob not until the anatomy scan at 20 weeks.

Hopefully MFM will see me more frequently then 1 month like regular OB. My high risks arent in the beginning of pregnancy but in the middle. Had my first daughter at 23 weeks with PPROM and placental abruption.
  • Every doctor is different. We originally thought I was 11w3d, so I went in today for a nuchal translucency scan, but it turns out I'm 8w4d. Normally my doctor wouldn't have ordered an US this early. I have to go in for another US at the end of April for the NT scan since I wasn't far enough along this time, & then I don't get another until around 20 weeks.

  • I just had this come up when I switched OBs. Both doctors are in the same office and the one I was scheduled with does early scans, and my new OB does not. If your doctor doesn't require one and you still want one, it doesn't hurt to ask.
  • Bc you are 12 weeks they may not do one bc they should be able to hear Doppler heartbeat by then. Bc I was 9 weeks when I went today they said they were going to do an US since they wouldn't be able to hear yet otherwise. However, I will and you still would get an ultrasound at the 13 week scan. So if you don't get one at your first appt no worries. My hubby couldn't come today which was a bummer but he will come to that.
  • I'm only concerned because of my 1st pregnancy. So I told the nurse today that I need the dr. to call me and discuss a better plan. I need some assurance that everything is okay. I don't care if it's an US or the heartbeat or even checking hcg levels. I need something since we don't exactly know why I went into preterm labor

  • I went to my fertility doctor and I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks. Were having twins. He could see the heartbeats then. I go back on the 7th for my 9week ultrasound we get to hear the heartbeats this time.
