I woke up this morning and had (what I think is) a large spot of dried milk on my shirt and bed. I had heard that you can start lactating a little before baby arrives but I am 21 weeks. Does this seem early to anyone else?
It was probably colostrum, not milk. Colostrum is totally totally normal to be leaking at 21 weeks. I started noticing it at about 17. In fact, I think colostrum is what your baby drinks the first day or so after their born until milk comes in. Don't panic! Unless you see blood in it, my doc said its perfectly normal.
I started leaking last week at 17 weeks. I had the same issue with the first as well. It's gross to wake up covered in the stuff but totally normal as long as there is no blood. I've started wearing breast pads to bed to keep it from getting on the sheets.
20 weeks mine came in. No worries mama you will be ok and babe will have milk. This is when I bought reusable breast pads so I didn't leak on my clothing
Different with everyone, I have known women who didn't show any signs of leaking until the last few weeks... With all of my pregnancies I noticed that I would only have leaking when I took a hot shower for weeks before I noticed anything showing up on my shirt or bra, and if you decide to breast feed it is best to shower soon after feeding or pumping because something about the heat from the water causes your body to start producing more milk and the more full your breasts are the more they leak
Oh my! So glad I'm not alone. Woke up this morning with what looked like a spot where my breasts had leaked on my sheets and was freaking. I was going to post this as a question and it happened to be on the first page. I'm a FTM also and was a little weirded out.
Every now and then I'll notice my t-shirt is a tiny bit wet if I go braless. Has happened ever since I stopped breastfeeding DD at a year, long before I fell pregnant again. My OB said that never goes away for some women. Just another wonderful way your body changes.
Be careful pumping while pregnant it produces a hormone that can induce labor , I actually pumped with my last child to go into labor. I wouldn't pump until it got a little closer .
Re: lactating already?
I think I'll invest in some breast pads
