Would it be completely bizarre?

Earlier this week we found out we are having a baby girl! My husband and I had decided 100% on a boys name, but haven't settled totally on a girls name. Our daughter's name is Juniper and my husband randomly suggested the name Maple (jokingly at first) and now has said he really loves it. I'm obviously not opposed to unique names (I'm aware that opinions on Juniper are pretty varied) and I actually like the name Maple, but I'm worried people will think we're fricken nuts naming both of our children after trees! I've suggested the name Mabel as it sounds so similar, but I can't seem to sway him.

What are the opinions on the name Maple? Too out-there? We are considering the middle name Rose (family name). Don't hold back, I can take any and all opinions!

I personally like Mable over Maple. I honestly thought of syrup (I litteraly pictured a bottle of breakfast syrup) before I thought of the tree. Ultimately it's up to what you guys choose and like.

I also prefer Mabel. Maple isn't too far out there, but it does strike me just a bit strange for both of your daughters to have relatively obvious tree names. It's cute, though, and there's nothing wrong with it at all! In the end, it's absolutely up to you and DH!

I actually really like it as far as unique names go! I have a more traditional style but I could certainly picture an adorable little girl named Maple

And I wouldn't care that they are both named after trees, totally not a big deal.

I love the idea of sticking with the tree theme. Love Juniper not a fan of Maple but I don't hate it. What about Aspen?

Maple over Mabel 100%. I like the tree theme, and if you love it, go with it.

Our girl name is similar to my dogs name, and I really don't care about anyone's opinion. (For that reason we have decided to keep all names complete secrets from our families.) We are absolutely obsessed with our girl name, and I think that's all that matters.

When I hear Maple I think of maple bacon! Willow is another tree. I'm not familiar with trees so that's all I could think of other than a Christmas tree but I doubt you want to call your baby Christmas haha

Thanks for all of the feedback! Certainly more positive feedback than I anticipated! Our boys name was Archer....so not a tree! I'm not a fan of the name Willow....hadn't really thought about Aspen before. The more I think about the name Maple the more it's growing on me. I'm normally not the type to worry about what other people are going to say, and certainly have had our fair share of rude comments about the name Juniper. I think it's just that Juniper historically has been used as a name and I'm worried Maple is more like just taking a word and making it a name (if that makes any sense at all!)

Actually, it was Mabel, not Maple. I also second Aspen instead. I've known an Aspen and she was pretty cool. Maple just doesn't have the same fluidity to it.

Thanks everyone! I posted a similar thread on the "Baby Names" board and got nothing but very negative feedback. Which I guess I shouldn't be surprised at, but it's a complete opposite of the feedback I've gotten here! They all said Maple was way too weird and gave me suggestions like "Lake" and "Poppy" which I have a hard time seeing as less unique than Maple.

I'm still not 100% sold (my husband certainly is!!) and we're continuing to toss around a few ideas, but keeping Maple on the short list!
