17 weeks still no movement?

Im a little over 17 weeks as a FTM. I read all these posts about moms feeling the flutters, poping sensation, rolling etc and I STILL haven't felt anything that made me think oh wow that is undeniably my baby. When should I feel these movements? When should I begin to worry?

Re: 17 weeks still no movement?

  • I first felt at around 19 weeks. I had asked my OB when to expect or worry before and she said it's not uncommon not to feel anything until 24 weeks! If you're panicking you could get a Doppler for at home use.

  • I don't think I felt flutters with my first until around 19/20 weeks. Felt them alit sooner this time around, probably 17 weeks.

I wouldn't worry. I was told to lay still on your bed and you might feel something.
  • FTM's typically don't feel movement until a little later. With my first I was probably around 25-26 weeks, but the placenta was in the front and acting like a cushion. I would not worry at all if I was not feeling movement at 17 weeks. It will happen soon enough.
  • I'm a STM at 20 weeks and although I've felt flutters nothing major. I know it's hard not to compair yourself to others (because I've done it to when I hear STMs that have felt full kicks at this pointt) but we're all different. You'll feel him or her soon enough. :)
  • Thank you all! I'm not too worried because I just had an appointment last week and I know everything is fine I'm just being impatient! Lol thank you all for the feedback hoping to feel my little one soon! [-O<
  • 18 weeks and haven't felt a damn thing. My doc said not to worry until after 22 weeks.
  • I'm 18 weeks and nothing but my placenta is in the front blocking like another poster said. Everyone keeps telling me in a few weeks I'm going to learn to be careful what I wish for but I'm just so excited to feel something.
  • I'm 21 weeks today and have felt occasional flutters but nothing consistent or anything with my hand. I was a little worried till I read these posts now I feel a bit better being its my first time :). Thanks ladies
  • FTM and I NEVER felt flutters or fish swimming or popping. Totally skipped all of that. I felt a little twitch around 16 weeks and then nothing after. I too was feeling sad and was wondering why I wasn't feeling anything when most of the ladies on here were. But even my doctor told me at that time I may not feel the baby until after 23 weeks. Then at 19 weeks I felt the baby actually move in me! Now at 20 weeks 5 days I now feel it almost daily. All will be fine mama :)
Always hold on to hope ❤
  • Thanks ladies. I'm just going to continue patiently waiting. Will you absolutely 100% know when it happens? I'm afraid I'll feel it but then brush it off because I won't be sure if it's the baby or not.

I'm 21 weeks and have just started feeling him. I have an anterior (in the front) placenta like another poster so that made it tough to feel anything. I started feeling twitches around 19 weeks but wrote it off as growth spasms, gas etc. it wasn't until an ultrasound when I saw him kick and felt it that I realized what I had been feeling was actually the baby.
  • I am 21weeks and just now feeling her a lot. I felt sensations here in there from about 18'weeks but now I know it's her. Her daddy even felt her last night. I'll be 22 weeks Saturday.
