Anyone still dealing with winter weather feel me on this?

Me leaving for work this morning...

LOL... i've jinxed myself having said that i was pregnant at the perfect time to avoid needing a maternity coat. NY/NJ needs to get to spring already. Please and thank you :)

Re: Anyone still dealing with winter weather feel me on this?

  • NE Wisconsin here and while we've had about two weeks of decent weather (mid 30s to mid 50s), we're about to get some snow/rain mix starting tomorrow night, and the next two weeks temps are forecast to go down again with some days of winter precipitation thrown in randomly here and there. I definitely feel like an overstuffed sausage in my coat. Good news is since I'm rarely outside for extended periods of time I don't actually *have* to zip it up, cause I'm just going from house to car, then from car to destination building, etc.
Soon. Hopefully soon we will be able to rock hoodies and sweatshirts only again.

  • @mellymar avoiding the outdoors is key!! On the weekends i dont bother with my coat since im usually just in and out of the car and for that i'm thankful. But my commute from Jersey to Times square involves a 10 min drive to the train station, an hour train ride and a 11 block walk... and it was only 23 degrees when i left the house this morning!  And then i get to do it all again on the way home lol Thursday is supposed to hit 60 degrees and I'm SO excited!!

I'm so ready for hoodies and maxi dresses!!
  • Yaaass!!!
Had to switch to my lighter peacoat just so I can fasten it! DH said that my regular zip up coat looked like it was super uncomfortable, which ok, yeah, it is, but I didn't realize others could see the discomfort, lol

  • @Mommaswizz before we moved here this past summer we lived in Rockaway, Queens, NYC and I commuted via train and / or ferry to work in Manhattan. So I very much know the joys of standing outside for a half hour (or more!) in below freezing temps while waiting on public transportation. I'm imagining it now, and I *can* still zip my coat, its just...hard. Ugh, and I hope you don't have to stand on your train rides... When I took the train home from work it was an hour ride, I can't imagine strap-hanging that whole way pregnant. Show that bump off and get a kindly gentleman to give you his seat.

  • @mellymar waiting for the subway outside is the worst in the winter! I lived by the last stop on the N/R in astoria in my mid-20's and I remember that pain all too well!! Thankfully, my train stop now is the first stop in the mornings so I always get a seat in the morning (THANK GOD!). I'm pretty good about getting a seat in the evenings but it means navigating through Penn Station like a boss to ensure I'm getting on the train before the crowds. Thus far i've only had 2 really bad commutes since getting pregnant. The first was at 9 weeks and it involved a drunk elderly woman cursing me out for sitting next to her on the train (she was sitting in the middle seat of a 3 seater row)... that was a lot of fun lol. The second was around 18 weeks and it involved getting shoved in a jam packed Penn Station... people are SO RUDE.

I've tried to take advantage of working from home when it was snowy to avoid the commute and crazy people but now that the weather is getting "nicer" (which is hilarious to say), i feel like im just pushing my luck asking to work from home when i have no other excuse than "My coat doesn't fit" or "I don't want to deal with crazy commuters" HAHAHAHA
  • haha Even with my maternity coat I feel this way! It's not good.
  • @Mommaswizz Penn Station. I love the madness that is Penn Station. I used to catch a LIRR train from there once or twice a week to go to Islander games after work. Going thru there does require crowd-walking-dodging like a boss. Ahhh... I miss it but at the same time am glad I don't have to deal with it while preggers. May the transit gods speed you on your journeys. ❤

  • Bless you @mellymar !!  I will take all the positive commuting vibes I can get! lol Only a few more months till i can get a break from mass transit hahaha
  • I refused to buy a maternity coat and got one of those cape coats instead. Very chic when not pregnant but can also accommodate a bump, so I'll use it in the future as a regular winter coat. My northface officially stopped zipping as of yesterday :(
  • @serenamarr Yess!! My spring jacket is kind of cape-like but it doesn't go all the way to my wrists so my arms are still exposed. I'm looking forward to switching over to that jacket once this weather can stay above 50! lol
  • It snowed 6 inches in SW Wisconsin last night. I had to dig my winter coat back out. Winter needs to GO!
  • Preach! I feel like Randy from "Christmas Story" when he's waddling around in his snow suit! I'm in Chicago and we had one day last week in the almost 70s and I was happy as a clam in my maxi skirt. Back to the snow waddle this week. We're at 5" today already :((

  • This one is better hahahaha image
  • Ugh yes my north face stopped fitting months ago and I refused to spend big bucks on a single time use winter jacket. I bought a cheapie at Marshalls but it's not been good enough for the Boston weather. I also travel by public transit and waiting for the trains outside and the several block walk to work has just royally sucked. Although I realize I am going to run into the same issue with a spring jacket also being too small..
  • It is still so cold here and my winter coat is TIIIIIGHT.... Your video says it all! I was not going to buy a maternity coat but after this winter I probably should have!
  • I have a maternity coat but I have not worn it all winter... And I'm In Minnesota. This kid has made me a damn furnace.

  • Here in kentucky we had like 3 weeks of warmer weather now it's freezing rain and light snow tonight. Guess I'll have to see if my coat still zips in the morning ❄️
  • Today it is only 22 degrees and I just can't deal with coat anymore so I chose to freeze instead :(
  • @ElRuby UGH YES! It's 28 right now and I seriously could not deal with a coat today so I decided to work from home (well that and a painful sore throat). Tomorrow is supposed to get up in the 40s and im just gonna freeze in the morning because i refuse to be sausaged again!
  • @Mommaswizz I totally get it.  I live in NJ and can not wait.  I broke out the flats 2 weeks ago because I was tired of wearing boots (not to mention that bending over to put on boots is getting harder and harder!) My one co-worker laughs at me when I come dressed in what I would normally consider summer like attire but I get so hot I can't help it.

Loving the fact that this is the first winter in 3 years at my company that I haven't been able to complain about the cold office but I am ready to ditch that winter coat that barely buttons!!!
  • sarahsiracusa i'm dying to wear flats!! I feel like i'm totally over wearing my uggs. They're not as easy to get on as they used to be. I'm jealous that your office is cold! Mine is the exact opposite that they crank up the heat so me and my pregnancy hormones were DYING this season. I actually had to buy a thermometer to help me see that i wasn't going crazy when i thought it was almost 90 degrees (it was getting up to 88 most days!!). I contacted HR and they gave me the green light to go home/ work from home whenever i got uncomfortable. Hated feeling like a whiney pregnant chick but it was legit making me sick in the office.
