The Sucky SH*T They Do To Me...
Tomorrow they are having a "grandma to be" shower at work for the head school aid. This is the 3d baby shower at work this year, and though I don't go I have given money everytime. The last one I went to at work I got very upset (they read this poem about how life begins when you become a mom, and gush about how there is nothing like a baby...really hurtful over the top stuff if you are going through IF). So like DH says "don't go you've been to enough of them." So anyway, this shower is during regular school hours (the afternoon tutor session) All the students in the program are being brought to the auditorium so the staff can go to the party. Guess who was asked to be the babysitter?

It's not an assembly. They are just throwing the kids in the auditorium and telling them to do sustained silent reading. It is completely against the law!!!!!!! I have to do crowd control with my AP. I have never felt more singled out in my life. I couldn't say no though. I need to stay on their good side if I am going to start IVF before the school year ends.
ETA: I can't call in sick because I don't have enough days. Used too many due to IF.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

That is by far the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Not so much the grandma shower, but doing it during school and throwing all the kids in a room to read?!? And for them to ask you to be the babysitter just tops the cake! I would be upset too!!

That is total crap and if it were my kid who had to sit in an auditorium instead of getting tutoring I would be pissed too!
I would call out sick or have to leave early that day for an appointment. Or leave early because you are feeling sick!
