My doctor told me I was positive for Gbs , he told me that everything will be fine if I take antibiotics on the day I deliver, I'm very concerned for my baby if anybody knows about this I will appreciate sharing some information.
With DS1 I was unknown because he was born at 31 weeks, so I was treated for it anyways. With DS2 I was positive and just had antibiotics while I was in labour. This time I'm positive as well so the same antibiotics for 4 hours before baby comes. If I don't get 4 hours of antibiotics in before s/he comes (I have pretty quick labours) then we will be kept at the hospital for 60 hours for observation, as per the policies of my hospital.
I didn't have it last time but have it this time. My doctor just said they give antibiotics as PP's mentioned, and to make sure I go to the hospital if my water breaks so they can start them.
I'm + too and very upset about it. I didn't want any IVs during labor and now I'll be anchored to my drip. Very sad and disappointed. (
@chlsyswll I'd ask if they can just give you the shot through a saline lock. I don't think getting the antibiotics every 4 hours necessarily will force you to be stuck to an IV.
Yea, they can hep lock your IV in between getting the antibiotics. It's not the end of the world or rare by any means. Like 30% of women are GBS positive...
Re: Positive for Gbs
Breathe mama! You will be fine. The good thing is you know.
And just an FYI. I'm negative this round.
Don't worry about it- if your water breaks or you start contracting 5-1-1 then head on in.
I was GBS+ with my 2nd, and this time around I am GBS -.
