Woah... My sister, a nurse, couldn't find either of my twins at 11w2d. All we were able to detect was my heartbeat. You all are making me worry even more. Hopefully they're fine at my ultrasound on Wednesday. :-S
I bought the AngelSounds fetal Doppler before I saw any threads here about the Sonoline. I wish I'd waited (although the AS has good reviews), because it doesn't calculate heart rate on the screen, and you also have to use earphones (we use earbuds). The heart rate is so fast my husband and I haven't been able to accurately measure it.
On the plus side, I think I spent $25 bucks and got free shipping with Prime.
I want a doppler so bud but my boyfriend doesn't think its a good idea. He made me almost pee myself one day when i told him i wanted it to keep up with the baby and make sure everything was ok and he said "most pregnant women don't worry about that or want to check up on the baby so much" i almost died of laughter right there. but none the less i am 10w 2d and i want to hear the babies heart beat as i have had one miscarriage and was told i couldt have kids so i would be put at major was to hear it right now.
I finally heard mine too yesterday at 8w5days. I was completely determined to find it...it was only there for a few seconds but I heard it. Found it again today a tiny bit quicker. If you are worrying and can't find it....remember these are EARLY stories. I've used a doppler with 2 other pregnancies and even for this one I watched several youtube videos as a refresher. Once you hear that "wind tunnel" sound ...that's the placenta area. It is usually very close to that.
I found mine this morning at 8w4d! In past pregnancies I couldn't find it until after 10wks and was prepared to be disappointed, but I found it within 30 seconds. Baby must be hanging out up front
I am 8w1d and my sister-in-law and I used her Doppler for the heck of it tonight, we heard a heartbeat down in my pelvic region but she warned me it might actually be my own I am hearing, does anyone know if that's possible or if I should assume it's the babies? I could hear the "wind tunnel" sound at the same time.. I haven't had an US yet so this would be the first time I have heard it

Yours would sound like "boom boom boom boom", the babies is more like a galloping sound.

And your heart rate you can measure on your wrist or at your neck...check it if it's the same then it's yours usually your babies should be around 150 and yours would be 60-100 so you will definitely notice a difference!

I'm sure they are fine mama. It took me a solid 10 minutes before I found it, so I assume most people would have given up before then. Also, if your placenta is in the front it will be a while longer before you will find baby hb with doppler.
I have sonoline b. Think I bought it on eBay! Works very well. I'm sure I would have been able to hear it sooner if I had more patience...took forever to find. Wish baby's hb was as easy to find as my own and the placenta!
Ah I am so happy to report that I've finally found baby's heartbeat on my doppler as well!!! I am 10w5d. I thought I found it the first time, but after reading about it, it looked like I just found my own heartbeat I have tried one other time with no success. I was starting to feel bummed, although not too worried as I hear it's common. I finally heard it today! I know because it was really fast and continued to rise but I got too excited and got up to show my husband and then I couldn't find it again. But still happy!!!

Yay! Congrats mama! Such a good feeling to hear that sweet heart beating. I wish we could post video - I would share mine

Thanks. We tried for about 20 minutes because she was determined to convince me they were fine. So much for that. But she said she was having a hard time even finding my uterus, so it may not have moved up from behind my pelvic bone far enough to hear the babies. Hoping to hear them soon. I won't be getting a home doppler because I'm sure I would drive myself crazy with it
I'm 10w 2d and I still can't find mine with my sonoline b. I herw mine very loudly!. The screen went up into the 140s but I still believe it's just mine since it isn't really fast enough I don't feel like. Hopefully I'll get to hear it soon. I'm getting a so anxious bc my ultrasound tech didn't let me hear the babies hb during my ultrasound on Friday.. She didn't even tell me what the heart rate was! I don't go back to the dr until the 31st so I won't know anything until then
Your hb will sound like a swoosh, the baby sounds like galloping. They are totally different sounds. Also, don't try if you are gassy - too much interference lol.
This is my third baby so my uterus is up higher already. In my first pregnancy I didn't find hb with Doppler until 11-12 weeks.
Thanks for all the tips! It was definitely mine, I can hear a "woosh" sound also, not sure what that is.. I guess I will just have to be patient until my US appointment on Thursday
Sometimes it pickes up a few different sounds (your pulse, placenta, gas, etc) to make the number on the screen look high. You will know when it is your baby. Steady galloping/beating sound.
For all those having issues finding it: There are a lot of factors. I've had a doppler since week 9/10 as it's a surprise gift for the hubby. Week 10 and 11 it was super hard finding that heart beat. Admittingly I started this pregnancy a wee bit over weight and that affects finding anything. I went for my US for the IPS and got the tech to tell me loosely where the baby is sitting. I've been using that as a focus point for finding her/him again. Right now little-me is sitting just to the lower right of my belly button and if I angle the Fetal doppler towards it from the lower end of my uterus, I can get a fairly good heart beat within a few moments. However I am now just at week 12/13 (no dating scan yet so if'y on which week) and it was taken almost a month and knowing exactly where he/she is in order to make this at all easy.
Use a fairly good amount of jelly (doesn't need to be tons though!), move slowly, learn the sounds it makes. Then hunt for the telltale sound of the baby's heart beat, it might only be for a few moments. It was super hard keeping it for longer till this week! Keep your patience and you'll hear it soon enough!
Remember there's a reason why some doctor's don't like us having these things, it's easy to worry over nothing Also please remember, most models also recommend not even attempting to use them till 12 weeks for this same reason.
