2nd and 3rd time moms

Did your boobs grow or change with your second pregnancy?
By this time with my DD I was up a cup size. I haven't had any changes yet and no tenderness either- which I'm excited about.
I BF'ed for 2.5 years and just stopped last summer. I'm hoping the girls don't grow too much more- they're still out of control from before!

Re: 2nd and 3rd time moms

  • Same for me. This is my second pregnancy and boobs haven't changed at all. With my first I was already up a cup size by now.

  • That is great! Thank you. It's a nice feeling knowing they won't get too out of control ;)

That's how I felt Bliss! I'm happy I gave myself a 9 month break from BF'ing before getting pregnant again. I'm looking forward to. A new nursling too ;)

Also can I say it's nice to have a few veteran moms to cut down on all the "is it safe?!" posts. I may need to take a break til the 2nd tri so safe my sanity! I loved the bump last time though and I'm still close with a lot of my January 12 moms from here last time. We've just all moved to Facebook.
  • We just stopped BFing in January at 17 months. When I was pregnant with DD my boobs grew a cup size. I was already a DD to start. They were soo incredibly painful for all of first tri and it seemed off and on the rest of the time. Once my milk came in I wore a 36G. In the weeks before getting pregnant this time I excitedly made the statement to DH that I thought I needed new bras a cup size smaller. I guess it's a good thing I hadn't gotten around to it because while they're not the slightest bit tender they have swollen back up and my G cups fit perfectly. Really really hoping that I don't go up another cup size when my milk comes back,!

  • I fear that too @Laurakat81! I just bought new bras in January and I'm at 42G. I can't go any bigger than that!!
  • I just finished BFing my 2nd in November and bought REAL bras.  At least I'll have a few months of getting to wear underwire bras before its back to nursing bras.

@Ponto31 and @Laurakat81  Me too!  I was just fitted for a size 42F.  I don't think I can handle much more.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling that way @Mshrader05! We need our own group ;)
  • Yes!! I didn't even post like that when I was a first time mom!
  • @Pontot31 and @Mshrader05 I am with you! I didn't post much my first time around and seem to be more this time. It's nice, but I have only been reading positive threads as well. :)
  • I agree with all of you! This is my third...I had lots of questions the first time through but tried to do a little research to cut down on the repetition... Glad to be here though! :)

  • My boobs went crazy immediately with my first pregnancy. With #2 I didn't have any breast changes until the last month. This is #3 and no breast changes yet.

I've not had much Breast change wise. They're super tender, but no real increase. They maybe hit a C last time and I never really had milk come in, so we'll see this time
  • Good thread! I was just telling DH this morning that I've had no breast tenderness like I did the first time around.
I did go up a band size while preg and then a cup size while BFing. Honestly, I loved all the volume so looking forward to that again.

Also, hope you second and third timers stick around on the board -- for my sanity :)

  • I'm still nursing my first(18 mos), and praying I don't get the huuuge boobs I got with him. Seriously I jumped like 4 sizes. [-O< You all give me hope! My back can't take it again!
  • Do you plan on tandem nursing @juleyaspen? I have friends who did and always thought that would be cool.
My daughter weaned just before 2 and a half. She still puts her hand on my chest for comfort, though. I hope to have another great nursing relationship like she and I did.
  • Yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I pretty much weaned dd, and got pregnant the next week! I figure eventually I'll see what my real boobs are like now...

If he just struggles too much giving it up I will..I'm really hoping not to though! He will be 2 yrs 2 mos when I'm due(Nov 15th), so hopefully(*fingers crossed*) we find a way to wean before then. I did this to myself! I have let him nurse to sleep since he was born, so I know that's going to make this 100x worse!

That's so sweet she still finds comfort from that! Good luck to you with your bf'ing this time around!
  • @juleyaspen You're definitely not alone. I too have dug a deep hole with DD2. She has been resistant to sleep since she was born and now at 18 mos refuses to wean or sleep alone. Hopefully it will work itself out when we move in a few months and she has her own room. I'm not really on board with tandem nursing. Newborns (mine at least,) are extra needy and always hungry, so I'd rather save the liquid gold for the helpless infant as opposed to making him/her share with a greedy toddler who eats everything in sight AND wants to nurse.

Also, I'm totally down with a veteran mom thread! DD1 is 8, so I've been at this for a while. ☺
  • I feel you both @juleyaspen and @kateliznelsen!
My DD still sleeps in our bed. I nursed her to sleep until just under 2 years old, as well. She was always a huge sleep fighter and it's just easier to get sleep with her near us.
Then just before 2 I started unlatching her as her eyes got heavy. I think she cried the first couple nights and with in a week was just holding my hand and going to sleep. She still likes to have contact as she falls asleep- which is fine with me. I can usually get up with in 10 minutes of laying down with her because she's already out.
Then I started making nursing sessions at bed time shorter and shorter until they were about a minute. The last time we nursed I held her and talked to her about how the boobies had to go away soon. I may have cried too. She again cried her first couple nights? For maybe 3-4 minutes and then pretty much stopped asking. It was a very slow and peaceful ending. I'm convinced she would have nursed until 6 years old or longer if I had let her. I was just ready to be done and I knew I had given her 2.5 years of something petty amazing so I felt good ending it.
  • With first I ended up an F ... I'm not even out of my first tri and my old nursing bras are fitting again. Dear sweet baby Jesus :-t

  • At least there's hope for me. I'm just afraid that my "sweet" little DD2 will continue to resist weaning. Normally if I cut her off before she's decided that she's done, I get a headbutt, scratch, pinch or kick. She's a real doll, for sure! LOL (Daddy's temper, grr.) I'm over it. I didn't have these problems before, so I'm a little lost. Argh.
  • Hey everyone I love the idea of a 2 or 3 time mom group. Also I was wondering if any of you are showing yet. I know with my first it was about 5 months and with my second at 5 months i looked like I was 8! And now with my 3rd I feel like I'm already growing out of my pants! People are going to think it's twins I'm sure. (it's not)

Not showing here but definitely interested to see what my body does.

I'm slightly worried about the diastis recti, my abs are still pretty split from the last pregnancy 2.5 years ago. 2 fingers at minimum so I'm a bit worried what'll happen this time.
  • Ok so my boobs haven't gotten bigger but they feel heavier. With 1 and 2 they grew outta control but this time around so far just the heaviness. I only notice it when I don't have a bra on I am sad to say I actually thought about wearing a sports bra to shower in today so I wouldn't have to feel the heaviness just hanging there lol
  • My boobs were out of control with my first. The are sore now but nowhere near as bad as they were the first time. God help me if they get any bigger. Actually, God help anyone who lays eyes on me as well!

I did this with my first. I had to hold them up or the pain was unbearable. Not this time thankfully but I am definitely going to get some sports bras just in case.

  • @Pontot31 @kateliznelsen I'm glad I'm not the only one! I have a new problem now too..when he wakes up at 6 am and wants to nurse it makes me so sick..I'm definitely going to have to at least wean him of his morning feeds now. Can't handle it. How do you all do it?! I have no idea how I will take care of him on the mornings when I feel so sick and am throwing up!
  • Fortunately, I have never had any morning sickness. I was insanely tired with the first, somewhat tired with the 2nd and not at all now. I wish I had some answers for you @juleyaspen. I hope the nausea subsides soon, or you can get help from friends and/or family.

Glad to see all the veteran moms, too! This is my third. I'm on the other side of the breast issue. I'm a small gal and my 2nd nursed the life out of them. Looking forward to pregnancy perking these babies up! They may be slightly fuller so far, but my A cups still fit...

  • This is my second and mine haven't changed much at all. I'm still breastfeeding my almost 19 month old. I just have an increased hunger, but that's it.

  • @BonnieHall I was 5ft4in and 110 lbs when I got pregnant with my first and was showing to where my family noticed at around 12 weeks. I ran marathons and got back in shape after I had her and 17 months later my son was born. With him I already had a bump (small, but definitely there) at 8/9 weeks. With #3 I'm 8 weeks and have definitely seen a big difference from 5 weeks ago when I found out. So it has been a little sooner each time for me! But this pregnancy has overall been much different then my others!

I actually feel the opposite. My boobs barely changed my first pregnancy, I didn't notice any difference until my milk came in after delivery. This time around I can't stop thinking about how much they hurt and I'm already up a cup size. Then again I was always a itty bitty titty committee girl, so I don't have the same issue with them growing a bit.
