so I had to deliver by emergency c section last Saturday, at 33 weeks 1 day due to preeclampsia. Had some complications from too much fluid in IV and the magnesium sulfate they put you on. Was basically in a fog for several days. So never posted. but babies are doing well in the NICU. Both were breathing room air from birth. Hoping they will be home in a few more weeks. I'm still dealing with bad swelling in legs and carpal tunnel in hands but other than that doing very well considering everything.
Congrats. Hoping you feel better before the babies come home.

Emilia is my husband's sisters name. She still lives in Portugal (where hubby is from) and we thought the name was beautiful but also thought it was a nice way to Connect them to family members that they may not get to see very often.
They are so beautiful! I'm so excited to be seeing outside babies. It will be so nice to go home! I hope you are healing well. What were the birth weights?

Congratulations! ! So happy everyone is doing well. Were you suffering for a while with preeclampsia or high blood pressure or did it come on suddenly? I am almost 33 wks with twins.
@mhilpisch10 Luke was 5.2 lbs and Ashley was 4.7. Luckily they were on the road to being big babies!
@hchellebelle my blood pressure had been a little high since 19 weeks but no other issues. At 32 it was a bit higher but again no protein in urine etc. At 32 & 5 days I went in for normal exam and BP was 200/110 or something close to that. They sent me to hospital and they ran tests and put me on BP meds. Again no protein in urine or other issues. So they sent me home to take it very easy but first gave me steroid shots just in case. That Saturday they had me come back for non stress test on babies and blood work. Basically they were going to monitor blood/urine every few days from that point on as a precaution. Well still no urine in blood but liver enzymes were elevated. Doctor said it was sign my liver was not functioning properly and other organs would follow. I know I should have been expecting it but honestly all along they felt my BP was due to undiagnosed issues prior to pregnancy and high BP runs in my family so sounded about right to me. I was not expecting at all to have an emergency c section. Scariest thing but thankfully it all worked out.
Making it to 33 weeks is great because lungs are almost developed. If you have any issues before 34 weeks see if they will do steroid shots because they will help babies lungs finish developing. We are so lucky our two came into the world able to breath room Air. Makes their stay in NICU much easier and hopefully shorter!
Congrats on your two beautiful babies! I've had similar blood pressure issues here lately too and they put me on bedrest. I'm almost 33 weeks with twins. I went for non stress test Friday and blood pressure was normal and no protein in urine. I go back today to a specialist, to my obgyn tomorrow, and hospital for weekly non stress test Friday. My twins are on the smaller end, so we are hoping they stay in a few more weeks!
But I hope your babies NICU stay is short and you can bring your beautiful little ones home soon
@Ndracer...All good to hear. I am glad they were monitoring it so closely for you. It could have been do much worse if they weren't. I thankfully have had low BP the entire pregnancy but preeclampsia is always a possibility with twins. Gotta take it one day at a time. Hope your little ones can come home soon:)
