omigosh! why on earth would you risk getting a tattoo while pregnant?
I didn't know it was bad! My first appointment itsn't for two more weeks!
Didn't you say in another post that you have done research on vaccines for after your child is born, however...you don't know what NOT to do before going to the doctor? I am sorry if this one someone else that said this.
1st pregnancy: m/c began 1/12/09 d&c 1/13/09 8wks. Baby stopped growing at about 6wks.
Anyone have ang GOOD advice for her??? Your all full of negative crap. Not nice and not helping. Not everyone is a pregnancy expert.
I've literally only been on this site not even 24 hrs and this is one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen... and I'm not talking about the girl getting the tattoo - i'm talking about the responses she's getting from all of the know-it-alls calling her names and telling her she's a moron.
How about letting her know in a NICE way that getting a tattoo is not a wise decision at this point in her life, and giving her valid reasons as to why, as opposed to jumping all over her, calling her names and being just plain obnoxious?
If she did the post to try and rile up a few people, she sure succeeded! But if she did the post as an innocent gesture to show off what she happens to be proud of, well then maybe all of you who claim to be all the wiser should act that way instead of like a bunch of catty, snobby brats.
i would suggest consulting your OB immediately. you might need to watch out for infection.?

You don't have to be a "pregnancy expert" you just need to have common sense. Who doesn't start reading up on pregnancy as soon as you find out you are pregnant?

she has an even GREATER chance of hepatitis because no RESPONSIBLE and REPUTABLE tattoo shop would ever tattoo a pregnant woman. They always make you fill out a form of consent and they ask you questions like that as well as allergies.
and depending on how your skin reacts to the tattoos, you don't HAVE to be bright red or pink after gettting it done. certain tattoos i didn't

No, not everyone. Just us. Oh, and I have this thing called google and it just so happens I knew before I got pregnant that I shouldn't get a tattoo while I am pregnant.
And, if it isn't MUD (which, good point ladies about the lack of red or swelling), she wouldn't be showing when she went to the tattoo parlor. But, if the artist did know she was pregnant and did it anyway, it would speak to their reputability.

Wow... I was hesitant to even sign up to use this site even though a good friend of mine swears by it. Babygaga? Thebump? its all the same crap really.
What's the deal with all the snippy remarks anyway?
Seriously? Honey, an advice nurse will do. Don't go to the ER and waste your time. This is not an emergency. Wait till tomorrow morning and don't freak out.
While I think it's probably mud - my new tat (pic in blog from the day before Thanksgiving) didn't look red at all. My others did, but my wrist tat did not.
But yeah, any reputable place following health department guidelines will make you sign a consent form that states you are not pregnant or breastfeeding and your artist will go over it with you to ensure you understand what you are signing.
What advice can be given after the fact? This was a stupid decision that common sense will tell you is stupid.

If she had come on here and asked if this was an appropriate time for her to get a tatoo then the responses would have been different.
But she didn't. Instead she just decided to go through with it (provided its real because I too think its fake) without doing the necessary research. The minute you find out about your pregnancy, you become responsible for your baby. She didn't use her common sense, she didn't do research, and therefore was not that bright.
I have zero tolerance for people who plead ignorance after finding out they're pregnant. We have 1st triers that are so deligent with their research, they ask about lunch meat. And this chick goes and gets a tattoo. Not smart at all.

Ok... Now I am freaking out! What should I do? Should I call my doctor?!
This is common sense... and the tattoo parlor should have asked. You don't have to be a pregnancy expert to know Tattoos + Pregnancy = BAD!!!

Baby #3: due July 10, 2014
Aaaand... someone read my post.
No you should call the tattoo parlor.....
Umm yes, calling the doctor would be the RESPONSIBLE thing to do.
Yes, give them a call. And then step away from this thread.
Good luck - I hope you and the little one are OK. Plenty of people get tattoos every day without getting Hep. You're probably OK!!!!!
