Those that are having gender reveal parties, just wondering what yall are doing? Decorations, games, food, and how to do the big announcement? Looking for some original ideas, particularly for the big reveal.
We are doing a gender reveal in 2wks super excited may I add. For the reveal we a having a cake done with the sponge the colour of the sex & the top saying what will it be boy or girl.. As for games I'm getting a couple of bottles and filling them with skittles and getting people to guess how many in the bottle closet will get the bottle of skittles. I'm also doing a "what am" that's where I get paper write things on like nappy, bottle, wipes etc they then have to describe what it is without says the word..
My friend really wants me to do a gender reveal but I have no clue how I'm going to do it yet. I did see a fun idea with silly string. You buy pink or blue silly string but wrap the bottle in paper so guests can't see which it is. At some point you and hubby spray each other/others with the string.
@Sweetpea192 love the what am I game! Haven't heard of that one. I'll put that on my list. @amberulrich I saw that silly string idea! Cute! Here are some ideas we have if anybody wants these (most of these I got from somewhere else so I'm not claiming to be original!): list of old wives tales and what they say about our gender, HErSHEy bars where u use marker to color he or she or both, guests wear pink or blue, pink and blue cotton candy, pink and blue sno cones, have a voting board, buy Easter candy since it comes in pink and blue, cake or cupcakes, clothespin game where everyone gets a clothespin at the beginning and if u catch someone saying baby (or whatever words you choose) you get to steal their clothespin. Most clothespins at the end wins, if we want certain traits to come from me or hubby. We are planning on having ours in our backyard and we will have horseshoes and ladder all set up. We are doing a fish fry. My husband is a big fisherman so this is an easy, cheap way to do it. We just want a fun, laid back afternoon with our families and close friends. Now, what to do for the big reveal???? Since we will be outside we thought about opening a big box of blue or pink balloons, but that's be done! We want something original, but can't come up with anything.
I am hoping to do one. I love the ideas that you ladies have shared. My husband, mother, and I will know what the baby is but the other will not. I am hoping to have it outside so also a laid back afternoon with close friends and family. I love the old wives tales. I've also seen people serve the food that the mom was craving, which could make a really awesome ice cream bar of our party. We are also talking about a box of ballons or a cake. I would like something more original but I think the ballons outside would be really pretty and since I know I could always make the cupcakes or whatever ahead of time and just have the extra. I hope that people post pictures from their parties!!
A friend of mine had a board and painted on it was "It's a ....." and then they had black bottles (kind of like ketchup or mustard bottles) filled with paint (pink or blue). When they squirted the paint on the board, that's how it was revealed to them that they were having a boy. The point of the black bottles is obviously so you can't see what color of paint is in them. First time I had ever seen that one done so I thought I was cute.
I love gender reveal parties! We want to fill a black balloon with either pink or blue. We will then tack that balloon on a board with 20 other balloons. My husband and and will then throw darts at the balloons until we pop the one with the paint revealing the gender. We hope to not pop the paint balloon right away so we can build the suspense.

@coreyandsarahsharp We're doing a "reverse gender reveal" since we found out the sex already and chose to keep it a secret from the family We're having a backyard BBQ, no gifts ("Your presence is our present" on the invites) and will give out approximately 15, 12 inch helium inflated black balloons filled with (PURPLE) confetti/glitter. At the countdown, everyone involved will get to pop the balloons at the same time... we're mainly excited for the photographer to catch my parents reaction! They have 3 grandsons (brother's kids) and this is the family's first little girl since me!
We threw one for my best friend a couple of months ago. We did it in a private room of a restaurant so food was supplied there. I made a cake, it was 4 layers and the middle two had the center cut out and colored candies inside. On top in fondant it said "we're here for the sex" (everyone loved that) as far as games we didn't do too many crazy things. We had a plate signing and everyone signed in either blue or pink sharpie depending on their guess. We also did bead wearing, everyone wore a beaded necklace (either blue or pink, depending on their guess) then we did the giant baby bottle filled with blue and pink candies. Everyone guessed how many were in it and the closest guess without going over won the bottle of candies. Her dad lives on the other side of the country so he got to find out at the same time as everyone else via Skype. I'll say doing it at a restaurant also added to the fun as a lot of the wait staff made guesses and there were 6 or 7 waiters/waitresses peeking through a window when they were cutting the cake.
I think we are getting krispy kreme donuts with pink or blue in the middle. With ds 2 we handed out Hershey bars with a wrapper that said he or she open to see and had the HE part colored in blue. WE did not find out with ds 1.
We're doing the balloon release because it creates such striking photos! We're also having blue and pink drinks in glass dispensers next to eachother, and making mustache/lip accessories for people to wear in photos. We thought about a photobooth but it makes me nervous having my baby out of my hands! My camera that is.. Lol. We're cooking up a ton of grilled chicken or something and then asking everyone else to bring a small dish. We're having a gourmet burger bar for the baby shower so we didn't want to overdo it for this and it's just best friends and family. We're doing pink and blue topped cupcakes or cake pops. We thought about making the inside the surprise but then what if someone grabs one early? We're also making a tassel garland and having a super cute cotton candy stand
We are doing a cake on Mother's Day and finding out along with my husbands mom and grandma... They have no idea. They will just think it's a regular cake, little do they know that after dinner we will be finding out what our little nugget is!
My husband and I just recently had our gender reveal party. My sister threw the whole thing so everything was a surprise for us, down to what the reveal was. She had everything blue and pink at the party and we did finger foods like nacho's, etc., and had a Quarterback/Cheerleader theme going on. For the reveal my sister set up four clues leading up to the area where we would be doing the reveal. It led us to the back yard where a white canvas that said "Baby Bergeron is..." was hanging on the fence and we were both handed water balloons with either pink or blue paint in it, at the count of three we both threw the balloons at the canvas and out came blue! We were ecstatic and it was such a great way to do the reveal. We're going to hang up the canvas in the baby's nursery. (:
@coreyandsarahsharp Word of advice, if you do the whole Pinterest thing, check it out, even if you don't do it daily, you should still look around. They've got great ideas. I'm going to do silly string. Go to the dollar store, get blue and punk silly string. Wrap it, so they can't tell the color and when you're ready to reveal, take everyone outside and go crazy with the string. I'll also be doing a cake or cupcakes and it will be the color of the gender. There's so many more ideas I've got going on. All from Pinterest.
I'm not sure if we are doing a big party but we are doing a reveal for close family. We will find out on my husband's birthday so it's only fitting I let him shoot something! We are getting a reactive target and putting in a box filled with either pink or blue colored powered (like the powder you would get for a color run) and once he shoots the box it will explode with pink or blue dust. This is not our idea as we did see it on YouTube but it is very fitting for us. We wanted something different that had not been done much and once I showed him this there was no other option. I figured I get the shower he can have the reveal!
We're having a get together with my friends n some family... I got a little bunny with a pink bow n a pink pacifier that says daddy's little girl n we're putting it in a baby bag with neutral colors and confetti so when everybody is here I'm going to give it to my fiance n make him open it in from of everyone! So that's how I'm going to surprise my friends n my fiance
@ash102211 love that idea! My husband is a big fisherman and hunter. That would neat and very graphic for pictures!
I also like the balloons for pictures... I love pictures if you can't tell
@cksmommy LOVE the fireworks too! Have been searching online, but can't seem to find where I can buy them. They only sell to retailers. I don't know about where everyone else lives, but we can only get fireworks here when the stands set up around holidays. Anybody know where you can get blue and pink fireworks??
Hope everyone comes back and post pics from the parties they all sound great!!
We're big baseball fans (go Angels!) and our friends are throwing us a Team Pink v Team Blue gender reveal party! They are serving hot dogs, nachos, etc then we are having a softball game with all the kids. I will toss out the first pitch to my husband and when he hits the ball it will break open with either pink or blue chalk! Our party is in 4 weeks and we can't wait! This is such a fun, new tradition! I hope everyone has fun at their parties!!!
These are all great and fun ideas! I'm just too lazy to put forth the effort lol! I think we will just do a cake and have dinner for our families. Boring I know lol.
My post didn't complete. See pic above. Just some cheap stuff I grabbed at the dollar tree today. We have a huge family and are inviting 43 people. That's just our immediate family plus 3 close friends. I don't want to go crazy and spend a fortune. Pink and blue is our theme bc it's easy! Right now with Easter and spring there are lots of pink and blue things u can find.
I wanted something simple and since we are announcing it on Easter we are using plastic Easter eggs. All but one are filled with a combination of pink and blue M&Ms and one of the eggs will either be solid pink or solid blue. Everyone will pop their eggs open at the same time.
We're having close family and friends. No games, but we're doing dinner (my parents are insisting on having it catered so chicken, pasta, salad, ect) then since DH is a lottery ticket nutcase, we're going to have everyone do gender reveal scratch offs at the same time. I plan on having a table set up where people walk in that has an "old wives tale" board set up with my different cravings and then having some type of voting system (I saw something on pinerest where you get pink & blue bead necklaces for people to wear). I got almost all of my supplies from partycity.com (Little Man/Little Miss party).
We're announcing on Easter as well with a family easter egg hunt. We'll have one large "golden egg" that will have a pink or blue bunny in it. Whoever finds it will gather us all back together and reveal! I'm excited because my DH and I won't know either! As a bonus, whoever finds the golden egg gets a giant chocolate bunny too lol! As far as games we'll do the old wives tales and have them guess which one means what. And also have a vote for team blue or pink. Whoever votes correct gets something small like bag of candy or something. Just going to enjoy the easter holiday with close family and friends and bonus find out our grnder! Sooo excited I can't wait!
