I'm honestly having a hard time believing there's really going to be a storm coming through here! I mean, we're in a drought here and we never get bad storms. But hey the forecast is sticking to it and my company is taking it pretty seriously--we canceled a Christmas potluck lunch that was supposed to happen tomorrow and we've received several emails warning about the weather and telling us to work from home if driving conditions are unsafe. Guess we should go get a case of water and make sure our flashlights are in working order just in case...
I have a hard time believing that this is going to be the storm of the century they are making it out to be. Schools are closed in SF. DH is working from home tomorrow. Seems very dramatic but I'll take any excuse for him to WFH
I was here in the 90s for El Nino. So I doubt I'll be impressed.
Winds are a little crazy but rain not too much. My husband left to work a while ago and I told him to txt me when he got there but he hasn't yet and he should've gone in 20 minutes ago. I'm hoping he just forgot>.<
So it wasn't raining yet in my town when I left for work this morning and the roads were pretty bare so I had an easy commute. I'm guessing a lot of people stayed home today. It's raining in the city I work in, but definitely nothing out of the ordinary. I know it's supposed to get heavier later today, but I still feel like people made a much bigger deal out of this 'storm' than it's going to turn out to be.
@sideboth eek! yeah it sounds like the city and north bay are feeling the brunt of it. I can definitely hear the rain pouring outside where I work but H texted just a bit ago and said it's still not raining at home.
I'm a Southern California girl unfortunately living in Pennsylvania! H is from here and the cost of living is way cheaper. Headed back out to Santa Clarita on Saturday. I'm so excited, I miss my home state!
DH works in a building right next to Embarcadero BART station in Financial District and they had no power the whole day. He "worked" from home, but with me there, too (I was supposed to see patients in the Richmond and Oakland area and those places were flooded), we literally did not get dressed all day and snuggled with our kitties.
Downside, though, is that the wind took off a piece of our patio roof at 5 in the morning, so DH was out there on a ladder trying to see what he could do. We have an insurance adjuster coming by this week to see about the damage.
I don't know about ya'll but I thank God for the rain, we REALLY needed it!
Our first winter in our house, the roof was leaking into our bathroom! Then we put on a brand new roof, and it was drought drought drought. This fall we finally got around to installing our grey water system (laundry water piped to our backyard trees) and now the rain comes. Life is funny.
Damnit! I'm so late to finding this but I'm in LA too and I would LOVE a meetup with other mommies. My friends are super supportive- BUT I have no local mommy to be friends. Am I too late,

Anyone interested in a SoCal/LA area meet up as well? It's hard having NO pregnant friends...none of my friends even wants kids
You're telling me! The combo of moving here from OR, still being relatively young (23), and being a SAHM has made it very difficult to find/make friends
Since it looks like this ol' thread is being revived, anybody planning to go to the Baby and Toddler Expo in Sac? It's this Saturday and here's more info: https://www.sacbabyexpo.com/ I've never been to one of these but I heard you get a bunch of free stuff. I did enjoy the two bridal expos I went to way back when...
Re: California mommies?
