Can you ladies explain to me why every nursery image on Pinterest has a big, stuffed Giraffe in it?

I didn't know babies came with Giraffes.

Yes, because of Pinterest, I expect my giraffe to show up approximately 1 day after DD is born ;)
Hahaha I'm an interior designer and that is a VERY expensive $500 giraffe, I've had a few clients request it. I can't decide if I hate it or love it.

I hate all themes to be honest, Disney, sponge bob, Winnie the Pooh, nautical themes, pink and zebra, princess theme, I could go on and on and on, I also hate anything to do with farm or jungle animals, like that pervy looking little monkey.

I am defiantly an extreme but I'm such a visual person it makes me upset when someone buys a nursery from a bag when there are endless ideas and things you can do to create an original space and it doesn't have to cost a fortune, just a little creativity. I understand that some people don't care about how things look and are happy with anything- I am not one of those people

Totally agree! Custom crib bedding all the way!

Totally!!! or even companies like auggie have really cute little sheets and blahbla has nice bedding as well. There are so many nice places to get nursery stuff that isn't babies r us or target.

  • @Emilywooddesign exactly everything you said!!!! My mother is an awesome seamstress so we picked a few colors/fabrics and had her make the bedding and went with foxes.
  • It's mint green but hard to see in the pic ....
  • So cute! With both my boys room and this little girl, I've wanted to have something that they can grow into, not babyish. I'm a quilter, so I've been adding my own fabric accents. Loving Anna Marie Horner new fabric line.
  • We are doing our baby girls nursery in Owls and birds. The colors are a dark purple and turquoise. I liked that idea more than pink every where that some do. I'm not a pink fan and if I can keep from that color I will!
  • I really dislike any sort of theme to be honest. We're team green so the walls will be an aqua and we will use grey, and then if it's a girl there will be pops of coral. I just could never get into anything themed or with characters...even when I was younger I wasn't a fan of Disney princesses or Winnie the Pooh Etc. Guess I'm an exception!
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Agree with spongebob and Winnie the Pooh and anything Disney(not a fan of pink and purple together either) I'm a plain Jane with pops of color kind of gal!!! I hate theme nursery or clothes/shoes!!!
  • When I do get a chance to start the nursery, I'm gonna use white furniture (crib, dresser, glider) and khaki/beige walls. I love Peter Rabbit, so I've found Peter Rabbit fitted crib sheets, a mobile, a quilt to put on the glider, and a night light to fit that theme, but I really don't want to have any bunnies on the walls or any bunny quotes or sayings on the walls either. Trying to keep it from looking "schticky".
