Gender Emotions! So stuck on wanting a Boy. Anyone else?

I already have a 6 year old boy, and am really hoping for another one. I dont know if I am anti girl, or just scared I wont love her the same as the love I have for my son.Anyone else feel this way? I will find out the gender in 2 weeks!

Yes!! My first baby is a boy. He's so sweet and low maintenance . I just had to endure a week with my stepdaughter for spring break and she has me re-thinking wanting a girl. The emotions and attitudes omg lol... Needless to say now I'm wanting another little boy.

I have a SIL who was terrified of having a girl. All she knew were boys. Her littlest is a girl and she is constantly amazed at how much she LOVES being a mom to a girl. She had a lot of fears about it because of her past and finally realized that her daughter isn't her. Her girl is her own individual. She's freaking adorable and sassy and sweet.

I have three girls and two boys. Yes they have strong contrasts but at the end of day one sex isn't harder or easier to deal with: that's based on the individual, not their sex. It really bothers me when someone says "boys are harder..." or "girls are harder..."
It's not so black-and-white and generalizing hurts.

Your baby is your baby. You'll love them no matter what is between their legs!

Nope, not ashamed at all ;-) admittedly wanted a boy and found out we're having a girl haha. She's healthy, and we're happy, but we had to get used to the idea of raising a daughter. My dad also wanted a son, and ended up with 4 daughters! I never felt less loved because he said he wanted a son, that would be stupid. Nothing wrong with him or me wishing we could have a son. I still hope I get one someday!

They are soooo sweet amd low maintence! Im so attached to him, he definetly is a mommas boy. I really want another one. For some reason just fear I wont get attached to this new baby is its a girl. Also, with there being a six year gap between both kids, I fear my son wont.bond with the new child if it is a girl. Call me crazy, im just so worried

Awee. Do you have kids already? I cant speak about girls, but , I remeber 6 years ago being pregnant, prayingggg it was a girl, and when it was a boy, I was a little sad. I have to say, wow was I happy it was a boy.(now).My best friend has a girl (just turned 5) and shes so.different than my experience with a boy. Cried more, prissy, attitude, demanding... It scares me. Lol

I want a boy more than anything. I feel like kt is one..I've had a dozen dreams and they were all a boy..that has to mean something right? I know we'll be disappointed if its a girl and I know that sounds terrible.

Yep! That's me too. I swore I was having a little boy based on my 12 week nub shot...VERY boy nub according to lots of people. And when I went into an elective scan at 13 weeks 4 days it looked like a girl most of the time, but once in a while we'd suddenly see something between the legs that made the tech say it looked boy to her in some shots too. So no idea

I feel like it's a long shot if it's a boy, but you never know. I'm just having a hard time coping with it already since I really wanted my son to get his brother.

I honestly wanted a boy so bad (hubby too), but when doc told us it was a girl on Friday? I couldn't help but feel excited! It's just so real now, we're having a baby girl and she's perfect and healthy so far! You may feel a tiny bit disappointed, but I think you'll forget about it pretty fast! Congrats on baby.

We really want a boy too! I was worried about being disappointed if we found out we're having a girl and then yesterday I was out shopping with my SO's mom for his niece's Easter dresses and I was going nuts over all the cute girl stuff so....I think I'm going to fall head over heels in love either way lol

I have a 4-year old girl, hubby was SO disappointed at the sonogram when we found out girl, but now that all his friends are having their first kids, he's quite fond of telling them he hopes they have girls first, because he's never known a stronger love :'). That being said, this will be our last and I know he's still wanting his little mini me... I hope boy for his sake, but would be ecstatic to have another little princess. My little girl has actually been very low maintenance. As a baby, we knew if she cried, something was VERY wrong, because it happened so infrequently. My BIL and SIL have a boy and he's a huge drama queen - so it can go either way

I'm sorry, but I can't imagine not loving my child as much as my other one simply because of the gender. I feel lucky to have made it 16 weeks and so far, everything looks normal. Boy or girl, all I want is for it to be healthy!

This is just rubbing me the wrong way. Even just the title. I'm sure your not meaning any harm and I'm sure you can't help feeling how your feeling but as someone who is a loss mom, I find this hurtful. I think most of us can agree that boy or girl, we just want a healthy baby. Period. We'll love them regardless of gender. I honestly can't imagine loving my first born more than this baby I'm currently carrying if they end up being the opposite sex, or quite frankly, if they end up being of the same sex.

Trust me, it's ok to feel that way! Either way I'm sure when you hold your baby in your arms everything else you felt before will melt away! When I had my second son I desperately wanted him to be a girl and was so disappointed, until I held him in my arms for the first time! I was just so blessed to have a healthy baby! That being said I'm still praying that baby #3 is a girl! Although I've prepared myself that it could possibly be a boy, I honestly don't know how I will react! Sometimes my emotions get the best of me, and if they do I will get over it.

Yes, I'm totally fine now! I had a feeling it was a girl even though I really wanted a boy, so that made it easier to prepare. I wanted a girl eventually anyway, I just wanted a son first. Oh well, a baby girl will be just as fun!!!

I really don't think she was implying that she would love a daughter any less guys, she's just nervous about having a girl and that's pretty normal. I have plenty of relatives who have a son and a daughter and they admit that they have a different love for each of their kids (not more or less, just different). I have no experience with this as a FTM but I wanted a boy and had to make peace with the fact that I'm having a girl. Of course in the end all we want is a healthy baby, but some of us have different fears than others, no big deal.

Well if you do have a little girl she will have a big brother to protect her which I think is pretty awesome!
I understand how you're feeling.From stories I have read lol plans never go as planned,Isn't that what's fun about life though? The unknown can be scary but sometimes the greatest things are the least expected.Whether it be boy or girl you'll adjust,we all have to!

When I was pregnant with my first i was hell bent on wanting a girl. Had only girls names chosen and all that. Found out at 20 weeks it was a boy. I definitely had a private internal sook for the rest of my pregnancy lol we found a boys name we were both obsessed with and I decorated the nursery early. My son is absolutely hands down the love of my life! I think it was kore a fear of the un known! I'm a girly girl, boys were foreign land for me hahaha obvi your going to live your child either way @melCelebrano !! I can see where your coming from! And yeah girls can be high maintenance! I have three nieces and work in day care! I've seen some things hahaha

We have a 20 month old daughter and were really hoping for a boy. Found out it was a girl a it was definitely a lot to take in that first day. But I am excited now and am thinking of the upsides like the relationship she will have with my daughter. There are upsides either way but also don't get down on yourself for feeling dissapointment if it doesn't turn out the way you want. It is a perfectly normal feeling.

@melCelebrano everything you are feeling is completely normal. I have talked to so many moms (including my own!) that have felt this same way with every single one of their pregnancies. Worried about gender, not having enough love to spread around, having a high maintenance kid, etc...and the fears always turn out to be nothing, but they are still thoughts that go through your head and it's healthy to express them. I have a friend who just had her 4th baby and her first girl and she was terrified because she is FAR from being a girly girl. It's all working out though as it will with you too

I have a 6 yr old stepson who I adore. He has been my little man since he was 18 months. I desperately wanted a little girl but found out through early blood testing we are having a boy. I cried for 2 days knowing this will probably be the only baby I get to have as my husband only wants this one more baby. I am now starting to get excited and looking at boy stuff. I was certain I was having a girl! More than anything I am grateful the baby is healthy!!! God knows best!

Honestly, I have two boys and I really want a girl. I can't help that's the way I feel; I think it's a natural feeling for some women. Turns out we are having a girl, but I was afraid of gender disappointment too. I think no matter what, upon delivery day that baby will be loved!

I don't think you meant to offend anyone at all. I think it's perfectly normal to have a slight preference in gender over the other especially if you're afraid of certain things. I believe that no matter what you have you're going to love that baby no matter what, and there's no shame in being a little disappointed at first...that's just you being honest. Honestly, I can't hide the fact that I'm also nervous to potentially have a girl only because I really wanted my son to have a brother since they will be only 17 months apart...BUT I've seen boys be GREAT big brother's to their sister's and I know in my heart I will love my baby the same even if it comes out a SHE.

But we're all emotional right now and I think what you're feeling is completely normal.

@melCelebrano My daughter is 11 and my son is 5, that 6 year difference you were talking about. I can tell you the two of them have such an amazing bond. My daughter wanted no parts of him for the first few weeks but after she was able to help out with him more all that changed. Baby #3 is going to be another 6 year difference.
And im hoping for another GIRL! Gonna love baby just the same if i have a boy but I wanna buy all the girly girl clothes i keep seeing. Bows, ribbons, dresses, tutus, skirts!!! My oldest was Never a girly girl and still isn't.
