Full time EMT and massage therapist on my days off. Nausea hasn't been an issue but getting up to run calls the middle of the night hasn't been so much fun lately!

I'm a veterinary assistant. I just found out I was pregnant last week so I'm having a hard time remembering not to take xrays and be around the anesthesia as much as possible. No nausea yet.
  • Amazing how many of us are in education/nursing/other "helping" professions! I am a behavior analyst (BCBA) and I work with people with special needs- mostly kids and mostly with autism, but not exclusively. I work in schools and families' homes. I love it, though it can be really tiring and stressful, which is especially hard now. Kudos to everyone working to pull it together right now, be that at home or out in the field!
  • I've noticed moments of shortness of breath too. Going up steps... Walking long distances... Simple stuff I use to do before getting pregnant causes the sob. I was worried and went to the cardiologist and pulmologist and they both said it's due to the pregnacy and not to worry. So I just take it slower now. It's hard to explain why I am short of breath to people who don't know that I am pregnant though..... Been pretty creative lately lol.
  • I am a server at a sports bar and burger joint. MS has been killing me once again during pregnancy. I use sea bands, ginger gum and keep food with me every shift yet nothing seems to help. I am also one that gets sick with MS. I finally got a script from my Dr. to help with the nausea, I hope they do the trick!
  • I am a doctor. I feel bloated and nausea daily. My pants are already tight, which makes it worst. I hope these symptoms get better soon
  • Went back to school a second time (my first was business) to complete my degree in Electrical Engineering! Graduating in April.

Currently negotiating a position as a "software engineer" where I will mostly be in a control systems/robotics area.

Now all I need to do is get through Senior Design and I'll be all set...

Oh and nausea -- I stay away from strong smells and make sure to force myself to eat little things throughout the day. I keep a container of peanuts by the bed so if I have a late night or late morning, I can keep something in my stomach. It's worked out so far...though brushing your teeth after eating peanuts is kind of gross.
  • I'm not as great as you fine women I work at 7/11 part time do to money I can't finish school yet but me and my husband work as hard as we can. He is a security Guard and is in school thanks to Financial aid.
  • I'm a PSW , and in school for nursing , N & V around 7 weeks and still here at 10 weeks . Smells set me off which doesn't help in the area where I work
  • I am a tattoo artist. It has been extremely tough always being on my feet & having very many late nights. It's also hard to find time to eat or more like remember to eat (!!) so I get nauseous a lot. If I'm not nauseous, I'm completely bloated; I don't know which one I get irritated with more.
Whether you're a stay-at-home mom or you work full/part-time, congratulations, ladies!!
  • I'm a hairdresser :) it's awesome for now since I make my own schedule unfortunately I don't get paid maternity leave :/
I like peppermint tumms for when I'm feeling nauseous works so fast and I'm too afraid to take meds seeing as you never are 100% of the potential birth defects
  • I'm a sign language interpreter. Currently I am as a manager at a video relay service (VRS) provider. This basically means I manage a call center where sign language interpreters interpret phone calls between Deaf and hearing people. We see the Deaf person on our computer (imagine Skype/FaceTime) and then interpret between them and their mom/the bank/calling the dr/job interview/conference call...anything you can imagine someone might use the phone for...we interpret.

Although I do spend some time in the phones, I'm the manager there so have a different role than the other interpreted. Only three people at work know I'm pregnant yet. I've had lots of nausea for the past 3 weeks or so, plus haven't been sleeping well (crazy dreams plus running to the bathroom all night) and it's so hard to be very "rah rah!" and supportive of my team while hiding how crappy I feel. I'm sure many of you ladies know how I feel. Can't wait until they all know in a couple more weeks!

Very interesting to hear the wide variety of professions! :)

I'm a marriage and family therapist. The best part of my job is that I have a sofa in my office and can nap between clients. The worse part is needing to pee in the middle of a session and trying to hold it, and maybe my emotions. A few times I have felt my eyes fill with tears while a client was telling a sad story of something bad in their lives. I'm supposed to be the strong one, not the crying one! I think (or hope) I catch it before they notice.

I have to have a small snack between every client because I get super full on three or four bites, and then I'm famished an hour later and I'll feel like I have motion sickness if I get too hungry.

PS. 7 weeks, 3 days pregnant today. :)

Head of Operations at a Wealth Management company (Finance Industry). In talks at the moment with another company about a joint venture with all day meetings, no one knows I'm pregnant yet so it's hard to eat enough during the day to keep morning sickness at bay...
  • I am a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialist for an Engineering company. It's crazy Bc of all the posts I've seen only 1 other woman was part of the engineering field. But I guess that shows why I'm 1 of only 2 women that work in my office. Haha. I've got a flexible work schedule at my job which is awesome for being pregnant & my boss is 100% cool with anything I need to do through out my pregnancy. He's a wonderful man and im blessed to work for him. To all you ladies in the medical professional God Bless you! Much respect for what you do! Good luck ladies!
  • I'm a graphic designer.
  • Im a phlebotomist
  • I'm a Licensed Social Worker.  I work at a foster care and adoption agency.  Unfortunately, I have been getting burned out at my job for the last 6 months and it's very stressful which is not good for pregnancy.  I plan to tell my supervisor about my pregnancy in a few days and I will be almost 9 weeks.  Hopefully she can help me figure out a way to help me better manage.  I plan to mainly be a SAHM after the baby comes and will just be doing training for foster parents and staff throughout the year.
  • I'm a dog groomer. I just switched from full time to working 2 10 hour days, so the 5 days off is nice for the exhaustion but it makes those two days brutal. I come home, put the kids to bed and go to bed immediately after

I am an M&A lawyer and would not wish this profession on anyone! Just being honest....if there was an opportunity to start over, I would sell paintings in SoHo :)

  • I'm a copywriter for an online food manufacturer. I love writing but for long-term food storage and baking it becomes dry. I also hate staring at the computer monitor ALL DAY. I try to get up and walk around a little so that I don't go crazy at my desk. I can't wait for my leave :(

  • I'm an actress trying to hide this bump at auditions for as long as I can! Since being pregnant I've played a prostitute and a hooters girl on TV shows (the preggers boobs have helped!) Nausea just now going away at 14 w.
  • Financial analyst, I stare at excel documents all day. Boo!

Me too. It's hard to stay interested in work these days.

  • I'm an engineer, so I spend most of the day sitting at a desk. Nausea made me move the trashcan next to my chair. Knock on wood, I haven't had to use it yet.
  • I am a Personal Trainer and in the Air National Guard. So far I have only missed work once. Definitely struggling many days though. I can't wait for the second trimester to kick in and hopefully give me my energy back. I am not use to anything slowing me down and I feel like a mere mortal. Lol.
  • Another teacher here.

5th grade teacher to be specific and trying to finish up my masters. Sickness has gotten real bad starting at 13 weeks
  • I'm a clinical social worker for homeless military veterans.
  • I'm in finance (Manager of FP&A) for a legal services company. I long to be a stay at home mom again. I stayed home with my daughter for 4 years but now I'm the breadwinner in the family so I have to go back after baby is born and my SO is going to stay home with the baby for a while.
  • I was full time working in a factory making driveshafts when I found out I was pregnant. The hard work made me have a major back surgery the week after I found out I was pregnant. Now, I stay at home with my 4 1/2 year old :) Currently a full time paralegal student while the hubs works until I can find something easier on my back and my body .
  • I work full-time as a pharmacy technician and I work part-time as the billing specialist for a pest control company. The 60+ hour work weeks are exhausting but I have been lucky in that I haven't had any morning sickness.

Hope it's not too late to chime in here! I'm a freelance journalist in Austin, TX. The hubby and I moved out here last month because of a great job opportunity for him. Prior to the move I was working as a stringer for a newspaper in the SF Bay Area and covering state wide issues for Reuters. Now I'm trying to navigate this entirely new beat :)
Great to learn a bit about everyone.
  • I'm an office manager for an oral surgery office. I'm a licensed dental assistant but I took the position because I have s lot of administrative experience... Teeth and paperwork... Best of both worlds ;)
  • @lmazurek14 I'm a financial analyst, too. Normally I can handle up to 10 open spreadsheets 3000 lines deep each and find everything I need, these days I find myself just staring at one wondering why I opened it. I forget network names, mix up file concatenations, and try and compare the wrong agencies. Pregnancy brain is seriously messing up my flow. And I know sitting in an office makes a better day for sickness than the physical jobs but running across the office complex for the bathroom is killing me!
  • I'm a corporate recruiter for a large international company. I'm one of like 30 recruiters that helps to handle all of their North American positions. I'm usually staring at a computer screen and/or on the phone all day. My nausea isn't soo terrible lately. I've pretty much figured out getting too hungry triggers it and certain foods do too so I try not to get hungry and typically have small meals every couple of hours and I avoid the foods that make me sick.

  • I'm a full-time writer and marketing analyst. I have a degree in creative writing and have maintained a popular lifestyle blog since 2008 (when I was a sophomore in college). I love my job because it allows me to work from home as often as I need to. My bosses are a married couple with two small children and in meetings they say, "When it comes to our businesses versus our family, our family comes first every single time and we expect the same of you. If you don't put your family before your job, we are not sure we trust you to work here!" They are big into work-life balance and encourage people to take breaks. My (female) boss came into my office the other day and told me that I could definitely bring the baby to work if I needed to after it was born. I love my job so much. I cannot imagine working anywhere else now! I love dealing with words and numbers and researching all day. Definitely taps into my love of learning and solving problems. :)
