do you think its out there? I like names that are not heard 3-5 times in the same class but Im not sure if its too uncommon compared to my other kids names
Garrett Makenna (Kenna) Jordynn Madilynn (Madi)
It is different but I like different. Everett is a nice one that's kind if similar but more common. But you should do what you like. My friend has a son named Ziv, weird at first but now it's just him.
We are having our fourth boy and so far we are stuck on a name. Yes we have the ending in a "n" tend going on but it doesn't have to continue granted friends feel it should. If we know someone with a name we like I just can't use it so that limits our choices a lot.
DS#1 is Eyan Justin (EJ) (Eyan like Ian) DS#2 is Owen Alexander DS #3 is Gavin Xavier
Only ones on our list right now are: Nathaniel (Nathan or Nate for short) Gideon Declan
If you can think of names to flow with the big brother's I'm all open for suggestions. (our youngest son & the baby will be almost 7 years apart) Thank you
My husband and I are both teachers and coaches and it makes the baby naming decision a very difficult one. As wonderful as unique spelling is, it can be very frustrating to a kid. Also, many of the names we love we find ourselves connecting to students from the past or present. Our top two names (that we've loved forever) are names of kids I either teach or coach right now. Both wonderful kids, just not sure we want to have that connection right from the get-go.
@cperkins6251 I am a traditionalist, too, and am really relieved to see your post. I am kind of blown away by what people name their kids!
The "we don't care, we love it" attitude is something I suppose I admire in some ways, but... A larger part of me doesn't want my kid getting the side eye his/her whole life.

What are your older sons' names? Adrian is an -n name I like a lot. Evan, Ethan... I've got a lot of them but I'm having a girl so don't need them obviously
We have decided on Wolfgang, and affectionately refer to him as Wolfie. @NotISaidtheCat I can relate on the weird looks/animal name similarity haha. We, like you, also don't care, and love it We're having a tough time coming up with a middle name though, if anyone has any suggestions, send them my way!
We call ours Foxy As for middle names, how many syllables are your last name? I love helping pick names but the flow is so important! Hubby & I are also big on name meanings, which is partially why Orion won us over for a middle name. His name is literally "fox/dweller on the mountain" and we love it!
@murray1234 Abbott is a great name and it goes perfectly with your other kids' names (they even look good written out next to each other!). It's a name I've heard before but still unique and very individual.
We are finally having a girl and like the name Luna. My husband is chilean and we like to have names that are pronounced well in English and Spanish. Our two sons are Will and Sebastian... Both of their names were decided at the hospital so we will see if she looks like a Luna
@NotISaidtheCat Oh good, I could use some middle name help! Last name is three syllables, I was thinking something with two syllables would work well. I agree, flow is important, and the first and last name work well right now, which is why it has been so hard to find a middle name!
On the topic of untraditional/traditional names... I think it truly comes down to "to each their own". In the same way someone might find my son's name strange, I still cringe at the repetitiveness of some names... and this is coming from someone with a common name married to someone with a REALLY common name. Not hating, just saying we want something different for our son.
@sls2015 Aldan (wise) immediately stands out to me, Caldwell (from the cold stream) also has a strong pull, Ellard (noble and brave), Fulbright (very bright), Hallan (dweller at the rocks), Osric (God ruler), Radley (from the red field). Husband suggested Anselm (God helmet).
I personally have an extremely common and really plain first name...Sara. I've always hated having such a boring, milktoast name and it was super annoying having at least 2-4 other girls named Sarah in my classes going through school. Ugh. So yeah, unique names for the kidlets! Though I try not to go too far, either...because my middle name, which I've always gone by (but also never liked), is pretty weird and no one ever knew how to spell/pronounce it. If only I could have named myself
I'm a Sarah too and there were a ton in school as well. We are not doing unique a name but making sure she is not a top 10 name!
I feel yall! I'm an Amy. I started kindergarten with 5 Amy's in my class. Ha. You should see my HS graduation list.... Lots & lots of Amy's. Must have been super popular in 1976.
