Trouble sleeping

Is it possible to have trouble sleeping already at only 5 weeks? I toss and turn all night and just can't get a good nights sleep!

Re: Trouble sleeping

  • Totally normal. I'm in the same boat. Welcome to never getting a good nights sleep again ha ha. I don't think I've slept well since I was pregnant with my first, and after she was born it was game over. Bye bye sleep! It was nice knowing you ;)

  • Yesss, me too.  I've had no trouble getting to sleep, but staying asleep is a bygone memory.  =(

  • Same here. I'm 4W4D, got my BFP on 3/6, and have been waking up in the wee hours every night since the night before my BFP. Totally frustrating!
  • Yes my doctor told me to take Unisom when needed. And even with Unisom I still wake up very easily
  • Tossing and turning here too. I had trouble sleeping when I was pregnant with my daughter too, so I was expecting it.
  • Same here! Every night around 3, I'm getting up. Usually I'm having some mild cramps so I'm hoping once they subside, maybe- hopefully I'll get to sleeping better.....
  • Yeah I don't go to sleep till late at night and get up early it's crazy ..I make myself take naps tho
  • I've been tossing and turning all night like I can't find a comfortable position! My husband is getting so aggravated with me
  • Im the same! Wide awake every morning at 5am like clockwork and cant get back to sleep uhh
  • I have the same problem, but I've made the most of it by getting up and getting to the gym by 6am. Nice to get my workouts out of the way first thing.
  • Yes! I have have very vivid dreams an many night time wake ups since conception.. It has always been my earliest symptom. I had been so exhausted that I finally took a Benadryl last night and for the first time since pregnancy I slept like a baby!

  • I thought I was the only one, or that I was going crazy that this was a pregnancy symptom! I've been waking up around three a.m. every morning, and can't fall back asleep. Nice to know I'm not the only one. It seems strange that this is happening so early in the pregnancy, since I'm not uncomfortable or anything.

  • Same here. Last night I woke up several times and added baby names to a list in my phone lol. Came up with some good ones
  • My sleeping issue is my breast are extremely tender. Hurts to sleep on my belly and on my side, lying on my back has always been a hard sleeping position for me. May a big body pillow will help :(
  • I'm finding I'm sleeping a lot lighter since I became pregnant with some crazy dreams!! Have recently added hip and back ache at night to the mix too.
  • Me to. No sleep. I toss around all night. Night sweats sometimes, and bad dreams. I recently bought a relaxing sound machine to use at night. It seemed to really help me lastnight. Hoping it does the trick tonight. Get your sleep now ladies
  • Can't recommend enough a warm bath with some lavender milk in it to help you sleep. Had a 9 hour sleep last night for the first time in weeks. Heaven.
  • Yes! I'm struggling between extreme exhaustion and then total insomnia!!! I can't sleep past 430 am! I just lay in bed for hours

That is completely normal. I have always had trouble sleeping later on in pregnancy, but I do remember with my first that I had some trouble sleeping for a couple of weeks earlier on. This time I just can't keep my eyes open, I have so many shows piling up on dvr right now that I haven't been able to watch because I am just too tired and can't keep my eyes open.

eta: You're able to take Diphenhydramine (what's in tylenol pm) during pregnancy, so maybe try taking one or two of those and see if that helps you sleep any.

  • I'm in the same boat. I can fall asleep, but I start waking up around 1:30am. I can't get comfortable and I'm sleeping so lightly that any little noise wakes me up. Certainly doesn't help my already terrible exhaustion.
