What a beautiful baby girl! So glad everyone is doing well. Congratulations on your new addition. Please continue the updates and I hope you find that life fast forward button soon. T&P to your new family.
Almost 2 hours of skin to skin today!! Today is the day I've been waiting for from the Moment I had her. To feel her against my body. It's a feeling I can't describe. It will be a beautiful day when I have the ability to hold her like that as much and as long as I please

She didn't peep one time!! I was certain just as content as baby girl. I did not want to put her back in the incubator. Soon enough tho right happy thoughts!!!
Good news alert!!!!!!!! I'm in complete amazement. Yesterday when I was holding her she was only satting 88-94. The damn 88 was annoying me and I didn't understand why she kept dropping. It was short when it got there and would go back up but didn't understand it. Sooo Guess who is on room air babbbyyy!! Satting at 95%. So no more nasal cannula! I can't wait to see her face with no tubes (besides the tiny feeding tube in her moith) Tolerating feeds still with no aspirates. Very great news this morning
ThiIs is so wonderful to hear! What a little fighter you have. Do you know how long she will be in the NICU for?
Everything depends on her progress. There are certain stipulations she must meet as well. Must be 4 or more lbs, must be able to maintain her body temp on her own outside of the incubator. And a couple more I believe. Typically they like them to be as closely corrected to what should have been their gestational age of 40 weeks so she's 28 weeks so possibly 12 weeks of hospital stay. They was she is progressing I highly doubt she will be in that long. I'm praying formid to late April for her homecoming ;-)
UPDATE- 2 more hours of skin to skin today. I read her Sleeping beauty, and Bambi grows up :-) I don't get to be with her 24/7 so I really want her to leave my voice so I will be reading lots of books. Medically everything is the same as yesterday which is amazing. She's on tpn and lipids which is basically just nutrition. Getting 2cc every 3 hours of breast milk. Still on some caffeine to help with breathing and I believe that it!! Still maintaining her oxygen all on her own which is a blessing!!! She's so amazing!! So thankful for her!!
I just want to thank you so much for welcoming us into your moments with your baby girl. She is beautiful and perfect and is doing great! Thank you again and keep the updates coming.
Also, are you staying at the hospital 24/7? Are you and your family/friends taking shifts? I have no knowledge of what you are going through but may (hopefully not) have to experience this first hand....
Aww is she gaining weight? It sure looks like her little legs are getting chunky. She is beautiful. I'm so excited that she is doing so well! She is one very strong little girl. I think she will be home in no time at this rate !!

You're most welcome I enjoy sharing my happiness!! I am not staying there 24/7 that would be amazing. I get 5-7 hours a day up there. I call when I wake up, I'm there mid day for hours And I call before I go to sleep. I have an amazing supprt system. People practically texting me daily asking when they can take me there to meet the baby, since I can't drive just yet from the cesarean.
May I ask why you might go through this situation? I pray you don't!

Unfortunately she's not gaining yet. She's actually still in the losing stage. She was born 2 lbs 11 oz and is now 2lb 4 oz. Even full term babies lose weight at first. So just need to get past this stage and hopefully start packing on the pounds. It's normal for her to lose a bit More since she's premie. I really believe she will be home sooner than later. That will be a beautiful day!!
Thank you for your response. I am 26 weeks. I was first diagnosed with a dynamic cervix and now a short cervix. It has maintained at a cervical length of 1.8. I am taking progesterone suppositories every night to make sure I don't contract. Bay is wonderful and healthy but I am scared because all my doctors have told me that bed rest is a must and I could deliver very early. I'm also on steroid shots for babies lung development in case she comes early. A lot for me to take in. I have a three year old daughter at home and a previous loss at 16 weeks... so I have a little anxiety about the situation...
UPDATE : baby girl is up to 4cc feedings every 3 hours and is tolerating them completely. Yesterday she has her first weight gain :-) every day she was losing about an ounce, completely normal. Yesterday she gained an ounce. Baby steps right!!? She should continue to gain from here on out. She may have a few small losses but mainly just gaining!! We've been giving her a binky and she's suckling and trying to swallow which is tremendous!! Leaps and bounds this baby! She's progressing so well. So blessed with such a strong baby. Another great day of 2 sets of skin to skin for 2 hours. I never wanna let go!!
Thank you so much for keeping us updated, definitley tearing up as I read. Little Miss Clara Louise is beautiful and strong! So glad to hear she is doing so well. Praying she gets to come home with you and your DH soon!

I've been heavy bleeding on and off since 12 weeks. My worst was the day I turned 26 weeks. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks at had her at 28 weeks and she's thriving!!!! If anything girl squeeze out those last 2 weeks. It really does make all the difference. So bed rest for sure. I am so happy to hear baby is healthy. My sweetie wasn't effected by my bleeds THANK GOODNESS! And I pray yours will be healthy as can be. You're a strong momma that's for sure. While in the hospital I said that I don't know how I could have gone through that if I had a little one at home so stay strong momma. Very saddened by your loss. I had 2 very early mcs prior to baby girl but I couldn't imagine losing at 16 weeks. At this point I'm so full of info from my hospital stay if you had any questions that I may be able to help you through I'd be happy to help!! I'm always open to talk. This wasn't an easy thing to go through so I know it's nice to have someone to talk to who's been there!

No bleeding this pregnancy, but my second (my loss) I had three instances of bleeding... three gushes of blood incidents. My OBGYN experiance was a nightmare. We don't have to talk about that. I'm listening to my body this pregnancy and taking it one day at a time. Thank you for your updates. I look forward to them everyday :]
This is a little off subject...are connecting with other NICU moms? Some of my friends (I have lots of twin mom friends) have made the best friendships with other NICU moms. There is a connection there bc you are all going through the same thing and can relate/understand. They even have long standing relationships with the NICU nurses.

Agree, my mom's best friend has 5 year old twins who were born very early (I don't remember exactly how early, but I'm thinking probably around 28 weeks as well) and they still keep in touch with their NICU nurses!
So happy that everything is improving for you and baby Clara! Love reading your updates

I didn't wanna listen to my body during this pregnancy lol this pregnancy was a negative Nancy and we were not friend haha!! Atleast my Babygirl is here now and thriving. So the pregnancy did one good thing I suppose. I will continue to send happy thoughts your way for a healthy full term pregnancy :-) good luck!

Honestly no. I spend 5-9 hrs a day with Clara. There's been 3-4 ( it's a 6 baby nursery) other babies in there and the moms almost never come in :-( if they do its for all of 10 minutes.
The nurses on the other hand are a totally different story. The nicu nurses have been absolutely amazing. There's a handful that I just love. They are so involved and not just with Clara's care but with mine and the progress of my pumping. Getting me a pump before I left the hospital, constantly checking on how my supply is and if I'm keeping on track. They're most certainly holding me accountable and I like it.
I also had a nurse from l&d (sorry if I've already told this story I can't remember if I have or not) that was just amazing. She was the nurse who admitted me on feb 21st from the bleed and anytime she worked she would always make sure she was my nurse. She was my nurse the day clara was born. Such an amazing soul and advocate for her patients. So very thankful for them all. She actually stopped in the nicu before I got here yesterday and left us a present. She got us a diary to write in for Clara to read when she's older and a pocket angel token to carry for us. So so sweet of her to care so much!! Here's a pic of the gift.
