April 2015 Moms

Am I the only one with that gut feeling that I won't make it until my due date?

this is baby three for me, and this pregnancy is nearly back-to-back with my last one. (Right now, child 2 is 11m, so at my due date, they'll be 13m2d apart). This baby is bigger than the averages, and lately I've just had a feeling that I'm not going to make it until my due date. I was only 9 and 8 days early with the last two, but I'll be happy if I make it to April with this one (which would put me at 36w). Its hard to ignore your gut instincts, though. anyone else feel this way?

[My due date is April 29, so I made 33w today.]

Re: Am I the only one with that gut feeling that I won't make it until my due date?

  • I have somewhat of a gut feeling and hoping to go a little early. This is also #3 for me. DS was 2 weeks early and will be 17 months April 6th. Due date is April 30th, 33 weeks tomorrow. I've had a lot more pressure than I remember with the other two, almost eager to get to 35 weeks because I could swear I am dilated with all the pressure. Just going to make sure I have somewhat of a bag packed and a plan in place in case I go early.

  • I had a gut feeling that I would make it past my due date. My baby arrived six weeks early. Then again, you've been pregnant before and have a history of delivering early...
  • This is baby 2 for me and I am sure I won't go till my due date which is April 7th. I am already dialated some and my DS came 2 weeks early so I'm just expecting this one to also..if that's the case I will be having "he/she" this month!!:)
  • I have a feeling I won't make it.

I delivered with my son, 10 weeks early.

I'll be 36 weeks tomorrow. Really don't think I will make it much more. As of Sunday, I was 2cm and 60% effaced.
  • I had a feeling all along that I would go early but now that I am 36+4 I'm starting to get the feeling that she may never want to come out and will probably be late.
  • I honestly want to make it to 37 just so I can be like "hallelujah, I made it full term". But I already know I'm in a better position now since I have made it so far compared to with aiden.
  • No- I have a gut feeling I will go past my due date like I did with my last pregnancy.
I was hoping my doctor would let me go to 42 weeks before inducing but after our talk last week he said no more than 41 weeks- hope I go on my own before that!
  • Each one of mine comes earlier.

    1st 40w 4 d
    2nd 38w 6 d
    3rd  37w 2d

I am hoping this one goes pass due for selfish reasons. I want my maternity leave to go more into the summer. Though there really is nothing I can do to stop it. I hope to ge a little longer than my last, since she ended up in the NICU for two weeks.
  • In my mind I keep telling myself that little J will arrive before his due date but that is more wishful thinking. ;)
    Married: 3/01/08
    Baby Girl: 7/29/11
    Angel Baby: M/C 7/15/14 at 7wk
    BFP: 8/23/14 - Due 4/28/15  - It's a BOY!
  • I had the feeling I wouldn't make it to my due date. I was thinking i would be about 3 weeks early and deliver this weekend. Well, I was right about 1 thing because I delivered almost 7 weeks early on feb 21. Love having my little man here, but going full term wouldn't have been a bad thing because he probably wouldn't have been in the nicu.
  • My hospital bag has been packed for almost 2 months. I wouldn't be surprised if my water broke today, but I would LOVE to make it to my scheduled date- just so I know I would be showered and my kiddos would be all set. As of right now, I just want to make it to 36 (Saturday).
  • @guinevereis I feel the same way! Please just let me make it til tomorrow 36 weeks and then each day after is a blessing.

Tomorrow is my last p17 injection.
  • You are going to make it until tomorrow!! But definitely be ready to check that box as soon as you wake up ( or at midnight!). Yay for your last injection too!
  • Then we can cross our fingers for 37 weeks
  • I feel the same way but it's my first! I'm 36 weeks due April 6th and I'm already 1cm dilated and feeling a lot of tightness in my upper abdominals.. Maybe it's just a first time impatient thing ha
  • I am a FTM so I have no clue what all this is supposed to feel like, but I also wonder if I'm gonna make it. I'm 34 weeks Sunday. My mom is going on a cruise the last week of March, so part of it might be my paranoia that something is gonna happen while she's gone.
  • I'm in the same boat. My first will only be 1 year old at my due date.  At my growth ultrasound last week the doc said she's already about 7.5 pounds give or take.  I was a week early with my first, so I'd be shocked if I make it to my due date.  My due date is April 6th but my gut is telling me to be ready anytime after March 23rd.
  • I was three days late with my first, however this pregnancy is so different. My dr was on vacation this past week for my appt. but my dr and the one I saw told me "oh he is so low and can't get any lower". I have to agree due to the fact that I'm wearing an under wrapz support band to keep my belly from hitting my thighs and when I don't wear it it feels like my hips, pelvic bone etc is going to split in two. It's been a very high stress pregnancy so I'm just happy we made it to full term yesterday! He is more than welcome to come anytime after my court hearing next Wednesday- custody and child support (and a little early would be nice to make sure I'm home for my daughter for Easter).
  • I have a feeling, but i'm not sure if it's influenced by the fact that ealy-mid april would be far more convenient study wise than late april!

  • I thought for sure DD would be early the first time but she was a week late. I learned from her that they will come whenever they are ready. Pretty sure I have another 40+ weeker on my hands. He is Ridin' high!
  • With both my pregnancies I was convinced I would be early. They were big babies, I was walking around 1-2 cm dilated. DD1 was 14 days late, DD2 was 4 days late. Now with this LO, he is also big, and at 29 weeks I went into pre term labor, I still wouldn't call going into labor before my due date. I'd love to see this thread updated in April, to see who actually did deliver early.

I had the feeing and kinda hope I won't Go to 40+ as I'm so uncomfy I'm 37+1 been for a scan today his turned the right way head down now and midwife says he is 3/5 engaged so fingers crossed!!! x
  • I have a feeling I'll go early...I definitely feel differently the past few days (for the worse). Last week at my 36w appt I was 3cm dilated, 60% effaced and she had dropped significantly...we'll see where she's at when I go back tomorrow for my 37w appt! I would LOVE to have her a little early since I've been sick the whole pregnancy, but at the same time I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for a late baby so I'm not miserable for the next 3 weeks.
  • I delivered at 35weeks with my first, and 32 weeks with my second. Right now there is a betting pool in the family for when I'll deliver. I'm currently 34 +4, but I'm pretty sure I won't make it past 37. I'm taking my progesterone shots until 36 weeks, and when that's all over I think he's going to make a run for it.
  • I think it's more that people are saying they get the feeling they will come early?! Babies will come when they want to........I don't think anyone has mentioned forcing them to come earlier, just whether we have a feeling that they will make an appearance before DD........so no need for the "christs sake" comment!!

You said yourself that you HOPE your baby comes early because you are so uncomfortable. Boohoo! I'm sure mothers with premies would kill to still have an inside baby.

Who are you anyway? My comment was in no way Holier Than Thou. I hope for your baby's sake that he stays in for as long as possible.

  • I am 37 weeks and considered full term as of Sunday so any time from here on out I'd feel safe and happy if baby decided to make an appearance. I am so uncomfortable plus waiting to meet our LO is like waiting for Christmas on steroids haha. I was 2-3 cms and having BH contractions at 33 weeks so I would be surprised if we make it to our EDD or go over. Half our family is away this weekend so everyone is guessing it'll happen on Sunday lol.
  • 37 is actually early term
Full term is from 39 weeks to 40 6/7.
Although outcomes for a baby born at 37 are good- ability to feed well and brain development are still maturing.

The UK and USA definitions vary slightly, in the UK you are considered "full term" at 37 weeks.........USA changed its definitions in 2013 I think it was.....
  • As a previous preemie mom, I wish I could make it to 40 weeks but I don't see it happening. Yes, I'm miserable but it is worth it to keep my baby in there! I'm 36w today and had my appt. I'm 3 cm and 90% effaced so honestly it could happen any moment and I am scared to death! I would beg for a few more weeks but you never know.

I've made it 6 weeks longer so far than I did with my son. So that's a blessing!

I can't speak to UK's definitions- I keep forgetting that this is an international forum. Prior to 2013, ACOG defined 37 weeks as being term- never full term.

Brain development doesn't stop until early to mid twenties.

That's definitely how I meant it when I posted the question. I just felt an inexplicable feeling that the baby wouldn't wait until my due date.

I take absolutely no offence to your post, but many posters have stated how they wish or hope baby comes early because of discomfort. That pisses me off.

I had my last at 37w 2 d and she stopped breathing after delivery because she had not quite learned how to breathe just yet. She spent 2 weeks in the NICU with many episodes of apnea. Though this is not common at 37 w, some babies are still not fully developed at 37w.
