Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I hate when everyone feels the need to bum rush the bathroom at work when I'm in there trying to do my business. Grrr.
  • Loading the player...
  • I hate that too. Really I just hate using public bathrooms and I definitely don't want to talk to or be talked to by anyone while I'm doing my business and vice versa...bleh!

My random...my dog is still going crazy. smh yesterday he destroyed the bedroom and I have no idea why. He didn't chew up or break anything except the blinds and didn't go after the door that keeps him from the cat box. But my whole bedroom looked like it just exploded! He pulled every pillow and blanket off of the bed and upended and spread out a basket of dirty clothes. And knocked over the little stool that sits in front of my vanity. It's just insanity. AND we fed him yesterday morning, so the fat thing couldn't have been that hungry LOL

  • Snowing like a beast here! The base is closed. I am going to make a healthly version of creamy tomato tortellini soup and watch it snow!

Why are people obsessed with a pregnant woman's weight? A MALE coworker of mine asked me yesterday, "how much extra weight are are you carrying around at this point?" Now mind you I am almost 21 weeks preggers and unless I am in civilian clothes, nobody can tell I am pregnant. I smiled and said, "I don't want to talk about." People are lucky I am who I am, because I am pretty sure some Bumpies would flip with the things people say to me. Eight years in the military and I have finally developed emotional control! Lol!
  • I would straight up tell him to mind his own damn business! As far as I'm concerned, no one gets to ask you that question except your dr. No one needs to know or care. Your body, your business. ....Sorry, my inner former fat girl just got fired up a bit. lol
Not fair with the snow. It started out 65 degrees here this morning in GA and the temp is supposed to drop all day down to freezing tonight...and it sucks. LOL

  • Judgement free zone here. You should see my crib...epitome of DISASTER.. lol.
  • @GSUDavis do you think your dog is jealous you are going to have a baby? Dogs are super intuitive and maybe he/she knows what's up and coming? I have an older retired military working dog. He does destroy things, but when I lay on the floor to stretch he plops his 9 - pound butt right under my arm pit and puts his head on my belly. I love him for it
  • @Coastiegirl35 - No, I don't think that's the case. We were having issues with him eating things but the vet said it was because we cut back on his food for his diet and that he was just hungry. Now I think he's just bored. And when I asked the vet about me being pregnant, he said that the dog knows something is different but likely doesn't care that I'm changing. He will only care once the baby has arrived. And then he thinks that Loki will over mother the baby because he's such a kind and loving dog. =)

  • Tick-tock-tick-tock. It's 7am here in sunny California and my anatomy scan is at 4:15. It's gonna be a long day......
  • Today is a weird one. I didn't realize I ran out of cream until after I poured my coffee, and by that point, I just wanted the caffeine. Tonight I'm going to an award show my dad is a part of, which is over an hour away from where I live, it's going to run late, and I need to be in that area for an appointment tomorrow anyway, so I'm going to be spending the night at my parents' house. I have a great relationship with them and everything, but it's always weird sleeping in my childhood bedroom. Not to mention, I'm used to sleeping in a full bed - husband, 120lbs dog, and three cats. The only pets at my parents' house are fish and birds - not exactly snugglers.

  • @GSUDavis... what kind of food to you feed him? I ask because our dogs who are almost 3 now were being fed some popular generic brand like that all the grocery stores sell....I don't remember the name of it off hand, it's in a blue bag ... I keep wanting to say Pedigree but that isn't it...it might have been Purina, anyway, it has a lot of unnecessary additives like corn meal and shit like that in it, that can cause the dogs to not only be sick, but start misbehaving and tearing things up - which was the issue we were having - so after researching it, we decided to switch to a little more expensive brand that we have to get at like Tractor Supply or Petco and it's been amazing.  Its called Diamond Naturals Chicken and Rice...they love it and it's really changed the chemistry in their brains I think because it's helped with their tearing things up, it's helped their shedding and their coats to be a little shiner and they don't shit as much. It's nice because then they don't eat as much either, so they don't go through the food as quickly. So although it's a little more costly per bag, ($35/bag) it lasts almost twice as long. And all the reviews on it are really good. Maybe try switching foods to see if that helps?
  • Everything DH does gets on my nerves. I almost feel bad for him.. and then he does something stupid. Like, how hard is it to put the cereal back in the cupboard after eating?? And WHY is it so difficult to put the dirty dishes into the damn dishwasher?? Granted, somethings aren't his fault.. like his jokes and annoying pestering behavior which didn't bother me before.. but omg I could have slapped him this morning.

  • @GSUDavis - SAVE THE SNOOGLE!!!!!!!!!

He did work in there! Good Grief!!! I would have been so mad, lol!

akopitzke  Ahhh... that's no good... how are things with his bromance.... is he still talking about that guy constantly too? ;\ Maybe you guys should go out for a romantic date night or something?
  • @Handree - eyes off the clock! It'll only make time go slower! I'm jealous that it's sunny and your in Cali. In PA it's freaking cold, and snowy and I'm so sick of hoodies and boots. don't forget to let us know how it goes today!!!!
  • @ipumpkin he hasn't really mentioned his new friend recently. thank god. I was actually thinking about making plans for tomorrow night. My DS is gone to his dad's for the weekend so we actually get some alone time! And we haven't had a good date night in awhile.

  • I'm glad to hear the new friend obsession has chilled a little. You seemed pretty annoyed with it and I can totally understand why. My DH gets the same way sometimes, and his friends are his work buddies so that is ALL I hear about. Although his job is interesting, sometimes its just like, seriously stfu. Lol.

Maybe a date night is just what you guys need so you can reconnect and get back on the same pages! Good luck.

  • @GSUDavis have you tried filling a Kong toy with peanut butter, freezing it and leaving it out when you go to work? It might help with the boredom. It will take him forever to lick the peanut butter out of the Kong.
  • @ipunpkin - yea, he really went to town. BUT he didn't actually chew or destroy anything. Thank god. lol
And the vet told us to switch him from "pedigree healthy weight" to "Iams Senior" since he's 7 now. He said that's a better food. But I've also had several people tell me about the tractor supply food and if the house is a mess when I get home, I know where I'm headed tonight.
@Coastiegirl35 - loves his kong toys, unfortunately, he's a really strong little kid and actually destroys the indestructible toys lol I have to make sure I pick it up when he's done or it's a gonner. lol I've gotta figure out what's causing this and end it. I've had him for 7 years now and aside from a trash can buffet every now and then, he's really been an amazing dog. =D

  • I'm snowed in today and this time it's actual snow and not ice. DH doesn't know it yet but we're going to go outside and play plus take pictures of my bump in the snow :)
  • @kacdanz - yay snowy bump pics! I hope they turn out great!

  • Came home to diarrhea all over my bathtub, courtesy of the puppy. I'm actually more proud he did it in the tub than anything. What a champ. Hopefully cleaning supplies with bleach are ok because I used a lot of that to clean up.
My scan is in 4 hours so basically I'm going insane. Everyone at the office knows I'm worthless today. Sorry, it's basically Christmas Eve.
  • Good luck on your scan @sekosmides
  • I just ran out of orange juice! :((

Lots of snow and ice here today! Crazy cold!
  • @sekosmides - good pup! And good luck with your scan! =D

  • Here in central Texas, we shut down everything if someone spills a cup of ice and we got a teensy bit of sleet last night so a bunch of schools and businesses are closed. My daughter's school was the only one in the area that didn't shut down and boy was she pissed lol.

I don't think I could handle puppy poo at this point in my life so you guys are troupers, for real!
  • @AmommyB - That sucks for your DD, I'd be mad too! I heard Dallas got ice and over 5 inches of snow and it's in the negatives!!!! We have an office there and got word this morning that everything is pretty much shut down.
  • @ipumpkin I live in the Austin area. We are right on the line that never gets snow and ice makes us all drive like 16 year olds, myself included. I'm a hot weather person anyway so am so done with winter, I'm ready for the heat (i say that now, maybe not in July when I'm huge!)
  • I have a friend who used to live on the military base that lives in Austin now! Beautiful area. Texas is on my bucket list to visit. The scorpions and bugs aren't as bad as everyone says though, right....? :)

With ya on the over winter thing too. Subzero temps, snow and ice are so not me.

  • I have been getting so hungry lately!! I typically eat a big bowl of oatmeal with bananas and dried cranberries every morning, but lately I get to work and already need a snack by 9! I either dig into what I've packed for lunch or eat junk food in our break area which isn't healthy (right now it is stocked with chips and Girl Scout cookies!). In the afternoon I feel like I need a snack too otherwise I'm ravenous when I get home. Anyone have some good snack ideas for me?! I think I need to bring twice as much food with me to work now lol.
  • @mvhove have you heard of Naturebox? It's a healthy snack delivery service that's pretty darn good. You get bagged snacks delivered each month and can taylor your subscription to your budget. My hubby even likes it and he's all about meat and potatoes. Their snacks about are great, high in protein and tasty. He also has a peanut allergy but loves other nuts and they don't cross contaminate their snacks which is good for him. It's not super cheap but not outrageous either. You can go through their store and select your snacks or they surprise you if that's what you want.

@ipumpkin lol the bugs here aren't too bad but I've lived here all my life so may not be a good judge. I grew up in Round Rock though and we had tarantulas...those were scary lol.
  • Tarantulas....shit, I just had to be rescued from my desk at work thanks to a little green spider with long legs. I don't know how I'd do with tarantulas. Maybe I need to rethink my Texas getaway, lol.
  • 81 degrees here yesterday... and today it is 27 with the wind chill. Oh how I love Louisiana weather. I am praying for a little sleet so that they cancel school and work tomorrow. I would love to stay home and make a gumbo.
  • We just moved from florida to North Dakota.

    I'm having weather whiplash problems.
  • I'm in Iowa and is bitterly cold out today... but the forecast is finally starting to warm up! So excited to see temps in the 40s and 50s!! (DH can't wait for the opportunity to move south and away from the snow...)

  • Holy shit! I just watched a YouTube video of a natural birth where the woman gave birth in a creek. Crazy, I don't know how sanitary that is but she kind of made it look easy.
