Not our name choice but just curious as to what people thought of naming a girl Relic? I know a girl who just named her daughter this and while I can't say I'm super surprised as she and her husband are fairly alternative as far as lifestyle, I was still taken aback by it. I can't decide how I feel about it, lol.
Relic. Something old and rediscovered. Hmmm. I'm a fan of alternative / hippy names, but I can't decide on this. I'm not sure if it passes my 'a grown up adult will wear this name' test, but it doesn't flunk outright, either. Tough...
We are having a girl and are having such a hard time coming up with anything that we both like! I keep heading over to the names board hoping someone will be thinking of girl names and I'll just love one of them. A lot of the people over there are naming their kids crazy things!
I love this family and their kids but the name of their youngest son is a little out there (and he happens to be in my step sons class in school) his name is Volks. And his middle name is Wagon. Hes a great kid, with a quirky name

I love Rutledge with all my heart, but my family hates it. Also, people look at me funny when I tell them what I am thinking. That is what my first sons name was going to be but we settled on Kade.
DH loves Gwyneth and I love Winnie, but I also like Gwyneth. So I'm not really sure where I'm going with this... Haha
Would Wynnie be short for anything? If not, it might be a common question your daughter gets asked which could get annoying. I do like it though! My husband used to wear a "Free Winona" t-shirt all the time. I'm frankly surprised he hasn't suggested the name.
mccall35 With Gwyneth you still come out with nn Winnie, so you both kinda win (haha) there. I agree 'is it short for something?' may be a question just plain Winnie is asked as she goes thru life.
kristinabeans90 Rutledge. I keep saying it out loud. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Not badly, just NMS. If you love it, go for it is my rule. Maybe pair it with an easier (more common) middle name that he could use if he didn't like using his first?
@mccall35 I have a niece Gwyneth spelled the same and she gets called Gwynnie sometimes so Winnie isn't far off. I love Gwyneth! Everyone calls my niece Gwyn though.
@kristinabeans90 ya I'm not a fan of Rutledge but I always say if you love it go for it. It doesn't matter what other people think if you love it! Unless of course it's Voltz Wagon..... That's just harsh... Lol Kade is super cute too. @MamaBish Relic is an artifact and I just can't stop picturing a museum full of stuff when I hear the name... I don't picture a sweet little girl... However again, to each their own and if someone in the world loves it why not. When I try to picture it as a name I also see a picture of a boy in my head not a girl. However I'm crazy and have named my kids some different names so who am I to judge.
Thanks for the replies ladies. It would be just Winnie (we toyed with Winifred, but felt it was just too big of a name). I think we're leaning towards Gwyneth, because I do have reservations about giving my kids names that are nicknames. I just needed to hear it again from some internet semi-strangers!
I like the name Relic, but then again I'm a fan of off the wall names. I'm having a boy and was thinking about the name Rhetoric. Ha, it's been shot down numerous times, so I was thinking about Rhedan or Rhedian. What do you gals think?
Team Green, and we're still not decided on a girl's name. My latest combo is Evelyn Deborah (both are moms are Deborah/Debra). I still like Jeannette a lot, just haven't sold myself on a middle name for it. We're going to end up at the hospital with our 20+ name list and it will end up being a boy and all this strife would have been for nothing.

I like Rutledge! Just remember, this is your child. Your family has ether had their chance to name a child or will eventually have the chance. Do what is best for you and your immediate family. Your family will love him no matter what his name is. I bet the name grows on them as soon as they see him :x

What about Rhodes or Rheese? Keeps the "Rh" element but a but more typical name?
We're going with Fox Orion for our son We've gotten a lot of people who react with "Oh that's...weird" but we don't care. He's our baby, we'll name him what we like!

As a Fox Mulder fan, I'm on board. Love Orion too!
We have decided on Wolfgang, and affectionately refer to him as Wolfie. @NotISaidtheCat I can relate on the weird looks/animal name similarity haha. We, like you, also don't care, and love it We're having a tough time coming up with a middle name though, if anyone has any suggestions, send them my way!
do you think its out there? I like names that are not heard 3-5 times in the same class but Im not sure if its too uncommon compared to my other kids names
Garrett Makenna (Kenna) Jordynn Madilynn (Madi)
Momma to Garrett (8) Makenna(4) Jordynn (3) & Madilynn (2)
I don't know where you live, but Addilynn (Adalynn) is one of the most popular names in my area of Florida. Of course being a teacher, I hear oodles of names all day long. (Which has made naming my own girl a challenge- name association is tough to get past). Love that name though! Beautiful choice.
I met a girl named aspen today. It's different but it fit her perfectly. It reminds me if a Disney princess.
I love the name aspen!
We had decided on Lincoln for a boy (my DH is related to John Wilkes Booth so I picture our boy doing his family tree in grade school, figuring out where he got his name and just being like 'those jerks!' Also, it's cute heehee!
We're having a girl though so we're pretty set on Mackenna Jane. DH is already calling her 'baby Mack' and I'm cool with it as long as she doesn't get called 'big Mack'. I like the idea of calling her Kenna (both our dad's names is Ken.)
Re: Weekly names thread
Gwyneth Joy (nn either Gwynnie or Winnie)
Or
Winnie Joy
