Pregnancy Brain! First incident!

This morning I woke up FULLY thinking it was Saturday. I spent the hour from 6:30 to 7:30 leisurely going about the morning, even talking to my hubby about going to the Coffee Bean for a decaf (I've been craving coffee so badly) and to the Farmers Market - both of which are only available options for me on a weekend! He didn't say anything... At 7:45 my little step son says, "Moss (his nickname for me) you gotta hurry!" I was taking my time putting dishes away, and I asked him why? Lol... I laughed and said, "What's your hurry, silly? Do you have big plans this morning?" And he looked so confused! He says, "We have to eat breakfast. I have to leave for school soon." I still didn't get it, I said, "No, it's Saturday." He just looked at me, still confused... I seen the look on his face and froze, OMG! He was RIGHT!!! Ahhhh! I've never rushed so fast to get breakfast and our lunches together! We had a really good laugh over it!! I text my husband and asked him why he didn't say anything when I was going on about my "Saturday plans" ... He says, I thought you were talking about what you wanted to do tomorrow... GEEZ! I've heard about goofy mistakes and women blaming it on "pregnancy brain" but that was my 1st experience! Anyone else run into pregnancy brain yet?! ☺️

  • Oh I have a good one. I was at WalMart the other day. I came out, put the groceries in the car then went to help my son in his booster seat. He slipped andalmost fell, I had my keys in my hand and for God knows what reason I laid them on top of the car to help him. Drove home and then realized I didn't have my keys then remembered laying them
on top of the car. Thankfully my dad has a spare house key and lives close. I hurried back to Walmart thinking they may have fallen off in the parking lot, no luck. I checked inside and no one had turned them in. The replacement key for my car is going to cost around $400 because my car only has push button start, no ignition. :( The only reason my car started was because my spare key was in my purse so my car detected it. Otherwise had my car said key not detected I would have known they weren't in the car, Lol. Ugh!! Hopefully I don't lose the spare before my new key comes in.
  • @adtaylor2015 that's a bummer pregnancy brain moment! Hopefully that'll be the last costly one for you!! :]
  • With my last pregnancy I was convinced our light switch was broken. I walked into our hallway and the light was on. I went to turn it off but the switch was already down. I flipped out and called my husband. He gently reminded me that there are two switches in the hallway (one at each end) and I just needed to flip it the opposite direction. I felt so dumb.
  • I get it bad. I paid my daughter's ballet tuition two days late when I thought I was paying early, doh! Slapped with a $15 late fee. I wrote in and was like "I thought it was due on ___!" Ah no. I think I sounded so stupid to her. I need to staple due dates to my forehead. I refuse to borrow library books while pregnant because I know I'll forget them.

  • I found the syringe I use to give my son his reflux medicine in the key dish next to the front door. It gave me a good laugh.
  • Love these tales of our crazy pregnancy brains !

They truly make me laugh and make me re-assured that I'm not going insane, as I can relate to them SO much, plus, the way you ladies word them, make them so much more funnier to read.

P.S Still not got my head around the milk goes in the fridge and decaf tea bags in the cupboard thing....not the other way round. Duh.

On Wednesday the boyfriend and I were heading out for some lunch and errands, and I completely forgot my purse right next to the door. Luckily he remembered it! But then I nearly walked out of the restaurant without it anyways! And then on Thursday, my parents came and visited me for my birthday (they live a little over an hour away), and I went right ahead and forgot my damn purse in their car when they left! I luckily realized it after about 15 minutes. Can anybody say fanny pack?
  • @sugarmagn0lia too funny that it kept happening with your purse! Fanny pack or back back! Hehe... I hope I don't keep thinking that it's a weekend on weekdays! Lol :P
  • SO asked me where this little bag with a present for his mom was. I obviously had no idea... This was the present that I had purposely put in my weekend bag not even 2 mins before, so that we wouldn't forget it!

Haha in UK that has a totally different meaning lol!

Left my purse on the counter at my hairdressers last week. Luckily, my BF owns the salon and saw it before i realised...
  • I was leaving a message with my cell #. I could not think of my cell #. After about 20 seconds of panic, it came to me haha!
  • @joannerows, @susubaby those are good ones! So funny :P @slp213psu Yours is one of my favorites!! That gave me a good laugh... You can just say you were cleaning out the washer :\">
  • @slp213psu I managed to load up the washer, start the washer and go upstairs to do something else and within 5 minutes looked at my SO and said "I can't remember if I put detergent in the washer" so I go back downstairs to check and sure enough the washer is almost full with not a trace of detergent. Also, this morning when I was getting ready for work and making my lunch I almost put the milk in the cupboard and I did put the bacon bits in the fridge.
  • Love this thread.....more ladies please lol :-)

I put the laundry detergent and fabric softener in the washer, closed the lid, pressed start. Never put the clothes in. :)

@slp213psu the other day I put the clothes and the detergent in but never turned it on
  • I'm having trouble coming up with words. hubby thinks I'm losing it because when I try to explain anything I start babbling and pointing. I'm usually pretty coherent.
  • I work in Web design, now a good place to have baby brain. I keep misspelling words I use every day like image and agent and the. I also can't seem to spell my own name. And leaving voice mail? Forget about it! This will stop soon, right?

Can so relate to that! It's like babblsville in our house lol @beansideirae x
  • Lol these are great! I was at a friends house the other night for girls night and before I left went to start the car to heat it up first because it was freezing out, went back in and said goodbye to everyone and left. Pulled into my driveway which is about a half hour from her house and realized I didn't have my purse. I left it sitting on her kitchen table with my whole life in it, drivers license, money, everything. I was so mad at myself but just had to laugh. Pregnancy brain is the worst sometimes hahaha!

LOL! I love this! Too funny! I don't know how long it lasts :P but I have friends who are nursing their little ones and still feel like their brains are not what they used to be! I had one friend describe it as the baby sucking out her brains as well as nutrients haha... She's hoping "the fog lifts" once she's done nursing! It makes for some pretty funny stories though!
  • I haven't gotten too forgetful, but EVERYTHING cracks me up to the point of hysterics. Especially stupid commercials. OMG, any of the screaming goat commercials! It drives my poor husband crazy to watch tv with me. So I guess I can just forget about any theater dates for the next year or so. Lol

Omg that happened to me too! I was watching friends and they said something funny as usual but I could not stop laughing for the life of me! It was to the point where I knew it was weird but couldn't turn it off lol. I still don't know what happened to me
  • Mine tends to be losing things.  I lost my set of keys to our van and then used the spare, I proceeded to lose the spare set but luckily found the original set.  This was like 3 weeks ago, I finally found the spare set.

I've also turned around a driven home 2 times because I forgot my wallet at home and then realized it's in my purse.

This is my 4th pregnancy (3rd baby) and my husband jokes with me and says "wow good thing you don't have pregnancy brain this time"
  • Feeling a little left out because I haven't had any silly slip ups yet... That probably means I'm in for some big ones later on! Stay tuned!
  • I got ready, got in my car and turned the key. Began driving and could not for the life of me remember where I was going to in the 1st place! !!-_- Waste of outfit!
  • Oh boy have I been having goof ups! My mom and my aunt were talking about what giving birth for them was like and I sat there for a few long seconds trying to figure out who their children were! And just now I put the wrong date that I conceived by an entire month, which I don't think is that big of deal but still. Like The Pixies sang, "Where is my mind?"
  • I put Worcestershire sauce instead of soy sauce on my rice yesterday...started to cry and then hubby ate my rice and have me his. Also forgot my smoothie in the freezer this morning.

    Pregnancy brain here, too.
So... I travel for work a lot. I live in a city named "X" and my client was wauting for me, at 8:30 a.m. in cuty "Y"So, today I woke up 4:30 a.m. did my morning routine, had breakfast, put some make up on, walked my dogs and sat around waiting for the time to leave. Well... in order to be in city Y by 8:30 am, I was supposed to take the 7:05 train (they leave every hour), and therefore the 6:20 (6:40 at the latest) bus to the railway station.
Around 7 am, I thought to myself, well, I have quite enough time to step by the railway station's cafeteria and grab a coffee before I leave. So I decided to take the 7:20 bus to the railway station. As I walk towards the bus stop something clicked: Holy c**p!!! I was supposed to be in the train by now!
Somehow my preggie brain did not work properly. While choosing my clothes I was actually wondering why is that I have so much extra time, cuz I am usually in such a hurry, but I didn't let that random thought bother me.
My boss wasn't very happy, of course, but I did my job remotely, so our customer was happy.
Oh well... I feel like this baby is eating off my brains :-S how does one forget to go to work?! =))

  • @michelleclamour so funny, that is a perfect example! Does your boss know you're pregnant? Either way, hopefully since the client was happy, boss will end up happy too. But, I think you're right, I think the the babies DO feed off our brains for awhile lol...
  • ...I ordered my cell phone number from the guy at Jamba Juice yesterday. It earned me a very confused look.

  • @mariessa02 they don't know. I've taken advantage of the fact that I don't get to see my boss or coworkers very often, as I have freelance contracts with 2 companies. :D
But yeah... This was the first incident and, bless me it was the ultimate example of how brainless one can get during pregnancy. (I am usually very very very organised :o )
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Oh gosh I've had so many! Between trying to keep up with my 3 current kids and the pregnancy brain I'm a mess lately ha! So far I've...

    - left my van running for 4 hours in the driveway

    - left the van doors open overnight in the driveway

    - lost my phone and found it in the fridge

-left for a long weekend in Cleveland to visit my grandma and forgot everyone's winter coats at home (despite tons of snow and freezing temps- no coats or jackets at all)

-when we left for the Cleveland trip, I realized 2hrs into the drive that I left the house wearing my hard soled slippers and didn't pack any real shoes

    - missed church because my mental clock was off an hour (didn't realize until I was saying how proud I was to get everyone fed and dressed and loaded in the car with time to spare for a change and then it hit me...and I cried)

    - this just happened yesterday: I was doing a beer run for my DH since I needed to get gas anyway. I just ran in with my credit card to buy the beer- well the lady ID'd me which hasn't happened in years! I was so surprised I said "Oh my wallets out in my van, I'll go get it" the lady peeked out the window saw my mini-van and said..."oh that's okay, just how old are you?"....::mind blank:: I just stared at her. I COULD NOT remember how old I was!! I finally stammered out..."Uhm..uhh..I'm 28?" Haha the lady just looked at me, I said "I can tell you my birthday, xx-xx-86, but my brain is not working right now" she just gave me a weird look and was like whatever lady... Geesh!

  • I put my purse and groceries in the back seat. When I got home I grabbed my purse and headed inside. After going to the bathroom I am ready to put away my ggroceries. I couldn't find them in the house. I looked in the closet, fridge, oven. . .  they were gone!!
Twenty minutes later I realized I never took them out of the car.
