I can't find a forum on this month club for plus size moms. I was a size 16/18 pre-pregnancy. I have had a perfectly normal pregnancy but I feel like some of my doctors (in a large practice with many doctors) make me feel a lot worse than others. I have only gained 6-8 pounds depending on the day and am 28.5 weeks. Anyone else want to speak about their plus size pregnancy?! I need some momma support!
Re: Plus Size Moms!
My docs spent ages telling me how many risks I pose, how baby will probably need intervention etc but *touch wood* BABY IS PERFECTLY HEALTHY.
BP is normal, no swelling, urine fine, baby's growth normal (25th percentile)... So ner ner to them. The only major complaint I have is sciatica but "normal size" women get that too.
I'm just nodding and smiling at this stage.
As far as other people- they are amazed at how big my belly is when I show a pic or stand a certain way. I wear bigger t-shirts to work and that's where the comments come from!
Easier said than done, but don't pay attention to those making the nasty comments. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, don't let some random jerk ruin the fun!
Keep your chin up, and smile!
I also eat so much better while pregnant and take much better care of myself. I hope to keep it up after this baby! We will see! I didn't with the the first.
Try not to worry about weight gain. The baby needs to grow! Just be as healthy as you can!
I also developed gestational diabetes which is terrible, but until I found out about that my pregnancy was going along wonderfully.
I got a call today and was told now I've got to start seeing a high risk doctor though, so not excited about that.
This time I started at 195. I beat them to the punch and asked about weight gain at my first appointment. Doc set a very optimistic goal of "gain 15 lb" (I'm guessing she figured I'd go over whatever she said so she aimed low). I've already passed that but am still under 20! Which I'm pretty sure I had already gained in the first trimester, last time. So I'm feeling pretty good about myself! No GD, everything is going well, again.
I do *hate* getting the "You don't even look pregnant!" comments. How fat did you think I was before?! I got that nonstop last time. Thankfully not so much this time!
