So we aren't putting every effort into conceiving this cycle, but I'm now in my 2ww and I've been trying to stay busy and keep my mind off of it. Does anybody else have a hard time playing the waiting game?
I feel ya! We are in our second month trying so it's still really new. I've got about another week of waiting and I think about it all the time! Going to the gym is helping to relieve stress and takes my mind off of it (and its keeping me in shape!) and I've been getting creative with dinner recipes.... It's fun and takes up some of that evening down time where my mind starts to reel. Good luck- hope you get a positive!
Thank you! It is definitely the night time that it all starts working in my mind. After I've done all I can do for the day. I have a little over a week left it's killing me and having dreams where I'm pregnant doesn't help any!! Good luck with the rest of your wait! I'll be thinking positive for you!
Thanks! Oh man- get this one: just got a phone call from one of my best friends announcing that she's pregnant. They got pregnant in their first month off birth control while not even trying hard... Just "if it happens it happens." Agh! I'm happy for her but oh man.... Way to make the TWW even worse. My husband got so excited about them having a baby he is sure our test will be positive... LOL. No symptoms yet though so I'm pretty doubtful.
Well that's awesome for her. Lol. Wish it was that easy for everyone! But I'm in the boat with you. Feeling doubtful but I know if it's a negative it'll happen eventually.
I'm going a bit stir crazy as well. My periods have been irregular since going off BC (last June) and we've been officially trying since January 1st. I have a period tracker app and it's exciting to see the period days come up on it when I haven't started my period but then I remind myself that it could just be the irregular thing... checking tomorrow to make sure then calling the doc either way. Let's hope it's positive and the doc call is of the excited variety!

There is no need to call a doctor unless you get a +HPT or go 60 days without your period. Until then, you're just wasting your's and their time and money. Also, period tracking apps are crap unless they allow you to enter your BBT to confirm O and therefore when to expect your period. Otherwise, it's just making assumptions, and you know what happens when people make assumptions.
I've been in touch with my doc a lot in the last several months as my periods have been irregular after going off birth control. The mention of contacting my doctor was for two reasons: 1. If I had a positive on my HPT and 2. If it was negative, since my last two periods they put me on progesterone because my periods just didn't come. My doctors are available via an online message service so, not really a waste of money and as far as a waste of time, well, reading and responding to an online message doesn't take that much time...
Lastly, the period tracking app was simply just to make sure I didn't go more than 30 days without a period. I'm not taking it as fact. And, it does have a BBT tracker so...
In any case, FX to those on this board TTC and in the TWW!
I hear ya, sista! While my hubs & I are fairly new to this, we are both pretty excited. He seems to think it'll happen within the first month which is not as common as he seems to think... I try to tell him that but oh well. Fingers crossed!

30 days past a period is fine. I don't understand why that is a benchmark for you.
Everyone is different. Since my periods have been every other month since going off birth control, my doc has me on provera to encourage me back to a 28 day cycle. I have it currently set to a 32 day cycle on my app and didn't feel the need to specify 32 days in my post. Currently 35 days past my last period, going on provera once again because of my negative HPT this morning. I'm working hand-in-hand with my doctor and have issues with my hormones. Let's leave it at that, shall we?
My TWW starts today. I know I'll pee on multiple sticks before my TWW is up. I always do.
I have 8 more days and I'm trying so hard not not to take my test that is in my cabinet. Lol. I feel like I've been peeing a little more than normal but I don't know if I'm imagining things or what. And it seems like men are always more hopeful than us since we are the ones dealing with it all.

The thing is we've seen tons of stories on here of people whose obs are not doing appropriate things. What is your typical o day and lp?
I trust my doctor. Thank you for your concern though.
I'm in the same boat. I can't think about anything else right now! Must wait until next Friday to take a test but not sure I can hold off that long. This is the worst time of the month
How long do we have to wait before we can take a test.. i was thinking 14 days from when we last had sex.. or does it have to be 14 days from when i think i ovulated?? Im new to all of this!
@Niki1204, I can actually help here! So, apparently, you don't generally ovulate at the same time each month so it's a good idea to start keeping track of certain things to help you estimate the date you ovulate. You want to have sex around ovulation. It's suggested to have sex every other day around ovulation because of the man's sperm count and whatnot. Also, my OB sent me the following links for good ways to figure out when you ovulate (I literally got these like, yesterday): https://americanpregnancy.org/getting-pregnant/cervical-mucus/https://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-info/birth-control/fertility-awareness
There's a lot of ways listed on The Bump articles too! Honestly, for me, I am lazy so am just trying to have sex as much as possible between one period and the next and hopefully we'll get lucky. I think after a few months, if we don't get pregnant, I'll start tracking. But at this point, I don't want to get too crazy about it.
Good luck with everything!! Also, keep in mind that it's not crazy for it to take up to a year to get pregnant! Of course, I hope I'm the exception as I suspect we all do, but everyone keeps telling me that it's not super weird to take a year to get pregnant. We'll see.
I have read a lot and found that many women can have positive tests 10-11 days after ovulation. My HPT box also claims to be able to detect pregnancy 4 days before a missed cycle. But I have also read many articles (not personal stories) that says tests may not detect the HCG until 7-10 days after the missed period. I, like many above, have found that I couldn't wait the full two weeks so I have tested at about 3-4 days before my expected cycle and have gotten a negative. I find it very frustrating. My hubby keeps telling me not to worry and to wait until this weekend and see if it is missed...I am just not good with this waiting!!
When I was TTC with my son I would POS starting at 10DPO, then every couple of days until I got AF. I tried for a year with him, and when I got a BFP I had already figured it was out for that cycle because I was 18DPO, and every test was BFN up until then. I took one in the morning out of habit and didn't check it for a good 5-10 minutes because I forgot about it (assuming it was negative). It was super faint but confirmed with a digital right afterwards. It took so many DPO for it to show up and it was still very faint, and I knew exactly when I O'd because I was charting. Everyone is different! I know people who got their BFP at 8DPO.

I can not wait till next week so I can test. I just had three friends of mine announce they are expecting. The waiting is gonna kill me I swear. I'm just trying to stand strong and wait the whole time so I'm not disappointed in the answer.
I personally don't like it when I keep seeing symptoms -- like, on some level I know I'm not pregnant yet but then my hopeful side points out, "Well you did pee like, 4 times already today and you did get all pissed at your friends for no reason" and I'm like, "Well, yeah...hmm...", lol. Oh well, just gotta be patient, you know?
Or how about the opposite? I am nearing my AF and normally my boobs have already hurt for a day, I'm getting cramps and I'm extra easy to piss off. Well I haven't had ANY period symptoms. In fact- haven't really had any symptoms at all other than some bloating (can be explained by Mexican food) and a big fat zit on my face. No symptoms... Got me wondering if that's a symptom. Haha
Hello everyone, I had my DS in 5/2013 and haven't really been on the site since that June, but I'm back now! I'm 30, live near NYC, have irregular cycles (but this cycle I ovulated on CD12 - WEIRD!)
I am TTC#2 and I'm 6DPO and I'm worried I am going crazy. I wake up frequently at night to grab my iPhone and google things like "very earliest I can test and have a positive." And that's after I spent the whole day googling the same things. I'm sure it's pretty normal! I think I will start testing tomorrow at 7DPO, knowing it's very unlikely I'll see a positive. Baby dust to all!body{zoom:85%!important;}
Oh wow! That's great! I'm a big planner myself and was hoping to be able to plan our first baby to be born within a three-month range...found out that it's not always possible. Oh well, as long as baby is healthy, I'll be happy. Good luck!
Alright- I broke down and took a test and got a BFN. Wha wha. And of course now my mind goes directly to: 'Maybe I took it too early..... If AF doesn't show her stupid face in another week I'll get excited and test again.' Haha
Well I hope you took it too early. Lol. Me and my fiancé have been talking a lot about getting pregnant today and it's crazy. I hope he doesn't get his hopes up and I still get a bfn.
I am on my 10 day post after iui I am practically going crazy! We find out March 6 th I definitely feel different my right side was chosen I feel and I'm also sick with a cold is this normal for anyone else?
@alliethornton12, I had a cold shortly after becoming pregnant with DS. DH recommended we pick up a pregnancy test after I started crying over a baked potato. I like to mix in my own toppings but the place put them all in, even though I said on the side. The test was positive. Just after that I got sick, and went to my doctor. I had an upper respiratory infection. I had them frequently throughout my pregnancy.
I hope this is it for you!! Good luck!

After 2 years of the dreaded tww, I got really drunk one night and said scew it, I'll take a test because I'm a few days late..couldn't handle another BFN sober. Surprise, surprise, faint BFP! I had no symptoms before and I didn't just "know." So there is hope. All those wonderful symptoms hit hard after a week or two. However, my story doesn't end happy. We are currently going through a mc at 11 weeks. I pray for better for all of you ladies and assure you it will happen one day, have faith.
Hi all! I'm Amanda. New Bumpie, TTC #1. This is my first TWW and I'm going crazy! 9 or 10 dpo and I've been having symptoms since ~6 dpo. Today I broke down and poas, but used an opk, since I'm out of HPTs. Got a +! Can't wait til my internet cheapies arrive in the mail later today. Wishing BFPs for everyone!
I hate waiting. This is my first cycle trying and I am really trying hard not to get my hopes up since hubby was away for a good portion of my ovulation. I took a first response this am since I am due on the 5th but was negative. I thought maybe I'd get something since my boobs are killing me, but I have a feeling it's just my period coming.
