Slow labour?

Im due to give birth to my first child on the 9th march but yesterday morning i started to get pains in my back and my sides. Which also led to pressure which also occured in my crotch and bum, it got worse as the day went on with frequent trips to the toilet which was some times a little bit of urnie and discharge or a lot. It became harder to walk as the day went on so i went to bed with a hot water bottle thinking i had just over done it or it was braxton hicks. The pain turned in to a cramping pain, Through the night i woke up in a bit of pain when i moved to get up to go to the toilet or rolled over, when i woke up this morning the pain was still there which through the day has got worse again but after a little sleep is back to only when i move but through all this my baby girl has been happy kicking through the pain. I was just wondering what it was and could it be slow labour starting as i have only got 7 days left? X

Re: Slow labour?

  • I basically just went through the same stuff a couple days ago. It was bad, called the doctor ect. and I'm dealing with the after mild pains and cramping while moving.

They basically told me it was probably little man dropping down and the change in my body triggered cramping ect.

I mean, anything is possible but it's likely just the before prep your body is doing

  • I've been going through this exact same thing for the past week on and off, I'll be 40 weeks tomorrow so hopefully it's a sign that your body is getting ready for labor. If it gets any worse just go to labor an delivery or call your doctor - just to be on the safe side.
  • I've been experiencing contractions every 5-6 minutes since 11pm last night. I finally decided to go to labor and delivery... I'm back home but my dr doesn't think I will be here for long... Could be early labor. That's what I've felt for the last 17 hours!

  • I've been doing similar things for most of the week, I went to my dr on Friday and she said it is probably the first part of labor. She said to make sure I have everything ready and that we could meet this little one any day, or she could wait another couple of weeks to make her appearance. I'll be 37 weeks on Tuesday so I am torn between wanting her to stay in for a little longer just to be safe and wanting her to come soon!
  • I spent about 24 hours having SUPER painful contractions (this is baby #2 for me and I felt like they were definitely labor worthy and not just Braxton hicks) but about 14 hours into it I started throwing up and did that about 5 or 6 times and then everything went away...apparently I had a bug that set odd horrendous contractions. I had no idea one could have contractions that hard for that long and NOT have a baby after it! Hopefully yours is legitimate early labor because I wouldn't wish that on anyone!
  • Omg I had that bug last weekend. It was AWFUL
  • I've had this for the last week and a half. I've even had contractions as close as 2 minutes apart but with no progression. My doula thinks it is slow labor but my midwife says it's just my body preparing itself.

  • Thank you everyone, i spoke to my midwife this morning and she said it sounds like the start of early labour which could het properly going any day now, so all i have to do is sit and wait .
  • Mines been off and on for the last two weeks hopefully yours gets moving sooner.. I don't think I'll believe im in labor when I finally am lol
