  Vaccines are important. They save lives. I don't get why this has become such a huge debate after the eradication of polio, smallpox, and other deadly and debilitating illnesses. Especially given the overarching research and the stance of basically the entire respected medical community that you should vaccinate.

  I didn't know people were still wasting their breath debating this topic! I'll definitely be vaccinating and we already had a huge trip to Disney world planned for September, if my kid gets sick because someone didn't vaccinate their kids I will lose it!

  We are considering it! We have gone the last two years and seem to have a new tradition created- last two times were in June- but with a April (or March) baby I think it would be pushing it for me so trying for cooler, less busy time! (3.5 year old twins too). I wish I lived closer! I could LIVE there and eat at EPCOT every night! Oh please ship me some!

  I am pleasantly surprised/pleased with these answers as well. I was expecting a train wreck when I saw the title of this thread. I'm still kind of expecting one but at least it was a good start.

  The pediatrician I chose stressed to me that they follow strict CDC guidelines so my baby will be getting all vaccines as scheduled unless he/she is medically unable. My favorite part of the visit, though, was when they told me if anyone chooses not to vaccinate they should find a new doctor. Finally, someone with common sense!

  My child is on a very strict on-time vaccination schedule, and the most she has EVER had at once is three, and that's only because I went ahead and got her a flu shot that day. It's really not a big deal, if you just do it right and do it on time. These people have dedicated their lives to helping children be as healthy as can be. They want your child to be ok. It's their life's work.

  Since I'm a first time mother and concerned for my child AFTER doing research on vaccinations I just wanted some quick opinions. I do not care about your trip to Disney World nor do I care for negative comments about my question. Thanks for those who answered seriously and piss off to the negative Nancys who are too bitter to be kind.

  Just ask your pedi to spread them out. Most are willing to work with you and will spread them out so that your baby only receives one or two at a time.

  The most you would do at one time would be 4, and that would only be if you refused the Hepatitis B vaccine at birth ( we give it withing the first 12 hours of life). You can look up the scheduling of vaccines within the first year through the CDC. If you miss you scheduled pediatrician visits, that would be the only caveat which would behoove you to play catch-up with the vaccines.

  I don't remember my 4yo ever getting more than four at a time. It's really not that bad, they'll cry and get over it. Just think how much worse they'd be crying if they got the measles.

  This is the internet. If people want to talk about Disney they have the right to do so. Apparently I missed the negative nancy posts. I thought you got plenty of feedback, especially considering vaccinations have been discussed like 10 times in this group before. Use the search function and you will get PLENTY of very serious opinions.

  I'm not trying to be nasty but @alissapalooza, did you not hear about the whole Disney measles outbreak? Unvaccinated children caused several kids to get sick! That's why I brought up Disney, I didn't want to be rude with my comments about vaccinations so I tried to state it nicely. If you want negative nancy I can tell you how I really feel!

  Please, please, please do not be concerned about vaccinating according to the CDC schedule. There is so much misinformation and so much fear-mongering on "Mommy blogs," "natural" news sites, anti-vaccine sites, and similar sources that I can understand why someone is afraid. But these vaccines undergo YEARS of testing before they're added to the childhood vaccination schedule. When a new vaccine is finally approved after the testing, it is then tested with the old vaccines it will be given in conjunction with to make sure the safety and effectivity of the new vaccine doesn't change when given with the old vaccines, and the old vaccines are tested to make sure their safety and effectivity aren't changed when given with the new vaccine. 

  
  

  There are absolutely not toxic levels of chemicals in these vaccines. Most of the chemicals are in trace amounts, and many of them are found in our bodies anyway. Formaldehyde sounds like a scary thing to be injecting into a baby, but the human body actually produces formaldehyde as part of the function of amino acids, and the amount present naturally in a baby's body is even greater than the tiny amount in vaccines. How about aluminum? It's also in small amounts in a vaccine, but babies consume more than twice the amount of aluminum in breast milk their first 6 months of life than is present in all the vaccines they'll get in childhood COMBINED! Plus, it is rapidly flushed out of the body. 

  
  

  I really could go on, but I promise you that the standard vaccination schedule is safe. In fact, this schedule has been tested and shown to be safe and effective. Delayed schedules have NOT been tested, and they only increase the amount of time your child is susceptible to a disease or illness. Plus, delaying means more trips to the doctor than you'd have to take if you stuck to the approved schedule, and that means more exposure to germy kids in the waiting room

  I don't go here, but the 6 month visit LO had five, because I elected the flu shot. One was oral, however, then two in each leg - damn if I can remember which they were, I believe it was DTaP, Hib, and PCV. Rota was oral.
