Thoughts on Fitzgerald as a first name?

Middle name will definitely be Harrison (family name) but is Fitzgerald too crazy for a first name? I also worry that Fitzgerald Harrison is just a giant name, but my husband loves it.

Aside from it being a surname, when you say the name altogether (don't know what your last name is) it is a bit of a mouthful.

Some surnames work alright as a first name. Fitzgerald is not one of them and pairing it with Harrison is just ridiculous.

I love both names but not together. It's just too much. And if you're not okay with Fitz as a nickname then don't do it because people will automatically default to that whether you like it or not. Unless you call him Gerald or Gerry for short to mitigate that from happening.

Either way, it's just too much. Find another name to pair with Harrison.

I voted no only because I think Fitzgerald Harrison is a bit of a mouthful and I'm not sure with addition to your last name as well. I do like Harrison or Fitzgerald separately as names though.

However it is a middle name so you won't be saying they're full name all the time so go with what makes you happy.

While it might be a bit of a mouthful with Harrison, I love the name! I may be a bit partial as a big fan of Scandal, JFK, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, but I think it sounds very dignified and Fitz is an adorable NN.

I agree. I like both names separately and don't see a big problem with Fitzgerald as a first name. Esp if you may call him Fitz. But the names together is a mouth full.
