When to give up nap and get both on same schedule?

DD has been a notoriously terrible sleeper. She did a sleep study last year and started daily iron. She has gotten a lot better. Last night, she slept 9pm-8am= record breaking! On nights that she sleeps well like that, she doesn't love taking her nap. Her naps are definitely shorter when she has a good night.

DS was always by great sleeper. He has been waking up really early for 2-3 months now. He started this not long after moving to a toddler bed. He was up at 5:45am today. UGH! Of course, he can't wait for nap time b/c he gets up so early.

As much as I love the 1.5-2.5 hours of nap time to get stuff done, I'm wondering if I should work on eliminating the nap to see if night sleep improves.

What do you think? Start by letting them nap, but waking them up at 1.5 hours, then 1.25 hours, then 1 hour, etc?

When we eliminate naps, I REALLY want to do it for both at the same time (if possible)!

How old are they? You want them to nap at the same time because..? What time do they go to bed at night?

@ WillyBean they will be 3 in April. They go to bed at 8:30-9pm. I want them to nap at the same time b/c I login to my work while they nap, clean the house, make phone calls for various things, etc. When they are awake, life is all about them. I take them with me grocery shopping, running errands, etc.

Okay so you sound like me! Ha! I use the kiddos naps to get stuff done, too. They are napping right now, actually! I don't think I have ever woken one from a nap, though. And they usually go down for their naps within 20 minutes of each other. Do your kids eat at the same time? I have found that when mine don't, their naps are offset. But if we make sure they eat together, they get sleepy together no matter when they woke up.

Mine are a lot younger than yours, but I don't think 3 is a bad age to still have a nap. Even if it's a short one. if you are running errands could they take a nap in the car for a bit? I know a lot of kids sleep well in their car seats or strollers? Or could you just have quiet time (read books, quiet activities) for the other twin while one is sleeping? Just some ideas.
