Pregnancy Landmine Field

Does anyone else feel like they are carefully making their way through a pregnancy landmine field?! Every single day I discover a new food I shouldn't be eating (which of course I already ate) or a new activity people say I shouldn't be doing (which is usually my favorite thing to do). I had a freak out yesterday because I used a hair treatment with sage and rosemary oil in it and come to find out you should NEVER use those things while pregnant because they can cause uterine contractions! Who knew! Between advice, books and google, I swear I'm starting to feel like I should be living in a plastic bubble for the next 7 months. Women have been having babies forever, why does it feel so complicated and confusing to know what's okay and what's not these days? Or is this just me over thinking everything lol?

  • Yes I believe you are right and I'm definitely not using it again. It just seems like EVERYTHING is off limits right now. I was prepared to give up coffee, alcohol, kickboxing...the stuff you always hear about. I just wasn't prepared to change so many of my products, hobbies, and random foods

  • Agreed, there are so many do's and don't's that it drives me crazy. Just use common sense and do everything in moderation. It's sad to say, but I have a friend whose mother had four healthy pregnancies and babies, all the while being a major meth addict throughout each pregnancy. I understand that is CRAZY, and unhealthy, and wrong, but it's hard for me to think she could have four healthy babies while doing meth and I can't have a coffee or soda or highlight my hair occasionally. I do everything in moderation, and if I have a concern, I make a list and ask my doctor, who is very balanced. I don't clean out the litter box, take ibuprofen, or drink espresso anymore, but that's pretty much it. I certainly don't look on Google or read any pregnancy books! As you said, women have been doing this since the beginning of time and it's more likely that all goes fine, so we can just relax and let our bodies do what they do! Take care!
  • @mrscaterosales‌ Yes I completely agree! I am young and healthy and my worst habit is eating chocolate lol, so I don't get why the world has to trip out over the little things. The other day my coworker lost it because I was eating a piece of black licorice and I guess you aren't supposed to. She got me all wound up. It's lots of those little things that are just starting to bug me

  • Yes, the unwelcome advice bothers me more than the fear of something happening to my baby over a single piece of licorice haha. Hang in there!
  • Sage and rosemary! !! Omg I didn't know! I have been making my own little hair treatments for the longest. Those two main ingredients. I definitely feel that I have to walk on eggshells now. :( bubble mommies

Right! I had no idea either. And here I was so proud of myself for using something natural and it still turned out to be a fail lol
