Exersaucer / jumperoo?

Are you still using them? I have kept mine in the kitchen for containment while cooking, but LO is starting to have hissy fits whenever we get even close to it. Time to ditch?

Re: Exersaucer / jumperoo?

  • This happened to us this week. LO used to love it so much. Then it became the source of much wailing and gnashing of teeth. I'm sad to see it go, even though he really was too big for it. :(
  • Loading the player...
  • We keep ours stashed behind the couch so I actually forget about it. DD is still on the small side for it and we have it on the lowest setting.

  • DD is a bit behind in her leg development and on the small size so we still use it and she still likes it but only for like 10-15 minutes at a time. She like to have snacks to grab at while in the Jumparoo. DD does not stand on her own even hanging on to things much yet.
  • Is it done when they can pull to standing? I can't remember... Ours is standing, but not walking or cruising.
  • We use ours for containment as well. We usually switch off between the jumperoo and a regular walker so she doesn't get sick of one or the other. She still fusses after about 10 minutes unless I'm sitting right in front of her.

If I were in your situation, I would prob get rid of it. Sounds like your LO is done!
  • Avery has hated our exersaucer for a few months now. Every time I tried to put her in it, she would throw a fit! We haven't used it in a month or two. She would stand up next to it and play with the toys. While cleaning this weekend I packed it away for the next babe.
  • I only use it for when I take a shower. She will tolerate it for maybe 5 minutes if I'm lucky.
  • I was trying to deny this, but yes I think he is over it. He LOVED his jumperoo but now that he is cruising, that is all he wants to do. I am sad to take it down. He does tolerate that jump thing in the door frame though when I take a shower.  Maybe cause he can swing more around in it.
  • My LO has been over them for a month or two now she would rather be moving around I've just been too lazy to pack it away
  • LO never liked these, she had always wanted to be free to move around. If you need some entertainment while you are in the kitchen, magnets for the fridge work great. I bought LO some colorful letters and she LOVES them. Best $10 spent!

This is an awesome idea! Thanks!
  • LO prefers her walker instead of the jumper.. but she is everywhere in this thing... cabinets... banging into baseboards... but she loves it. We got a cheap one from Kmart.

  • My guys like to crawl and play under it.... Sort of like a fort lol
  • We still have our exersaucer, he doesn't use it but I'm hanging onto it for when he starts to pull up and cruise along things. Also for friends who come over with their littles! If he doesn't want to cruise, I'm getting rid of it. I bought it used and have nowhere to store it. I'll get another used one if I need it for another baby.

Just checked our jolly jumper and he's 1lb away from the maximum weight. We haven't used it in a few weeks.

LO isn't crawling yet, he doesn't stray too far from where I put him down!
  • We still have the jumperoo but he doesn't like to stay in there as much as he used to.
  • DD likes to play on the outside of it now that she can stand. But she still will play on the inside and jump around.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have the magnets already - could give it a try.
  • I put her in it in the mornings with some cheerios/puffs and a sippy cup while I make coffee, breakfast get clothes ready etc. and she will play or watch Sesame Street for about 30 minutes. After that I use it for containment to make dinner, go throw in a load of laundry, shower etc but her time in it is short lived and she fusses to get out.

  • We ditched ours months ago. LO was way to 'on the go' to be bothered with them.

  • I'm thinking of replacing it with a small/cheap high chair. Maybe then I can put him in it with a snack while I cook. Our house is not at all open concept, so if he's crawling around I can't keep an eye on him. Maybe we'll just move ;)
