Scheduled for induction tomorrow morning. Freaking out!!

so tomorrow morning @6am is my appt for induction and as it gets closer i seem to just be thinking...and thinking. I'm a nervous wreck! I'm I'm 40w 6days and last saw my OB on friday-not dilated. I just started to loose my mucous plug yesterday late morning. Woohoo!!! Some progress!!! I'm wondering how much more of it must come out? Because some more came out a bit ago. I'm talking a good grabable chunk and streaked with brownish red. Also if you can relate and this has happened to you at the same timing...how long after inducing did you have your baby? I hope I make sense

I started losing mine the day I went to be induced. At one point thought my water broke (after an epidural) and when the nurse checked me-it was even more plug-it was after 24 hrs after being stripped in the doctor's office.

Edited to add: first baby was 19 hrs with induction-second baby was 10 hr with induction-both at 41 weeks

  • I don't have any experience as this is my first, but I just wanted to wish you luck and hope that your delivery is a speedy one! I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my doctor to which I hope we set an induction date for this week, if not tomorrow night. Unfortunately, my reasons are strictly insurance related. If I had my choice I'd wait to see if I went in naturally, but sadly time is not on my side and I cannot afford to wait much longer. Anywho, good luck and keep us posted! You'll do great!

I have nothing but horror story as for my experience so I'll spare you - you can lose your mucas plug several weeks prior to labor starting, your body will just form a new one. The "riper" you are starting an induction the easier time you'll have. Losing your plug can be a sign of ripening so hopefully this is the case for you! My induction was 64 hours at 41 weeks because I wasn't dilated or effaced. Have patience and take the pain meds if you need them! You'll be holding your babe in no time!
