My husband and I have an almost 3 year old son and have been TTC for the past 11 months. We got pregnant with my son on our first try so the trouble we're having came as a big unpleasant surprise. I had low progesterone initially and took Crinone for the first 11 weeks, but my pregnancy was otherwise uncomplicated.
We tried on our own for 4 months, 3 months of Femara 5 mg, 2 months Femara + HCG trigger and progeserone during luteal phase, 2 months Clomid (50 and 100 mg) + trigger with IUI and progesterone. No luck. I ovulate on my own and my husband's semen analysis was normal, so we fall in the lovely category of "unexplained infertility".
I have not had an HSG yet - so I'm planning on taking a break from the meds this month and have the HSG and possibly a laparoscopy done. Emotionally I need a break anyway. The disappointment this month was particularly hard.
I'm sorry you're having trouble MaeMB. Infertility is so stressful, I hope your stay here is short. On the upside, my doctor said that women often have a bump in fertility post-HSG. Good luck and hang in there.
Hello. What made you start seeing an RE after only 4 months of trying on your own?
My several HSGs have given me a great deal of information, I hope you learn something that will help when you have yours. GL.

Hello. Are you working with a RE or OB? I'm confused about why your doctor started you on medicated cycles so quickly. I agree with PPs. I would definitely be asking your doctor for some tests before continuing with any treatment. I know you say you ovulate on your own and your husband's SA was normal, but there is much more to fertility than that so I sort of side eye your doctor for telling you that you have "unexplained infertility" at this point. I hope the HSG helps give you a clearer picture of what is going on so you can get a plan that works.
If it helps, I conceived my DS immediately after having my HSG. Boom! Pregnant just like that after 10 months of trying. My OB told me that although an HSG does not increase fertility, it is known that many people get pregnant after having one. The procedure itself may clear out or resolve an issue or blockage that existed that was resolved simply by having the HSG done. I'll hope for that for you!

Re: Intro - Newbie
TTC #1 for 21 Months
Husband: 41
Me: 36
3 failed IUIs
changed REs
1 failed IVF (chemical pregnancy)
13 5-day frozen embryos
Also, I side eye the lack of an HSG before throwing time and money into IUIs and meds. I would get that ASAP.
